I was being summoned by Mistress Fiiyanamia’s adopted daughter.
Upon hearing that, my surprise could not be described.
Just when I was mulling on what to do after my brother’s absurd proposition, which father fortunately rejected.

My father concluded that this is the perfect opportunity to decide what stance the Amyulute family will take.
To begin with, there’s the issue of how the matter of my summoning even got to the Amyulute family.
I suspect that as a part of the Fiiyanamia faction, it was deemed that the family should be informed.

It doesn’t really concern me whether the family turns to the anti-Fiiyanamia faction or not, but I’d rather not have my dear elder sister Sumiaria get dragged down with them.
For that reason, I accepted a request from the family.

That is to determine who Mistress Fiiyanamia’s daughter is and whether or not she’s worthy to be Mistress Fiiyanamia’s successor.
We accepted the request as a party, but for some reason I was to interact with her alone –which can’t be helped, since I was the one summoned to begin with– and so the nerve wracking waiting time began.

In conclusion however, the anxiety and suspense on my part was unneeded.
To think that the said daughter was Cielmer… Lady Cielmer, I mean.
It was a surprise to say the least, but it’s much less stressful than dealing with a complete stranger.

「How was it?」
「Oh now you’re concerned, after acting like a mere spectator.」
「I mean, there’s nothing we could do.」

As my conversation with Lady Cielmer ended, I returned to my party and Chasse immediately came with a question, so I replied with sarcasm.
I know that there wasn’t anything they could do, but it was pretty stressful.
I let my displeasure show on my face and 「Sorry.」 Chasse honestly apologized.

「To answer your question, it’s just as you witnessed.」
「Little Cielmer is Mistress Fiiyanamia’s daughter, hmm? She’s really gotten ahead in life since we last saw her.」

Ha Ha Ha! Lucie laughed, but does that really apply here?

「Lucie, I’d advise you to watch how you address her. Lady Cielmer herself may not mind it, but the public might. Worse, it might cause trouble for her. If you ever came into conflict with her, I’m not helping you, alright?」
「Now that you mention it, that’s true. I’ll be careful.」
「So, is it safe to say that she is Mistress Fiiyanamia’s daughter?」

Putting aside Lucie’s questionable reply, Chasse asked for confirmation. As the party’s leader, he can’t afford to be kept in the dark about this.

「Undoubtedly. I can’t discuss much in detail, but I believe that there’s a reason why Mistress Fiiyanamia adopted her. It’s not about strength, there’s something special about her existence itself. Though speaking of strength, I think hers is already among the higher end of A-ranks.」

Ainsel’s existence. She said that they are two souls in one body and I suspect that this is what attracted Mistress Fiiyanamia’s eye.
Though even without that, there’s also the fact that she’s already so powerful at her age, that’s quite special too.

「You keep saying she’s strong and all, but is she really that strong?」
「Lucie, you can only say that because you can’t use sorcery. No, I don’t think even half-hearted practitioners can appreciate the brilliance of her skill. In terms of defensive ability, I suspect that she’s the best in Central. Her simpler barrier endured my teacher’s blue hellfire.」
「…… That’s impressive.」

Ah, Lucie’s eyes have changed.
She wants to try her mettle against Lady Cielmer, it’s written all over her face.

「I’ll be honest, whether by ambush or not, no matter how many people she’s against, I don’t think breaking through her barrier is possible. Picking a fight with her is a waste of time.」
「In conclusion, hostility would be a bad move then, I guess. We can’t elaborate about her power, so conveying this will be tough.」

Antagonizing Lady Cielmer, more so with Mistress Fiiyanamia, is the peak of stupidity.
I was already half-decided on that even before this meeting, but now my brother should be able to understand it as well.

Up until recently, going home was nothing but depressing.
I generally only go home occasionally and when I’m there, I basically only talk with sister Sumiaria. I don’t talk with other family members much at all.

Still, I believed that I could trust them as nobles, which is why I wrote Lady Cielmer the letter of introduction. In hindsight, I’m glad that she didn’t come to my family for support and protection.

That aside, these days my family is the one who wants me to come back home. The change of attitude is likely because I’m a failure no longer.
Since they already cast me away, they can’t tie me down and I don’t have any obligation to return either. Still, my sister is there, so I go home occasionally.

「I’ve returned.」
「Welcome home, Lady Viviana.」

The servants started greeting me like this only after I could use sorcery properly. Before that, they treated me quite rudely.

They don’t even acknowledge me when I return and only do the bare minimum of service. While I felt differently when I was young, I’ve realized that it’s because I was a failure, so I try to not have this bother me.

「Where is father?」

I asked the head butler who was there and 「At the office.」 he replied.
In that case, he’s working. Perfect timing. This matter concerns the future of the Amyulute family, so he shouldn’t think of it as a bother.

「Understood.」

Replying as such, I head to my father’s office.
I know this house by memory, so there’s no chance of getting lost but the hallway leading to the office always brings up memories. It connects to the place where my father expresses disappointment in me.

On the way, I came upon a face I would’ve rather not see. That short hair and smug face. A face that’s handsome but makes me irritated at the sight of it. My older brother who constantly belittled me just exited father’s office.

「Viviana, so you’re home.」
「Brother, did you have some business with father? I must report about today’s matter, so if you may.」

He’s blocking my path for some reason, so I subtly tell him to get lost. He replied with a triumphant look.

「Oh right, that’s right. Our family had a request for the mere hunter. To investigate just how banal Fiiyanamia’s adopted daughter is. However, my little sister, that request is canceled. We have not a single copper to hand over to you.」
「By that you mean?」
「Quite dull, are you not? As expected of the Amyulute family’s burden. From this day onward, our Amyulute family is of the anti-Fiiyanamia faction, granted the role of defeating the slothful monarch who rules over Central yet does nothing at all.」

My own family, my own brother… this is giving me a headache.
I didn’t think that my brother was this bad, but it seems like he’s had a tendency to be impatient since I earned an alias.
After all, even though he is the firstborn son of the Amyulute family, set to be the next head of the family, sister Sumiaria has been constantly propped up as the more excellent child.

Hiya~! It’s been some time! And while it’s only half the chapter, we’re already sensing signs of stupidity about to stir up the plotline!

First thing’s first, I’ll take a moment to briefly explain some stuff. While the Japanese suffixes have been removed and/or localized as part of the Re:Library’s general translation policy, I’m sure some people like knowing how it was originally. So in the future chapters, I’ll try to list it down here if it’s preferred. Fun fact, this isn’t the first time I’ve completely removed Japanese honourifics in AinCiel, shoutout to the readers who were there when I was experimenting at my own site, lol. Now then.

Viviana calls Ciel Cielmer-sama and uses Fiyanamiya-sama with Fii’s name even when only addressing her faction. On the other hand, the Anti-Fiiyanamia faction has no honourifics in it’s name (aka in how they call their group) even in the original, perhaps to show they don’t deem her worth of respect.. As for her brother, she calls him Nii-sama (brother, formal) but only calls him brother in her inner voice. For her father, it’s Tou-sama (father, formal) for both. For her sister Sumiaria, it’s Nee-sama (elder sister, formal. Additonally, as you may have noticed, I opted for Mistress Fiiyanamia and tend to use Lady for, well, the young lady nobles.

I was thinking of doing my usual “point what I like in this chapter” but I think I should leave it here for now. I’m still adjusting a bit on how I’ll handle this, but I’ll say at least. There’s a stupid presence I can’t quite put my finger on in this chapter (sarcasm). He’s been present for just a few sentences and I already enjoy how arrogantly hammy he is, lol.

Now then, thank you all for bearing with me, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment and give feedback. Stay safe, stay healthy, and have a nice day~!
