Jenna’s perplexing remark left Nancy and Hattori speechless—how could she seem so familiar with it??

After a moment of silence, Nancy carefully recalled, confirming that she hadn’t found any memories of committing crimes with Jenna in the original host’s recollections. She immediately called Candy.

Without beating around the bush, she simply said, “Candy, there seems to be something off about this underling of yours. Is there some side business she’s involved in that I don’t know about?”

Candy’s response was, of course, negative. How could Jenna, a girl so pure she could make Snow White1 blush, possibly be involved in such activities?

Since Candy replied in the negative, Nancy had no choice but to ask Jenna herself.

“Why don’t you seem surprised at all? Aren’t you afraid I might be some kind of serial killer?” Nancy asked, puzzled.

Jenna blinked in response, seemingly caught off guard by her boss’s direct question… Then, after a pause, she immediately replied, “No, of course not. I believe in you, Sister. You’re a good person.”

Nancy: ?!?

Nancy, unexpectedly branded with the label of “good person,” felt utterly bewildered. Furrowing her brows, she rubbed her temples and listened as Jenna continued, “Well, not the kind of goody-two-shoes, but I’m sure you’re someone with principles… Even if you do kill, it must be really, really bad people, right?”

As Jenna’s words trailed off, the car fell into an eerie silence.

Nancy hadn’t expected Jenna to trust her so implicitly! What kind of brainwashing had the original host done to earn such loyalty from this underling?

There was no way for the current Nancy to access all of the original host’s memories. Only when faced with familiar objects or people did fragments of memories hidden in her brain’s cortex surface, revealing small pieces of truth to Nancy.

Some might wonder why she didn’t ask Candy about it. Nancy had thought about it and tried it before, but Candy was also clueless about the situation. Her memories were fragmented and even less reliable than Nancy’s, lacking information even compared to the merged Nancy.

In this situation, Nancy had absolutely no way of knowing what Jenna had experienced with the original host.

“What if the people I kill are innocent?” Nancy continued, her tone carrying a hint of temptation.

She wanted to test Jenna’s limits. What would Jenna do if Nancy truly went on a rampage against innocent people one day?

“Innocent… innocent people?” Jenna froze, struggling visibly, but remarkably quickly regained her composure.

“Whatever happens, I stand by you, Big Sister. No matter what,” Jenna emphasized. The Nancy of her past life, who had read countless hearts, could certainly sense her sincerity.

Nancy was truly moved this time. What had the original host experienced with Jenna to earn such trust?

Candy’s consciousness in her mind was also puzzled, as she too had forgotten many things.

But just as Nancy was about to continue questioning Jenna about her past, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her chest!!!

It was a wrenching pain, as if her heart was being torn apart. Caught off guard, Nancy fell back onto the rear seat, overcome by the pain.

“Miss/Boss!”

Two startled exclamations came from beside her, but the fainting seemed to happen very quickly. Nan Yin didn’t even have time to say a word before she felt her vision darken, consciousness immediately fading away.

Meanwhile, at the headquarters of Longqian Group

Just an hour ago, Leah, the second daughter of the Longqian Group, was attacked by terrorists at the group’s medical center. Although Leah narrowly escaped injury, dozens of company security personnel lost their lives in the attack. This incident quickly alarmed various factions in Tianzhou City, causing a stir in the city’s undercurrents…

In the president’s office at the top of the Longqian Group headquarters, a middle-aged man in a white high-end suit frowned as he examined the medical report just delivered by his subordinates.

This medical report was, of course, for his beloved daughter, Leah. He had been holding onto it for half an hour already, unable to read it enough.

Leah, who had changed out of her torn dress, looked impatient as she watched her father’s face.

“Dad, I already told you I’m fine. Do you want me to do ten push-ups right here to prove it?” Leah said impatiently.

Raymond Lee sighed as he looked at the medical report in his hand. Dozens of medical experts had confirmed that his daughter was unharmed. He already knew she was safe, but he couldn’t shake off his worries…

“Your sister has already gone to the Shenhuan East Province. You can’t afford to get into trouble again. How am I supposed to explain to your mother?” Raymond sighed.

Seeing a hint of guilt on Leah’s face, he changed the subject. “By the way, you mentioned someone saved you. Who was it?”

Regardless of who saved his precious daughter, Raymond felt he should express his gratitude, even if it was some petty criminal on the run. Besides, in Raymond’s view, someone who dared to shoot and kill was unlikely to be just a petty criminal.

“Umm…” Leah thought for a moment about what Nancy had said before leaving. She made sure Nancy hadn’t specifically asked for help to conceal her identity, then replied, “That person is called Nancy… You probably don’t know her. She’s actually my classmate—”

To Leah’s surprise, her father’s expression didn’t just indicate recognition of Nancy; he seemed to know her quite well?

“Nancy? Are you sure about that name?” Raymond furrowed his brow before confirming.

Raymond’s brow furrowed deeper as he saw his daughter nod. “Does she also have a younger sister named Nina?”

“Yeah, yeah! Dad, do you know her?” Leah couldn’t help but ask curiously.

However, Raymond didn’t respond to Leah’s question. After a pause, he simply ended the topic, “You don’t need to worry about Nancy’s side; I’ll compensate her.”

Just as Leah was about to ask further, Raymond immediately continued, “In two days, Mr. Suzuki Jirokichi, the corporate consultant of the Suzuki Group from Japan, will be visiting our new industrial zone. Along with him will be the second daughter of the Suzuki Group. You’ll be in charge of hosting them.”

“All right, I still need to deal with the mess that just happened… You can leave now,” Raymond rubbed his temples.

Seeing that her father couldn’t be questioned further, Leah stomped her foot and left—after all, she could easily find Nancy if needed; she might as well ask her directly.

As he watched his daughter leave, Raymond turned and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window behind him, watching the busy drones and hover cars outside, sighing softly.

Nancy? The daughter of Nanshan?

This is truly… fate.

…………

When Nancy opened her eyes again, she found herself staring at the familiar ceiling—apparently, someone had brought her back home, undoubtedly Jenna and Hattori.

Her chest still ached faintly, and she had no idea what had happened. Her heart had pained her, and then she had passed out; at first, Nancy thought she had been shot.

Now it seemed… there was something wrong with the original owner’s heart? Nancy touched her chest and realized she had been changed into a light, thin nightgown.

Trying to sit up, Nancy felt the pain in her chest intensify sharply as she made the motion. Unable to do much, she had to lie back down, praying that Jenna or Hattori would hear her and come in to check on her—there were so many things she wanted to ask right now.

Perhaps her prayers had been answered; Nancy had barely laid back down for a few minutes before Jenna entered. The orange-haired girl’s eyes lit up as soon as she saw Nancy awake.

“Sis? How are you feeling? Are you okay?”

Nancy nodded at the inquiry; as long as she didn’t get up, her body could handle it.

“Oh, goodness, wasn’t it several months since your last illness? How did it happen again today?”

Jenna babbled on beside her, but Nancy furrowed her brow because as soon as Jenna mentioned this, a part of her memory had already surfaced.

“……”

A moment later, Nancy, having processed the memory, chuckled self-deprecatingly. Then she took the three dice-sized magnetic objects Jenna handed her and held them tightly against her chest, and the pain began to ease slightly.
