A taunted target would be forced to move toward its provoker, but if an obstacle blocked its path, it would be stuck in place. Endless Sea was exploiting this mechanic, allowing his Taunt to work much like a stun.

Snowy was the most vulnerable of those on the outer perimeter. After all, strictly speaking, a Pugilist counted as a DPS class, so she had to be given priority protection.

Zane, meanwhile, tangled up one of the enemies beside Endless Sea to ease some of the pressure on him.

Then—

In such a confined space, the skill could unleash its full potential. A layer of frost coated every enemy, slowing their movements considerably.

Nangong had learned Guardbreak Arrow, which could greatly reduce an enemy’s physical defense.

Zaria and Wanderer focused their fire on the debuffed foes, sending dazzling bursts of skills from the gaps in the outer formation toward the center. This spot was perfect for unhindered DPS. Unfortunately, the level gap was too large, nearly half their attacks missed entirely. Even when they did hit, without Armor Break their damage barely broke a hundred. The difference in stats was simply too great.

Shiu swung his staff, and a blazing sea of fire erupted beneath the Dragon Abyss Knights.

The damage numbers rose in waves. This was a new skill learned by Mages after level 20 — Pyrestorm. It dealt continuous AoE damage in a 10×10 area. With this skill, farming monsters and leveling up would become far more efficient. Moreover, if an Assassin stepped onto the burning ground, they would be forced out of stealth instantly, greatly improving survivability.

Even so, the damage couldn’t compare to that of a Wishkeeper.

A wall of fire erupted at the center of the Pyrestorm, stacking a double burn!

“Damn, how can it be such a huge difference when it’s all fire?!” Shiu muttered enviously.

No one bothered to argue with him, because the Dragon Abyss Knight before them wore a dangerous expression. It raised its weapon high, a torrent of fiery energy surging to the blade as if it were painted with flames.

Even the frost covering its body melted away somewhat, and with that, the blazing Solar Cleave came crashing toward Zane.

Zane instinctively activated his defense, but the overwhelming force of the flames still sent him stumbling backward, colliding into Zaria.

At least he wasn’t sent flying… With so many people watching, getting blown away again would have been far too humiliating.

Zaria, on the other hand, let out a soft yelp, who knew where exactly she had been bumped, though the sensation was not entirely unpleasant.

‘No time to apologize… that wasn’t the only one. Every single Dragon Abyss Knight could use Solar Cleave!’

“Yoyo, take care of the one to Snowy’s right!” Zane shouted anxiously.

“Got it!” YoyoPink had been holding onto her skill, just waiting for this moment.

A long, gray whip shot from YoyoPink’s hand.

The moment it struck the enemy, it coiled around tightly, binding them fast.

‘Good, Snowy’s safe for now.’

“Use your potions the moment the cooldown is up! Don’t hold back! We won’t keep up with healing otherwise!” Seeing the enemy’s terrifying damage output, it was clear that if they didn’t act, their formation would be broken in no time.

Starry finally recovered from the stun and activated Unchained Will. Zane followed up with Spirit’s Heart buff.

At that moment, Starry felt a strange surge of confidence, ‘I can do this!’

The Autumn Moon Sword whirled in every direction, unleashing one astonishing damage number after another.

In an instant, every Dragon Abyss Knight closing in was slain outright! Even her HP was fully restored.

With the Blessing buff, Starry’s already frightening stats had reached an outrageous level. Coupled with critical hits, such damage was hardly surprising. Her teammates were stunned speechless.

“Holy crap, Stardust, you’re walking further and further down the road of insanity!” Endless Sea exclaimed.

“This has to be a cheat! This is absolutely a cheat! Even a hidden class doesn’t get to play like this!” Nangong was nearly in tears, they hadn’t even worn down a single one yet, and she had already wiped them all out in one go?!

But the vacant space left by the fallen monsters was quickly filled by the Dragon Abyss Knights behind them in less than a few seconds. There were simply too many of them!

Seeing the next wave about to charge in, Starry realized, ‘No, we won’t be able to hold the next wave! Frenzied Blade!

A storm of blood-red sword energy roared forward, carving a swath through the front ranks.

The heavily wounded knights lasted only a few seconds on the Pyrestorm before collapsing, but were again replaced by the ones behind.

Worse, quite a few Dragon Abyss Knights now had faint dragon spirit phantoms swirling around them, that had to be Dragon Soul Armor!

“This defense skill is disgusting! I can’t even break through it anymore!” Wanderer gritted out.

Assassins already struggled against heavy armor, and with Dragon Soul Armor active, it seemed to nullify most of the damage, forcing Wanderer to only deal a token 1-point scratch.

Sure enough, even Starry’s damage now looked unimpressive. Worse still, taking advantage of Dragon Soul Armor’s protection, several enemies unleashed Solar Cleave!

“Starmew, freeze them!”

The Frostfang Tiger obeyed instantly, whipping its head around and unleashing a torrent of Frost Breath from its jaws, freezing three targets solid in one breath.

At last, they had survived another wave.

These Dragon Abyss Knights apparently wouldn’t use Charge at close range, which was a great relief. Otherwise, Zane couldn’t guarantee they would have held out.

Lordsey hurled an explosive into the enemy ranks, but the chaotic trampling drowned out its effect. The sheer number of enemies made it barely noticeable. If the first floor’s challenge was already this brutal, it was hard to imagine what lay ahead.

Suddenly, two consecutive Solar Cleaves came crashing toward Snowy. ‘Damn, in all this chaos I completely missed those two!’

“Haha, don’t panic, watch me!” Endless Sea laughed loudly. Having slain over a dozen elite epic mobs, his level had already risen to 21! Almost at the very moment he leveled up, he swapped in the Guardian’s Heart from his inventory— such speed, truly the reflexes of a lifelong bachelor!

His HP and defense rose significantly, but most importantly, he gained access to its special skill: Guard!

It activated, and a white barrier appeared over Snowy, splitting 50% of the damage she took to Endless Sea.

With double healing and potion recovery, she barely clung to life with a sliver of HP. Even Endless Sea, who took the shared damage, was left at critical health!

“Yoyo, swap Lordsey into Snowy’s position! Sea, move a bit further inside, or we’re done for!” Zane gritted out.

“Got it!”
“Understood!”

Thankfully, Snowy’s petite frame allowed her to quickly retreat to the rear and slowly recover her HP. Lordsey, with over 4,000 HP, could hold the line for a while longer.

Her own rapidly dropping HP climbed back over 3,000. But still… Staring at the endless tide of enemies before her, she had no idea how they were supposed to keep fighting.
