My daily life was occupied by preparations and idiot wrangling, but I think I had a lot of fun. Still, it made me realize just how frightening Ani is to be able to wrangle them. Ane was even speechless when she was looking through his memories.
“Nonetheless, I really can’t get used to dresses.”
“Probably because you don’t wear them regularly. I’m a lot less used to it than you are.”
It’s the day of the wedding. Kaori and I exited the car that picked us up and entered the venue. The security there was so strict, it freaked me out a bit. I imagine it’s because many of the attendees are individuals of high importance.
“I seriously feel out of place.”
“Don’t worry, Teacher Saeki is a commoner too.”
She might be a bit weird, but she’s otherwise a normal person. Look at Teacher Saeki’s relatives, they absolutely look like they’re out of their depth. Her friends are even pale in the face, so it’s alright.
“I’m sure there are celebrities around, but I honestly can’t tell.”
“You’re a celebrity too, aren’t you? Even though you don’t show your face.”
“I’m not hiding it now, though.”
I don’t need to hide my face during the ceremony. I just have to sneak out at the start of the reception to wear my disguise. It’s extremely unfortunate that I can’t eat the food served, but that should limit my interaction with the rogue’s den. It’s an equivalent exchange.
“Members of the twelve families are attending too, right?”
“It’ll mostly be the adults, so I probably won’t recognize them.”
Kotori, Hadzuki, and the Shimotsuki sisters are present. There also seems to be former students attending. Still, the only other person I recognize is Yayoi. And that very Yayoi being in a dress feels really out of place for some reason.
“Damn you, Hiiragi.”
“I don’t know the details, but that’s probably unjustified.”
“Ah, Kisaragi~, thanks for the other day~”
“No worries. It appears that Hiiragi has been in your care. Is she enjoyable to use?”
“She makes an excellent sandbag. She has great defense as well. She seems to be capable of distinguishing what not to eat by instinct.”
“What’s with this conversation?”
I just said that as a joke, you know? I didn’t expect her to answer seriously. Still, I’m sure it was a fun time for Yayoi. She’s smiling as if she’s thinking of what to try next, which has me a bit worried about Hiiragi’s well-being.
“Hiiragi has her limits too, you know?”
“For that, I have my stopper to make proper judgment, so there’s no need to worry.”
Yayoi pointed towards an unfamiliar man, who then gave a slight bow. I responded in kind, but I honestly don’t know who he is. Recalling Yayoi and Hiiragi’s conversation, I’m guessing that he must be Shiwasu.
“Oh, you two were already acquainted?”
“It’s been a while, principal’s older sister.”
“Oh, predecessor, long time no see.”
“Predecessor?”
“I just call her that.”
I honestly thought that she was the previous principal because of that. She and the principal are pretty close in age, so I should have known better. Still, I wonder why Yayoi calls her ‘predecessor.’ I don’t really see them having much common ground.
“They were the prominent problem children prior to your generation, so they left a strong impression on me.”
“Isn’t that insinuating that we are problem children as well?”
Don’t just respond with a smile. You too, Yayoi, don’t show me that grin. Hearing their history, it seems like the principal asked for his sister’s help because he was at a loss with how to handle Yayoi and her group’s extreme mischief. It seems like they were much bigger troublemakers than we were.
“I think we’re pretty similar.”
“I don’t cause that much trouble.”
“Rather, my fool of a brother was the one causing her trouble.”
You are absolutely right. Just how many events did I have to participate against my own will, all because of the principal? And as a result, I also got roped into more trouble. It’s no exaggeration to say that most of my problems were because of the principal.
“Keep up the good work, alright?”
“Since they’ve reached the point of marriage, this should already be out of my hands, shouldn’t it?”
“You’ll be with them until they have a child, obviously.”
Aren’t you extending the help period too much? Still, that would probably be the final end goal. Besides, it’s not like I can just barge in a married couple’s home. Leave them be and they should be able to make children on their own. I’m more concerned about what happens afterwards. There is also Ani’s history to consider.
“Jokes aside.”
“That didn’t sound like a joke at all.”
“That sounded serious to me too.”
This is just a wild guess, but don’t tell me that the principal and Shizuru will be coming to my apartment room in the future? I already have my hands full looking after Akane, it’s impossible for me to take care of two newlyweds too.
“I feel like I have a proper impression of the twelve families now.”
“What is it?”
“They never listen to people.”
“ “ “You aren’t wrong.” ” ”
We’ve had our own experiences of it, so it’s difficult to deny. However, I still have room for improvement, so I’m safe. Everything up until now was done by Ani and Ane, I’ve just started my life. I should be able to turn my reputation around.
“Now then, I’m going to see the new bride. Have to alleviate the nervousness and all.”
“So even Shizuru feels nervous. Why not give her some alcohol?”
“You’re too fast in giving alcohol.”
I honestly believe that that would instantly get rid of her anxiety. Though I guess I do feel bad for the principal if their kiss reeked of alcohol. Still, I can’t help but find it fitting for them. Before all else, has the principal acquired a liver strong enough to keep up with Shizuru’s drinking?
“I have to go now. Send Hiiragi and Nako my regards.”
“I don’t know what to say, so I’ll just tell them to be careful of an upcoming attack.”
Seeing that they can live an enjoyable life even without Ani, I felt a bit sentimental. Had Ani not died, he would have probably been dragged along with them. Not good, I can picture it being me instead.
“How do I say this? I think I said it before, but my image of the twelve families is shattered.”
“It wasn’t just our generation that was weird.”
“So you are aware of the weirdness.”
“It’s Hadzuki and Aya’s fault.”
Those two are just particularly weird, Kotori and I are still normal. The underclassmen, meanwhile, are generally less troublesome versions, so I’m praying that this year will be a peaceful one. And with the principal also happy with his situation, I shouldn’t get roped into many situations.
“Come to think of it, where’s Akane?”
“She took the initiative to go to Shizuru. She’s had a bridal experience, after all.”
“I suspect that Akane’s wedding wasn’t normal either.”
In terms of scale, Shizuru’s is far larger, so I’m not sure it can be used as a reference point. I heard that Akane’s wedding was pretty unique. However, just from the Shimotsuki family’s presence, I can easily imagine it being chaotic.
“And the rogue’s den people?”
“They should be preparing at the reception area. They were ordered not to drink, so it shouldn’t end badly.”
“So they would otherwise?”
“With them being adults now, you can’t let your guard around them.”
I know some who would drink alcohol under the pretense of calming their nerves. But I’m sure that even the fools would feel some level of nervousness in their first time fooling around in front of renown people.
“I really hope that they don’t fool around during the event proper.”
“You don’t sound confident about that.”
I’m just a mere bystander at the event proper, so I shouldn’t hold any responsibility. I genuinely hope that the audience isn’t completely sick of it by the time I step on stage. Seriously, I really don’t want to perform in front of a disinterested crowd. Even if they can’t see my face.
“Shall we go to the ceremony venue now?”
“Shouldn’t you at least check how they’re currently doing?”
“You’re right.”
I guess I’ll at least check through the group chat. The non-participants must be interested too. And for sure, things devolved into chaos as the non-participants sent arbitrary insults while the participants were mad about it.
“What are these idiots doing…”
“They don’t seem to be nervous at all.”
That’s strange. I was so sure that even these fools should be capable of feeling some nervousness. Now I’m genuinely worried about this.
