First off, a heartfelt thank-you to every reader who's made it this far in the story! (Not sure if there are even double digits…)

Volume Two wraps up rather abruptly—did it at least get a chuckle out of you? Though, I believe I haven’t improved much in terms of writing finesse since Volume One…

But even if the stats are still heartbreakingly low, as long as you're still reading, I’ve got a reason to keep pushing forward.

Originally, Volume Two was supposed to end right after the date with Rinka. But when I realized it wasn’t quite as long as Volume One’s 160,000 words, I pulled in the early bits of Volume Three’s convention arc to pad it out and also wrap up the “Miyanaga Kohime” side story while I was at it.

This volume's central focus was Rinka.

As the protagonist’s “first love,” Tan Rinka was meant to be a much more complex character. But... the author being a dead fish with limited skill, some of her actions probably came across as abrupt or confusing.

Before their heart-to-heart in the bathroom, Rinka didn’t harbor any romantic feelings toward Chang Kai. She was simply using him to fulfill her need for recognition as a woman, and the visit to Yan Liuzhuan was really just to raise her own favorability in his eyes. That, and maybe she was a little jealous of Chang Kai’s god-tier good looks. (lol)

It wasn’t until after the bathroom incident that Rinka began to see him in a different light—those feelings of love in the budding stage, that sweet awkwardness of a girl just beginning to understand her own heart. That moment became the turning point where she decided to change herself.

By the end of Volume Two, after bonding over the water park and their one-on-one date, Chang Kai had earned a solid place in Rinka’s heart—enough to rival childhood friend Yan Liuzhuan.

Unfortunately, our protagonist is now unsure of his own feelings for Rinka, and no longer has the courage to confess again.

(Chang Kai: If I hop on that ship, I’ll never be able to flirt with other girls again!)
(Joker: Kid, you still need to master the art of nine-ship jumping.)

As for Rinka’s gender identity issues, my personal take is that she was a girl all along—just, well, born with a tiny teapot by mistake.

Anyway, even post-transformation, her chest is still barely bigger than her knees, right?

Also, she’s not done yet—Rinka still has plenty of story left in the main plot.

Now, let’s talk about the poor guy who might’ve just been NTR’d by our protagonist—Yan Liuzhuan.

From the very beginning, I had plans for him to be gender bent. I wanted to portray a cold, ascetic artist type—someone designed first as a character concept, and only later folded into the plot.

Beneath his calm, rational exterior lies a true artist’s soul. To him, the human body is already a perfect work of art, and he seeks beauty in its purest, most unadorned form.

As the “rival in love,” he’ll definitely get more time to shine in the future.

(Chang Kai: Not gonna comment on the “rival in love” part, but letting an exhibitionist like that become active? Sounds dangerous.)

Let’s move on to the leader of “Witch’s Workshop.”

Wu Qinglan was always meant to be a woman—there were hints from her very first appearance.

Driving Dad to and from work every day, giving advice on how to cure his “girl-phobia,” freeloading meals at the Chang household on the regular… isn’t that a little too obvious?

…Did any of you catch on?

Anyway, despite the 14-year age gap, our Lady Qinglan has clearly fallen for the mature and dashing Uncle Chang Wei.

Her story is just beginning, and who knows whether this bumpy romance will actually go anywhere in the end?

(Chang Kai: I don’t really see the appeal in my old man… By the way, we’ve finished Volume Two—where the heck is my actual mom?)

As for the side story of Brother Feng Wu and Xiao Cangyu—that pair of siblings got most of their situation cleared up in this volume.

Since Mai-chan’s not directly tied into the main plot, her appearances going forward will probably be limited.

But Cangyu, being one of Haitang’s right-hand girls, will still have a decent presence once the new school term starts.

Oops, I let that slip.

Anyway, in Volume Three, Biyang Girls Academy will become one of the main settings, and the real school-life arc will begin in earnest (probably). Look forward to the active debut of Miss “Chang Lingmeng”!

(Chang Kai: So you broke my legs just for this?!)

That’s all for now!

I believe there are much fewer readers who reached here compared to the first afterword, but still, thank you all and hope you had a good read up till this point.

We’ve barely reached 10% completion of this novel, and there are much more stories to be told about Kai and everyone around him.

With Volume 2 wrapped up, updates will not be as frequent from here onwards, I would like to preserve the quality of the translations as I feel it's getting sloppier by my own standards. But still expect regular updates every week or so as I still want to finish this project as soon as possible.

I would like to complain about some translation stuff since I have the chance to, and that's about the naming of characters. The author decides to use the Japanese naming style in Chinese and I can’t decide which names to use to make it consistent. FFS! If you feel the language reference is a bit weird just keep in mind this novel is mainly Chinese with Japanese elements.

Once again, thank you for staying to read!
