After confirming that his body was intact, Zane let out a sigh of relief.
But what was with the other perspective?
On the other side, the familiar glowing light appeared once again, transforming into the chibi version of Little Sprite.
“Eh? Master, why are you back again? This place is supposed to be accessible only once!” Little Sprite exclaimed in surprise.
“…I was about to ask you the same thing.” As Zane spoke, he felt something off.
His voice… why did it sound so much like a girl’s? And not just any girl—it felt oddly familiar.
“Little Sprite, can you conjure up a mirror for me?” Zane asked.
“No problem, leave it to me!” Little Sprite pulled out a small wand, gave it a light shake, and the scattered light particles coalesced into a mirror about half a person’s height.
Zane stepped closer and was startled by what he saw.
The reflection in the mirror was that of a girl. She had purple hair tied into a simple ponytail, secured with a silver hair tie. Her bangs were neatly trimmed. She had a youthful, heart-shaped face with a touch of childishness. Her dark, shiny eyebrows furrowed slightly, while her rosy lips pressed together tightly. Her ruby-like eyes radiated a look of confusion.
Starry?! How could it be her? What is going on? Why is Starry here? Wasn’t she just a character from my dreams?
No one could give him an answer.
“Master, once you cross the gate, you can register your character,” Little Sprite reminded dutifully, though it was clear the situation puzzled it as well.
“Ah! Oh, right,” Starry responded, jolted out of her thoughts.
Wait, how did it recognize me? It had mentioned ‘again,’ which suggested it is the same sprite as before. Yet the sprite’s appearance has changed completely, even its gender.
“How… how did you recognize me?” Starry asked cautiously.
Little Sprite tilted its head. “Master is Master, of course I recognize you.”
“…”
Forget it.
“How do I log out?” Starry asked instead.
“You just need to open the system menu and select the logout option. Oh, but you can’t log out during combat, so please be mindful of that, Master~” Little Sprite explained cheerfully.
Starry didn’t reply. Instead, she followed its instructions and tried the command.
Zane quickly removed his gaming helmet and looked around.
Everything was as it should be. Shiu was lying on the sofa, seemingly grinding hard in the game. Zane’s body was normal, and there was no trace of Starry anywhere.
That was too bizarre…
“Shiu, did you have any problems when logging in?” Zane asked after some thought.
“What problems? None at all. By the way, what’s your beginner village number, Zane?” Shiu asked while continuing to battle in the game.
“Huh? There are numbers? Wait, let me log back in and check.”
“Come on, why’d you even log out? Hurry up! If you don’t seize the early-game advantage, you’ll fall behind later!” Shiu grumbled.
“Nature calls, you know,” Zane said sheepishly with a grin.
Putting the helmet back on, Zane reappeared in the beginner village. What’s more, Starry was still in that corridor!
…Is this a dream? Could this game actually support dual login??
Zane’s mind froze for a moment.
“Zane, why are you taking forever just to log into a game?” Shiu called out.
“Oh, oh, I’m in! Let me check…” Zane responded, then awkwardly asked, “Uh… where do I check the village number again?”
“I can’t believe you! Open the menu and look at the map name!” If Shiu weren’t busy leveling up, he might’ve punched Zane by now—how could someone be so clueless?
“Found it! My number is 00069,” Zane replied.
“Ugh, I’m at 00035. Looks like we’ll have to level up on our own until we hit level 10. Once we leave the beginner village at level 10, we’ll meet up. If you don’t understand something, just ask. Also, try teaming up with other players to grind mobs—it’s much more efficient.”
“Got it!”
“Good luck! Whether we strike it rich depends on this game!”
“Don’t worry, I’m a veteran at this.”
“…”
…
Zane really was a veteran, though he wasn’t entirely used to the feeling of fully immersing himself in the game as his character.
He still didn’t understand why Starry had appeared here, but since the game effectively gave him two accounts, he certainly wasn’t complaining.
Though managing two perspectives was a novel experience, it didn’t interfere with Zane’s gameplay. In fact, he found it surprisingly easy to multitask between the two.
Zane walked toward one of the few NPCs in the village.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Starry stepped through the gate, experiencing the same registration process as before.
“Stardust”—originally the name of an outfit—now became Starry’s in-game ID, perfectly suited to her.
Confirm!
Ding!
This ID has not been taken. Do you wish to register?
Yes!
Registration successful!
Next came the race selection. Just like before, three figures appeared, representing the three racial options, each modeled after Starry’s own form.
Each had its strengths, but Starry still chose the Human Race. It was worth noting, though, that the Beastman version of Starry had gray-toned skin and a pair of fuzzy cat ears atop her head, making her look absolutely adorable.
Then came the lengthy battlefield cutscene.
✦✧✦✧✦
“Sir, you seem troubled. Is there something I can help you with?” Zane asked politely.
“Sigh, the rabbits near the village used to be so tame, but recently, one of them bit my granddaughter, Lotus. Could you help teach those wild rabbits a lesson?” the old NPC asked.
Ding!

At this moment, Starry had completed her registration and appeared in the central plaza of the beginner village. She instinctively opened her map to check her location.
“00069…” Wait, seriously? Is my luck really that good? Or… was it because both characters are controlled by me?
The truth remained a mystery, but one thing was certain: leveling up together would definitely make things much easier.
First things first—let’s go accept the quest. Starry hurried over, only to spot another version of herself in front of the old man, using the ID “Emberveil” and dressed in ragged clothes. Seeing himself from Starry’s perspective was truly a strange experience.
Zane turned and walked away to check if there were any other quests nearby, leaving Starry to take on the rabbit-hunting quest.
As Starry approached, the old man’s previously listless gaze suddenly became sharp and intense.
This old man… could he be…
“Young lady, I can tell you’re no ordinary person. I have a desperate request and hope you can help me,” Harold bowed his head humbly.
What is this development? Both accounts are beginner characters, yet the male character and the female character triggered completely different scenarios. This is unfair! When would male characters ever get their chance to shine?
“Please don’t do that, sir. I’m not worthy. Tell me what’s troubling you first,” Starry quickly helped him back to his feet.
Harold lifted his head and let out a deep sigh. “This village used to be completely isolated from the outside world. But about a month ago, something happened in the cave to the north of the village. Ever since then, the animals nearby have turned violent. The young men we sent to investigate were almost all injured.”
It seemed that was just the beginning.
Harold continued, “The injured villagers lost their senses and even attacked those around them. Fortunately, herbal remedies have been able to suppress the symptoms, but this is only a temporary solution. The violent animals are now encroaching on the village itself. Even my granddaughter… Lotus…”
Tears streamed down Harold’s face.
“What can I do to help?” Starry asked.
“The source of all this chaos lies within that cave. If you have the courage, please venture inside and uncover the root of the problem. If you can return safely, I will… I will give you my family’s heirloom.”
Ding!
System Notification: Harold has issued an S-rank quest,
