Early the next morning,

“Just remember to step gently and watch out for zombies and obstacles when turning,” Lin Feng cautioned.

“I get it, I get it. Stop nagging. It’s just driving. And I already told you, the mess the other day was Hao Jian’s fault,” Anna retorted, shaking her head dismissively at Lin Feng’s persistent warnings.

“Still talking back? Haven’t you learned your lesson?”

“I know, I’ll be careful, okay?”

“Make sure you drive slow enough to draw the zombies away. If they catch up with me, we’re in trouble,” Lin Feng added, resigned to Anna’s distracted state.

After the briefing, Lin Feng got behind the wheel of a forklift he had found nearby. Unable to locate a trailer the previous night, the forklift was his only option. Though not ideal, it should suffice for moving the wheeled airplane.

“Lin Feng, are you sure you can handle this?” Song Zhe approached, eyeing Lin Feng skeptically in the forklift.

Lin Feng had called Song Zhe for backup, in case they needed to clear blockades. Song Zhe would use Hao Jian’s modified vehicle for that task, or his brute strength if necessary – just a few chocolate bars would fuel his efforts.

“I gave it a test drive. I’ll go as slow as I can.”

Lin Feng had briefly tried out the forklift, finding its operation similar to regular vehicles, with the added step of managing the cargo lift.

Amusedly, Lin Feng wondered if he might end up as a forklift operator in a safer world.

“Alright, stay safe, brother. Anna and I will clear the way,” Song Zhe reassured before mounting a sleek silver-engine motorcycle they had found. He would scout ahead on the bike, then switch to Hao Jian’s modified vehicle to clear the path.

Lin Feng might have tried driving Hao Jian’s vehicle himself, if not for the precious cargo they were transporting.

“DIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!” Heavy metal rock music blasted from Anna’s off-road vehicle’s speakers, stirring the zombies into a frenzy as they converged on the sound.

Song Zhe had already raced ahead to an intersection, waiting to clear the way once the zombies clustered around Anna’s car.

The team had reinforced Anna’s car with extra metal plating to keep her safe inside.

“This is thrilling!” Anna yelled, emerging from the roof of her car after driving a few hundred meters.

“Always looking for trouble, that little rascal,” Lin Feng sighed from afar, watching Anna rig the steering wheel and accelerator, then firing off a few rounds from an assault rifle before ducking back inside.

Anna’s car, fitted with spiked doors, split the zombies at the front while the rest swarmed around it. The music from her sound system continued as her car inched forward.

Seeing an opportune moment, Lin Feng started moving the plane. The forklift, dragging the aircraft, began its slow journey along the now mostly cleared road.

Watching Anna have fun in the car, Song Zhe sighed, longing for a bit of comfort himself. After several attempts to dislodge a car blocking the road with the modified vehicle failed, he resorted to pushing it aside using his strength.

The road was wide enough, and Song Zhe’s task wasn’t too demanding.

“Let’s just hope nothing goes wrong,” Lin Feng muttered, his thoughts drifting to mutant zombies and gangs.

But then he paused, wondering if he had inadvertently set himself up for trouble by thinking that.
