The Wearer of Death howled. It was an unpleasant, high-pitched voice that made onlookers want to cover their ears.

The black goat held up its trident and fanned its bat wings.

“Come!” Seletina yelled, her wings shining brightly.

Her action of turning her back on the black goat and departing from the scene was not considered ‘fleeing.’ She had calculated that allowing the fire to spread into the cityscape below would result in significant casualties, prompting her to leave the scene with astonishing speed.

As Seletina had expected, the black goat pursued her. Gold and jet black streaked across the crimson sky, moving faster than any horse could. The black goat struggled to catch up as Seletina outpaced him.

Gliding through the sky, the black goat extended its black, deformed hand toward Seletina ahead of it. Then, three black and crimson flames erupted from his hand, seething with scorching heat.

Seletina, who still had the memories of confronting the Wearer of Death in her past life, understood the peril of these flames, capable of melting all things in existence. Seletina’s heart raced as she maneuvered her wings of light, executing barrel rolls to evade the hellish flame that pursued her relentlessly.

She couldn’t help but gulp at the searing heat of the flames that narrowly passed by her. This marked the first time Seletina felt grateful for having cut her golden locks short.

She mused, “I don’t have a Holy Armor now, as I did as Orthus. I’m done for if those flames so much as graze me.”

Seletina was clad in men’s clothing from Leverence, and to be blunt, the only equipment that she could call her own was the Sacred Sword Elyutinias that she tightly gripped in her hand.

However, Elyutinias lacked the destructive power of the giant sword, Gate Burner, wielded by the current Commander of the Royal Knights, Loggins.

Seletina’s lack of formidable equipment meant that a single wrong choice could spell doom, especially when facing Upper Rank Demons. Fighting these formidable adversaries meant that even the slightest lapse in vigilance could be catastrophic.

Seletina braced herself once more, squeezing as much focus as she could.

Meanwhile, the Wearer of Death showed no signs of halting its relentless pursuit. The onslaught of the crimson flames intensified, making Seletina think that it might not only scorch her, but the entire sky itself.

“Haaa!” Seletina ascended higher and higher, ultimately plunging herself into the sea of clouds.

The flames, having lost their target, eventually passed close to Seletina, completely missing her. It seemed the diversion had succeeded as planned. However, a jet-black flash immediately followed, dispersing the clouds in the vicinity with a powerful heat wave.

“Whoa!”

It felt as if an explosion had occurred. Seletina gasped in shock, but the black goat was already closing in on her.

With its field of vision completely clear, it drooled and laughed ferociously, thrusting its trident toward Seletina’s head. Seletina turned swiftly, stopping the spear with Elyutinias and letting herself be pushed back from the impact.

Flight Magic was unfamiliar to her, and aerial combat was equally foreign. As she tumbled and soared through the air, her semicircular canals showed signs of distress. Although her brain and her vision had turned to mush, Seletina remarkably regained her posture with exceptional control.

The Wearer of Death, in turn, had no intention of waiting for Seletina to fall down. Hellish flames rained down upon her like a relentless hail of gunfire.

“Damn it!” Seletina cursed as she skillfully manipulated Elyutinias while tumbling down. The finely honed blade effortlessly tore through the flames controlled by the Upper Rank Demon under the sword master’s skill.

It was an odd sensation, observing the formless flames divide into multiple layers and vanish as if drawn with a ruler. The relentless onslaught resembled a storm, and Seletina’s defense was as fluid as flowing water.

The black crimson flames were completely obliterated by the shimmering silver of her sword. However, this victory was short-lived. A ray of flame pierced Seletina’s right wing.

“Damn!” She struggled to regain control of her now unbalanced wings. With one wing down, her body began to wobble and descend further.

The Wearer of Death howled with delight as it spun its trident and eagerly closed in on the falling Seletina. It was aiming to finish it. However, the trajectory of its grandiose trident attack was too predictable for Seletina.

“Don’t think you’ve won yet, fool!”

The trident ended up piercing Seletina’s left wing. Seletina quickly used her still-intact left wing as a makeshift shield against the trident and used the momentum to get behind the Wearer of Death.

In the next instant, Elyutinias flashed silver.

The Wearer of Death let out a high-pitched cry as the silver blade struck. There were no longer any wings on the back of the black goat, which now spewed copious amounts of red from its back. Both bat-like wings tumbled erratically in the sky, drenched in fresh blood.

In the blink of an eye, they plummeted, looming right over the streets of Ulbdor. The black goat and the angel, deprived of their ability to stay airborne, crashed onto the roof of a house in a tangled mess.
