After instructing the Snowfeather Goblins and Gray Wolves to hide, Starry crushed a Return Scroll in her hand. A glowing magic circle unfurled from the parchment beneath her feet.

Fortunately, the teleportation circle had not been destroyed.

It was worth noting that Zane could still use a Return Scroll even while in Swiftshadow Wolf form.

Earlier, he had taken a quick glance at the forum and found that the situation in most regions looked grim. In some towns, the teleportation circle had already been shattered by powerful monsters.

Still, with Sheen in charge, there shouldn’t be any major danger in Wynwater City.

Every town had its own garrison and a commanding general, most of whom were around Level 30 and of Unique rank. As for the regular guards, their strength typically averaged around Level 25 and Epic rank.

Beyond that, the other residents and defenders were completely random, or determined by the storyline itself. Not every town was fortunate enough to have a powerhouse like Sheen to rely on.

As the light of teleportation faded, Starry appeared in Wynwater City, only for a blinding flash to cut through the air as a gleaming blade came slashing straight at her face. She reacted instinctively, drawing the Autumn Moon Sword in one swift motion to block the strike with a sharp clang!

The skeletal figure loomed over the girl, its hollow eye sockets flickering with a hint of confusion. A thin wisp of white smoke curled from the edge of its blade as it gathered strength for a Wraith Slash!

Starry reacted at once. With quick footwork, she slid into an S-shaped step and slipped behind the enemy.

The creature’s form was bizarre, its upper body that of a man fused to a horse’s back, not unlike a centaur, yet entirely made of bones.

Normally, mounted combat was only meant for charging, traveling, or fighting bosses, as mounts provided attribute bonuses and better crowd control. But in PvP, that was another story entirely, especially in a one-on-one fight.

Mounts had many advantages, but also one fatal flaw: they turned slowly. In other words, the rider’s body wasn’t their own, and their rotation speed was poor.

With skillful maneuvers, one could keep circling behind such an opponent and keep striking, while the mounted foe struggled to hit back.

However, this undead rider clearly didn’t share that weakness.

The Undead Centaur’s attribute window appeared before Starry’s eyes.

‘A Unique monster!? Slightly weaker than the Diamond Lizard, but still a dangerous foe.’

Before it could turn around, Starry focused intensely and unleashed a seamless combo of Normal Attack + Icy Moon Slash + Normal Attack!

The fluid chain of attacks landed perfectly. Compared to before, Starry could feel her reaction time sharpening even further.

The Undead Centaur’s HP dropped by half in an instant. Frost spread rapidly over its skeletal frame, freezing the creature solid, a long-awaited frozen effect!

**Swish! Swish! Swish!**

At that moment, the others also returned via teleportation. Starry said nothing. She drew her sword and unleashed Blade Dance!

A lucky critical! The centaur that had slaughtered countless players fell easily to her strike.

“What the—!? The monsters already broke into the city?” Nangong exclaimed in disbelief.

Beyond the one near the teleportation circle, a single glance revealed more than a dozen Undead Centaurs rampaging through the streets!

A helpless NPC was cut down in one blow, collapsing into a pool of blood.

“I… I’ll fight you to the death!” came the voice of a young woman. A surge of Healing light burst from her hands! But her target wasn’t the fallen NPC. It was the undead that had slain her companion!

The priest’s Heal was deadly poison to the undead. The spell blasted more than 1,000 damage in a single hit. But that act undeniably enraged the monster. It brandished its weapon and charged straight at the woman.

She trembled all over and tried to run, yet her speed could not compare at all. Zane naturally saw it happen.

“Do not harm my master!”

That’s right, the name floating above the woman’s head read ‘Sylvia,’ the master alchemist. If she died here, who knew how serious the consequences would be. Unfortunately, no one understood wolf speech.

The white wolf’s body gathered into crackling light and, in an instant, crashed into the enemy.

The Undead Centaur staggered backward again and again from the impact.

“My goodness…” Sylvia covered her mouth, seemingly unable to make sense of what she was seeing.

“Don’t just stand there! Go help them,” Starry urged quickly. If they let these things keep killing, there would be no NPCs left in the city.

“Oh, right!” Everyone jolted to their senses. There was no time to think through the situation. They had to save whoever they could. Even so, the Undead Centaur was, after all, a Unique boss¹. A single Wraith Slash took half of Endless Sea’s HP and inflicted a frightening ticking damage.

The damage numbers glowed purple, indicating that the attack was especially effective against living beings.

‘No, this is too slow,’ Starry muttered through gritted teeth. “Focus your attacks on one target, Zane and I will save the others!”

“Got it!”

DumbCitrus quickly refreshed Battle Hymn and Inspiring Chant, which also reminded Zane. He swiftly shapeshifted into the Wishkeeper and invoked Blessing! A radiant aura enveloped the party, granting a 20% boost to both attack and defense. With that, even the Undead Centaur would have a hard time one-shotting them now.

Zane then took on his Swiftshadow Wolf form once more, and Starry leapt gracefully onto his back. At the same time, she opened her Pet Space, and the air turned frigid as the Frostfang Tiger emerged.

As for Morthar, its size was far too large to summon here.

‘That’s right, I still have that skill—Summon Gray Wolves.’ Zane tapped his right forepaw against the ground, and three intricate ash-gray magic circles flared to life before him. Moments later, three Gray Wolves emerged from the light. A quick glance at their stats showed they were identical to the original Elite Gray Wolves.

‘Sigh, three complete pushovers. Still, better than nothing. They could draw aggro.’

“Chief, what should we do?”
“Lure those undead over to us.”
“Understood!”

The three wolves did not hesitate. They turned at once and sprinted off. They were only summoned phantoms anyway, so there was no burden using them like this.

Spotting two swaggering Undead Centaurs on the left, Zane raised a wolf claw and cast Tempest Field. Countless wind blades swept forth, catching the attention of both undead centaurs at once.

At the same time, Starmew flung an Ice Spike and pulled another one away. Starry did not stand idle either. Frenzied Blade swept out and clipped two more enemies.

The three Gray Wolves performed admirably, darting in to swipe once before retreating. They actually managed to pull three Undead Centaurs.

They were cut down in the next instant, each felled by a single sword strike. Even so, they had attracted eight of them. Counting the first one they had engaged and the ones Shiu’s group was holding back, the tally had already reached ten.

A closer look showed three more unpulled. “Sea, the rest are yours!”

Endless Sea was being driven back step by step. “What?” He glanced over and saw a whole string of Undead Centaurs chasing right behind Starry.

“Are you kidding me? You pulled that many?”

One of those had nearly one-shotted him by itself. Even so, thinking of the city’s NPCs, he gritted his teeth. “Stardust is going that hard. We can’t fall behind. Yoyo, have Lordsey use Swift Step to pull one. Nangong, you go too.”

“Okay!”
“Understood.”

This was no time to shirk. The fate of Wynwater City was tied directly to their own future.
