Nancy was initially pondering over the main storyline of the game when suddenly there was a knock on the door outside.

Who could it be at this time… Jenna? Nancy frowned.

Indeed, she had told the girl with orange hair to come over and take Nina and herself to school, but given Jenna’s personality, it was unlikely for her to be up this early.

Then… was it Nina, who had gone out at some unknown time, returning? Nancy sighed softly and got up to open the door.

Upon opening the door, the person standing outside was neither Jenna nor Nina.

Once she had a clear view of the visitor’s face, Nancy squinted her eyes and casually closed the door behind her.

This was a man in a suit and leather shoes, with evident electronic circuitry on his face and an electronic eye in his left eye socket, all indicating he was someone from the upper city area.

The briefcase in the man’s hand, bearing the Longqian Group’s logo, already revealed the visitor’s identity—he is a debt collector to whom the original owner’s foster father, Nanshan, owes money.

The man clearly paused for a moment after seeing who opened the door, and then he recognized that the beautiful girl in front of him was Nanshan’s adopted daughter, Nancy.

“Nancy… I really didn’t expect this.” The man squinted his electronic eye, as if scanning something.

“I didn’t expect that you, once unmasked… would be so… clean.” The man looked at the girl in front of him with an indifferent face and grinned.

“What are you here for? I remember today isn’t the day for debt collection.” Nancy watched the man scanning her unabashedly with his electronic eye and imperceptibly frowned.

“Hehehe… Little Nancy, remember this, collecting debts… is never about choosing the day.” The man’s smile faded a bit as he leisurely lit a cigarette.

“Want one?” The man offered Nancy a cigarette.

“…No, thanks.” Nancy’s face showed clear disgust when the man called her “Little Nancy,” and she swatted away the cigarette he offered.

“Hehe… The little girl has learned, huh? I wonder what Nanshan was thinking, wanting to give away such a cute daughter like…” The man seemed to be lamenting something, but upon seeing the expression of the snow-haired girl in front of him growing colder, he stopped that topic.

“Nancy, you know, you don’t have much time left,” the man said leisurely, taking a drag on his cigarette.

“If you haven’t paid off these debts by the time, it might not be me who comes next, but those rude security personnel… you know them well.”

“For such a pretty girl like you, who knows what might happen in their hands… right?” The man spoke of what he believed to be facts, then blew out four rings of smoke, looking at the girl in front of him with a pitying expression.

“……” Nancy listened to the man’s words without saying anything, her expression unchanged.

This surprised the man; the temperamental girl seemed to have changed her nature today.

“I’ve got the money, and I can pay it all back to you today,” Nancy said, a mocking smile on her lips.

“Oh?” The man was surprised, “Did you really sell it…”

“Snap!” Before the man could finish, a credit card was thrown into his hand.

“There are 200,000 credit points inside, enough to clear… my foster father’s debts, right?” Nancy frowned but still used a relatively appropriate term.

“200,000… 200,000…” The man scanned the credit card with his electronic eye, while his other, intact eye appraised Nancy uncertainly.

“As expected, Lubbock went to prison, it must be related to you, right?” the man sneered at Nanyin.

The silver-haired girl paused in her movements upon hearing the man’s words.

“So what if it is? In the lower city, it’s naturally the law of the jungle. Lubbock just had bad luck; I merely took advantage of an opportunity,” Nancy shrugged nonchalantly, though she clenched her fists in secret.

Unexpectedly, Lubbock, that scumbag, had some connection with the riffraff in front of her.

“No, no no no no,” to Nancy’s surprise, the man immediately denied it: “Lubbock is just a pitiful guy; he has already been officially removed from the organization.”

“An exposed stray dog is worthless; he is now just a pawn… Therefore, Miss Nancy’s 200,000 credit points, I will not inquire about their origin, and will only use them for the debt,” the man said seriously, shaking his head.

“As for you… Miss Nancy, I’ve suddenly become very interested in you,” the man appraised the stunning girl in front of him with interest: “You have inherited your mother’s bloodline well…”

“Don’t mention her in front of me,” Nancy warned, frowning: “And, you shouldn’t have forgotten, I am their adopted daughter; there is no blood relation between us.”

“Their biological daughter is Nina.”

After Nancy finished speaking, the man slapped his forehead as if he just realized: “Oh right, Nina…”

“Alright, now that the debt has been repaid, could you please leave? I think I need to have breakfast,” Nancy cut off the man’s desire to continue the conversation.

“If that’s the case… Longqian Group will thus end all debts against your foster father.”

“And you… Miss Nancy, I think you should seriously consider my proposal,” the man sincerely invited Nancy to join them again before leaving.

“Heh, I’ll consider it,” Nancy said softly, arms crossed and a look of mockery on her face as she watched the man’s retreating figure.

………………

Nina returned soon after, to Nancy’s surprise; the girl had gone out early in the morning to exercise!

Nancy was somewhat taken aback by the sight of the girl drenched in sweat, wearing the school’s gym uniform.

Seeing the dumbfounded expression on her sister’s face upon witnessing her exercise, Nina couldn’t help but frown and sniffle in disapproval.

“What’s the matter? Is there a problem with me exercising?”

“You locked me up for three whole days, three days without any exercise, and I had cramps all night long yesterday…”

Before Nina could finish, she saw her sister walk into the kitchen, completely indifferent.

Seeing this, Nina angrily bit her lip and stomped her foot in frustration.

Ignored again…!

Honestly, Nancy wasn’t particularly keen on seeing Nina at the moment.

Poor canary… I hope you never find out the truth. Nancy thought, a cold smile appearing on her lips.1

An external debt of 200,000 credit points, equivalent to 500,000 yuan in her previous life…

Nina never knew about these things; all she knew was that she had a jerk for a sister.

In any case… it’s best to send this girl to the protagonist as soon as possible.

Just then, the voice in her head, Candy, issued another mission.

【Main Mission #2: Escort your sister Nina into Carnales Academy.
Condition: Ensure Nina enters Carnales Academy after awakening her abilities, with her happiness level above 80%.
Reward for completion: Random.
Unlock Ending: “We Shall Meet Again, We Shall Face Everything.”】

“Didn’t you say you wouldn’t issue tasks related to Nin ? Little Candy?” Nanyin said with a light laugh.

This time, the voice inside her head didn’t respond to the question.

Escort Nina… into an academy for the gifted? Nancy looked at the little one in the living room, a cold smile on her face.

Due to the original owner’s foster father, the original owner completely lost the ability to awaken any abilities, so from a congenital standpoint, her sisterly bond with Nina couldn’t last.

After Nina enters the academy for the gifted, she will follow the protagonist, Su Xiaoyu, into a broader world, while she, Nancy, as an ordinary person, will only grow further apart from the girl in front of her who still harbors hatred towards her.

So… it’s indeed better to part ways sooner rather than later, after all, according to the timeline, she only needs to escort Nina for another two months. After that, it will be time for Roland High School to start the exams for advancing into the academy.

As a minor character doomed to failure, even if she changes her own bad end, she can’t change her weight as a dispensable character; it’s impossible for her to compete with these protagonists.

Indeed, it’s better to obediently follow the system’s instructions, save a few characters with tragic endings, and then retire to the countryside to live out her days in peace.

It’s just unknown whether Jenna will continue to follow her as always.

Probably not, after all, even Jenna has a higher chance of awakening abilities than the original owner did nine years ago, coming off the operating table.

“…” Just as Nancy was thinking of Jenna, a loud knock sounded again at the door.

Then, Jenna’s loud voice came from outside: “Boss, open the door! I’ve come to mooch a meal!”

Footnotes:

  1. Silva: So here’s my afterthought, I have a feeling the real Nancy actually cared about Nina and is trying to protect her from her biological parent who’s planning to sell her to pay off their debt and that Jenna knew everything and spilled the beans, so Nina is purposely acting spiteful to make Nancy hate her so she would sell her off without hesitation in order to protect her Nancy from the “foster” parent. Hm…. sounds a bit far-fetched?
