“Now, let’s talk about who the fool is?” The girl with snow-white hair looked at Lily, who was getting up from the ground, and said mockingly.

“Nancy… have you lost your damn mind!” Lily was nearly exploding with rage. “Why did you hit me!”

“Why did I hit you?” Nancy furrowed her brows. “I’m asking you, why did you touch my people without my permission?”

“Your people?” Lily paused slightly, “Damn, Nancy, are you crazy? Look who I was hitting!”

Hearing Lily’s words of disappointed hope, Nancy slightly bowed her head, looking at Sylvia on the ground, a cute girl with blue hair, who, unfortunately, would ultimately be ruined by Su Xiaoyu.

“This girl flirts with Bowyer every day; I’m ridding the people of a menace today,” Lily slowly approached the contemplative Nancy, saying.

At this moment, Jenna, who had just been crouching on the wall, jumped down, picking up a piece of broken stone and looking at Lily mockingly.

“Ridding the people of a menace? More like ridding yourself of a nuisance, huh?”

“…” Lily’s face stiffened upon hearing this, but she had already stealthily moved to Nancy’s left, very close by.

“Swoosh!” The sound of a spring knife being unsheathed.

“Nancy, damn you! How dare you hit me!” Lily’s face twisted in rage, and she thrust the knife in her hand fiercely towards Nancy’s chest.

Lily was seasoned in group fights; her movements were so swift that even Jenna, who was closer to Nancy, couldn’t react in time. She could only watch as her boss was about to be stabbed by the knife in Lily’s hand…

Just when everyone thought the arrogant Nancy was going to fall here:

“Bang!”

A dull explosion, accompanied by a flash of light that seemed like an illusion, followed. Then, everyone saw Lily, who had been untouchable moments before, clutching her thigh and howling in pain on the ground.1

A non-lethal electric pistol, commonly circulated in the black market as a small workshop-made electric-driven pistol. Its damage is lower than that of gunpowder weapons, but it is valued for its very low recoil and incapacitation ability.

Now, Nancy held a black electric pistol in her hand, with the barrel emitting sparks, indicating that this lethal weapon had already roared moments ago.

“Ahh… Ah… Help me… Ambulance… Ahh…” Lily wailed, clutching her thigh.

The dozen or so young delinquents were instantly petrified; being merely high schoolers mingling in society, they had never encountered a gun before. Now, faced with Nancy, who had already discharged the only bullet, they dared not advance another step.

“Lily, stop yelling; you’re not going to die.” Nancy methodically reloaded the pistol, which was fine except for its limitation of holding only one bullet at a time.

“Ahh… don’t come here! Stay away!” Seeing Nancy approaching, Lily was so terrified that she stopped wailing, bursting into tears with snot running into her mouth.

Truth be told, the damage caused by this gun was indeed less than that of a gunpowder-driven one; the wound on Lily’s thigh was only the size of a thumb, already cauterized by the bullet’s electric current, resulting in minimal bleeding. Clearly, the bullet had passed straight through Lily’s thigh2, causing limited damage.

However, this was exactly what Nancy had intended.

【Is this really okay?】The girl suddenly spoke up, her tone carrying a hint of worry for the first time.

“Are you afraid I’ll kill someone?” Nan Yin smiled faintly, “I didn’t expect you to worry. Rest assured, I know what I’m doing; she won’t die.”

“Hey, over there.”

Nancy suddenly called out in a certain direction, startling the young delinquents.

“Take your boss away; a small clinic can treat her.”

…………

It wasn’t until those on Lily’s side mustered the courage to clumsily carry away the now unconscious Lily that Jenna realized what their boss had done.

She looked at the pistol in Nancy’s hand, swallowing nervously, but then her attention was drawn to the several timid young delinquents nearby.

“Julie, Sunny… and the rest of you…” Jenna looked at the few young delinquents who had originally followed Nancy, her tone one of frustration.

“Boss Nancy has always treated you well!”

“How come when Boss Nancy is in trouble, none of you are seen, but the moment Lily calls, you all scurry over?”

“Are you all dogs?” Jenna finally yelled.

Nancy, who had just helped Sylvia up, watched Jenna’s outburst, surprised that this normally blunt girl could be so fiery.

Isn’t that a cute contrast?

“Alright, Jenna, let them go home,” Nancy told the young delinquents, “Whatever happened tonight, don’t worry about it. Even if the most authoritative lawyer in Tianzhou City comes, what I did was in self-defense, so…”

“Boss Nancy… I… we won’t talk nonsense! Definitely not!” The young delinquent called Julie was the first to declare.

“Yeah, yeah, we definitely won’t spout nonsense!”

“We didn’t see anything!”

“We were all instigated by Lily, please forgive us!”

……

In the end, after much persuasion, Nancy finally coaxed these young delinquents to leave.

She wasn’t worried at all about Lily or anyone from her side spouting nonsense about tonight’s events.

Firstly, because Nancy’s actions were indeed in self-defense, the police couldn’t do anything to her.

Secondly, these young delinquents weren’t clean themselves; involved in all sorts of vices, if their gossip attracted police attention, it would likely be them, not Nancy, who would be dealt with first.

“Boss! You were so cool just now! By the way… when did you buy this gun?” It was only now that Jenna had the time to focus on her boss, her eyes shining as she looked at the pistol in Nancy’s hand.

“If you like it, take it and play with it.” Nancy shook her head at Jenna’s expression and casually tossed the pistol to her.

“Nancy… you… why did you help me?” Sylvia, sitting on the curb, looked up at the girl who, just seven days ago, had joined Lily in bullying her, and asked in confusion.

“……” To be honest, Nancy didn’t want to answer this question; after all, she couldn’t possibly tell Sylvia that she had rescued her because of some inexplicable mission, could she?

“Just consider it an act of stepping in to help when seeing injustice.” Nancy lightly dropped this comment.

If she remembered correctly, the protagonist, Su Xiaoyu, should be appearing soon, right? Anyway, it was time for her to leave promptly; after all, she didn’t want to get involved with that still-naive demon hunter at the moment.

With that thought, Nancy didn’t pay any more attention to Sylvia, who was stunned into stillness by her words, and drove away from the scene with Jenna.

“This…” Sylvia was naturally baffled. The girl had been full of hostility towards her just yesterday, so why did she suddenly come to her aid tonight?

However, just as Sylvia was about to chase after her to ask, a young boy with cat ears suddenly appeared from the alleyway behind.3

Footnotes:

  1. Silva: Oof, she brought out the handgun!! Savage!
  2. Silva: Huh… the bullet really passed through the thigh? Wouldn’t that be very lethal if shot in the chest then? Even gunpower-driven ones don’t have that much piercing capacity!
  3. Silva: Wait, the protagonist is a nekoman? :o
