After that, it was a mix of pain and joy as they continued farming monsters. The Blood Bats, whether in terms of attributes or skills, were essentially bug-level creatures in the Beginner Village. No wonder the cave exploration quest was rated as S-rank. Without powerful damage output, no one could outlast their Life Drain skill.

However, with Starry present, the Blood Bats’ abilities had no chance to shine.

After the tenth Blood Bat fell, Endless Sea leveled up to level 8.

“Just one more level, and I can finally use the Fractured Hammer, hahaha! Once I get that, I won’t need to lure them like this anymore—one hit, one kill!” Endless Sea exclaimed with laughter.

Looking at the scattered group of bats, Zane said, “If we clear out all these Blood Bats, it should be enough to get all of us to level 9. The only question is how long this smoke will last.”

“It’s fine; we’ll just do our best to clear them.”

“Yeah.”

As they continued luring monsters, Shiu suddenly spoke up in the living room.

“Zane, have you heard the news?”
“Heard what?”
“The Temple Guild! Early this morning, they already discovered a mysterious cave filled with Blood Bats.”
“…”
“And just now, they hired over a dozen low-level players to rotate into the cave to lure monsters! They attack the last one as it returns, so it doesn’t trigger the aggro of the whole group. With this strategy, they’ve probably wiped out most of them by now!”

It was true—there was strength in numbers. Who would’ve thought they’d use a human wave strategy to beat this?

“Zane, isn’t your party working on the same quest? I heard that completing high-level quests affects the storyline. If they finish it first, it might overwrite your progress!”

“I understand.” Zane nodded thoughtfully.

“Sea, we need to change our strategy,” Zane said.
“What’s going on?”
“The Temple Guild is about to finish clearing the Blood Bats using their human wave strategy.”
“Seriously? In such a narrow cave, how many people can they even fit in there?”

“It’s probably true. This has been all over the internet. From now on, we won’t lure the monsters anymore—we’ll go straight for the kill,” Starry interjected.
“…Miss Stardust, we can’t kill them outright. If their Life Drain activates, it’ll be a huge problem.”

“I can deal 150+ damage. Zane can do about 50, and you can hit close to 70. That’s a total of 270 damage, and that’s just normal attacks. The Blood Bats’ weak point is their heads. If we aim for that, and I land weak-point hits with every strike, it should be enough to deplete their HP completely.”

Endless Sea sighed. “Miss Stardust, I know you’re amazing, but the bats’ heads are so tiny. How are you going to aim for that? If something goes wrong, we could all get wiped out!”

“It’s not just me—you’ll need to do it too. Once you hit level 9, you and Emberveil will take on one bat together, and I’ll handle one on my own.”

Endless Sea fell silent and took a deep breath. “Fine! It’s been a while since I’ve played something this thrilling. Just a few bats, right? Bring it on!”

At that moment, a Blood Bat, its movements erratic from the smoke, flew toward them.

“It’s here!”

From Starry’s perspective, she focused intently. The weak point was its head. It was about to move… left. Without hesitation, a silver flash streaked across the air, producing an astonishing blue damage number:

A second later, Endless Sea’s attack landed as well. Although it only grazed the head, it struck the bat’s wing.

Finally, Zane delivered the finishing blow.

In just one round, they actually managed to kill the Blood Bat instantly!

“So close,” Endless Sea lamented. Although the damage was sufficient, failing to hit the weak point consistently left him worried about how they’d handle the bats once he reached level 9.

Zane saw through his concerns. “There’ll be plenty of chances to practice. Take it slow.”

“Next one,” Starry said calmly.

And so, like an autumn breeze sweeping away fallen leaves, they eliminated over 80 Blood Bats in just ten minutes.

Starry had already reached level 9, while Endless Sea was at 95% of level 8, and Zane was at 87% of level 8.

Slash!

Another exaggerated blue number appeared.

Through repeated practice, Endless Sea gradually grasped the movement patterns of the Blood Bats. By predicting their direction and estimating the right position, he could time his strikes perfectly.

It sounded difficult, but the repetitive practice gave him an almost instinctive sense of timing. Now, over half of his attacks were hitting the weak points!

A golden light flashed.

Endless Sea leveled up.

“Hahahahaha!” He burst into wild laughter and immediately equipped the Fractured Hammer. Like a child with a new toy, he couldn’t wait to try it out.

The iron hammer swung with tremendous force, crashing unstoppably toward the Blood Bat’s head.

The damage was already higher than Starry’s damage before leveling up! Moreover, the heavy blow slammed the Blood Bat directly into the ground.

There was even secondary damage from the impact!

“This is totally broken!” Zane muttered, swinging his sword to finish off the Blood Bat.

The Fractured Hammer, as a heavy weapon, was undoubtedly top-tier in terms of attack power. Its strength boost also had a hidden effect—knocking the Blood Bat straight to the ground and crippling it in one strike!

Even with the weak-point attack bonus, the result was still overwhelming. It was simply too overpowered to use a rare weapon on an uncommon monster.

“I’m the main DPS now!” Endless Sea roared with laughter, full of confidence.

He quickly targeted another monster. Unfortunately, this time he failed to land a weak-point attack.

Heavy weapons inherently had slow attack speeds, and the Fractured Hammer had an additional debuff that further reduced speed. In a split second, Endless Sea found himself helpless, like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered, as the Blood Bat flew menacingly toward him.

Seeing the situation take a turn for the worse, Zane hurriedly directed Starry over to assist. With one clean strike, the bat was dispatched.

Starry massaged her forehead and said, “Be more careful. If you don’t hit a weak point, retreat immediately. I have a feeling there’s more in this cave than just Blood Bats.”

Endless Sea lowered his head sheepishly. “Yes, ma’am… I got too cocky.”

Another 10 minutes passed, and all the Blood Bats lay defeated.

“Oh, right, I just got a new piece of equipment,” Starry said, sharing its stats with the group.

“Wow, armor! With that, getting hit won’t hurt as much,” Endless Sea commented.

“Do you want it, Sea?” Zane asked.

“No need. I already have the Fractured Hammer. You guys can take it.”

Hearing this, Zane pocketed the armor. After all, none of them were level 10 yet, so they couldn’t use it right away.

“Let’s head inside,” Zane said, taking out a torch.

As the trio ventured deeper, the cave became more winding and labyrinthine.

“Sea, stop bumping into me. It’s creepy.”
“?? Who bumped into you?”
“Don’t play dumb. There are only two… three of us here.”
“What the hell? Why would I touch you? I’m not gay.”

If it wasn’t him, then who was touching me? Zane froze.

Suddenly, a terrifying possibility crossed his mind. Slowly, he turned his head, only to be met with a horrifying sight.

A grotesque face stared back at him, its mouth wide open, revealing vicious fangs.

A giant Blood Bat was clinging to his back, ready to drain his blood.

“Ahhhhhhhhhh!”
