Aurora, overwhelmed by the constant struggle of staying alive, found the prospect of death more appealing. She felt a deep sense of hopelessness. When Yaeger nonchalantly agreed to her request for death, Aurora’s eyes widened in shock, staring at her in disbelief.

Aurora had expressed similar wishes to other physicians, but they always tried to instill hope in her, only leading to more disappointment and solidifying her despair. Her desire to die was intense; she longed to escape this miserable existence, believing that her death would set both her and her brother free.

In this moment, Yaeger’s agreement felt like a light in her dark world, making death seem almost comforting and warm for the first time.

“Can you really kill me?” Aurora asked, her eyes showing a rare spark of life, driven by her intense longing for death.

“Heh,” Yaeger responded with a wry smile. “Of course I lied. Did you really think I would kill you? That’s incredibly selfish of you.” Aurora’s complexion grew even paler upon hearing this. The pain of losing hope wasn’t the worst part; it was the crushing despair of regaining hope only to lose it again. Yaeger’s words cut deep, twisting like a knife in Aurora’s heart.

“I’m not…” Aurora stammered, tears welling up in her eyes as she tried to deny the accusation.

“No, you are a selfish and harmful being, just like a parasite,” Yaeger stated, leaning in so close that their faces were almost touching.

“I’m not…” Aurora attempted to protest, but Yaeger cut her off.

“You are!” Yaeger insisted, her gaze piercing into Aurora. The girl bit her lip, her eyes vacant as tears began to stream down her face, overwhelmed by grief. “Use your brain, even if it seems underdeveloped. If I were to end your life, do you think your brother Fiat wouldn’t seek vengeance? Let me be clear: I could easily take him down with a flick of my finger. By wishing for your own death, you’re essentially dragging him down with you. You are selfish, worthless, a parasite.”

Hearing these harsh words, Aurora was stunned. It was the first time in her life someone had spoken to her so bluntly and critically. She wanted to feel angry, to feel sad, but deep down, she knew there was truth in Yaeger’s words.

Her heart sank deeper into darkness, unable to find even a sliver of hope. At this moment, Yaeger continued, her voice tinged with a hint of irony, “However, even someone as hopeless and selfish as you can be healed by me. After all, I, Princess, am exceedingly kind.”

Aurora’s eyes welled up with tears. The cruel words that shattered her mental state were followed by a promise of healing, leaving her feeling like a puppet in the hands of a capricious demon.

“Leave, I don’t need your cure!” Aurora’s voice trembled with effort, but her words carried no conviction. Yaeger ignored her refusal, sitting on the bed and casually lifting the blanket. “Let’s see your condition,” she declared. Aurora, caught off guard and panicking, protested weakly, “What are you doing? No!” Her voice, however, was too faint to be assertive.

“I’m examining you,” Yaeger responded with an eye roll. “What else could it be? You think your emaciated body could possibly interest me?” Aurora’s fears were momentarily assuaged by these words. Who would find her current state appealing, after all? She felt a renewed wave of sadness and helplessness.

“Just cooperate with me, this will be done quickly,” Yaeger said with a hint of nonchalance. Aurora, despite feeling a twinge of unease at the somewhat odd wording, complied obediently. Yaeger swiftly removed Aurora’s clothes, her demeanor clinical and devoid of any desire. Even the near-perfect form of Alicia had failed to stir any desire in her, let alone Aurora’s emaciated body.

Aurora was deeply embarrassed. Despite it being a medical examination, being exposed and manipulated by a stranger was distressing. She lamented in her mind, ‘I’m so embarrassed… I can’t get married anymore~’ feeling utterly mortified. In stark contrast, Yaeger remained completely composed, focusing solely on the task at hand.

Yaeger’s eyes, glowing a faint green, keenly observed Aurora’s body. ‘To ensure the accuracy of my acupuncture, direct visual inspection is necessary,’ she thought, manifesting a large, green needle. Aurora’s complexion turned pale at the sight of the intimidating needle. ‘Soon, this large needle will pierce my body,’ she thought fearfully.

“Don’t worry, it looks more intimidating than it actually is,” Yaeger reassured her indifferently. The size of the needle was a necessity for the procedure. Yaeger quickly identified the source of Aurora’s illness—vast amounts of anomalous energy that drained her life force, akin to cancerous cells. ‘This will be a complex procedure,’ Yaeger mused, her expression turning serious as she began the treatment.

Just as the needle penetrated her body, the anomalous energy sprang to life, eagerly converging towards the energy released by the needle like hungry snakes devouring a tasty meal.

At this crucial moment, Yaeger swiftly retracted the green needle, her expression solemn. Shifting her gaze, she noticed the green needle had become slightly smaller. “Interesting,” she mused, her solemnity quickly giving way to a faint smile.

In truth, it was more advantageous if the disease couldn’t be cured so swiftly. Conveniently, this presented an opportunity for Yaeger to test her expert medical skills on a challenging case.

“Aurora, what comes next might be painful. You’ll need to endure it,” she advised. Aurora, in response, gave a light nod. It could have been a mere delusion, but she felt a sense of relief wash over her after the needle’s prick. “Don’t worry, I’ll definitely cure you,” Yaeger reassured her, gently stroking her dull yellow hair.

“Can I… Trust you?” Aurora’s voice was tinged with fear, haunted by the dread of seeing renewed hope extinguished repeatedly.

“Yes. Trust me,” Yaeger affirmed, and as she spoke, several green needles materialized in her hand, instantly pricking Aurora’s body. Soon after, the air was filled with the sounds of painful moans.
