The man seated on the throne, his voice smooth and deep, let out a soft chuckle. Abd’s eyes widened at the mention of the word, hero.

“Hazord has discovered the water. As for the fire temple… Let’s leave that to Luar.”

Each figure bowed their head solemnly, pressing their hands to their chests in reverence.

“Rodolphe. You may act as you see right. Save your strength for now. But remember. Do not fail in entertaining me.”
“ “ “ “Yes!” ” ” ”
“When my slumber comes to an end, may I bear witness to the celebration of my unsullied priestess and my chalice.”
“It will be as you command, King of Beginnings, Master Alz Alf.”

Rodolphe dropped to one knee, his black robe pooling around him like ink. Clarimonde mirrored the gesture, her head bowed deeply. The other attendants, who surrounded the throne, followed suit.

And through it all, Alz Alf’s amused chuckle echoed once more in the dark, flickering room.

When Susie arrived, a few vampires remained.

She watched from a distance as three low-ranked soldiers held back the four Lesser Vampires with their shields.

Then, she jumped from behind them, spun mid-air, and with her head looking toward the ground, swung both swords, slashing wildly at all four vampires at once. After taking care of all four vampires, she landed on the ground.

When the three soldiers saw the pieces of the vampires vanish before their eyes, they exclaimed in amazement. After glancing to confirm the three were safe, Susie rushed straight to Howard’s side.

“Sir Howard! Sir Howard!!”

Having spotted Howard, Susie spoke with delight and ran to him.

“Sir Howard! Thank you for the lovely swords!”

When she reached Howard, Susie smiled brightly and hurriedly thanked him for the swords.

“Oh, Susie! You’re back! How do the swords feel?”
“They’re very easy to use! Also, I’m very grateful for the feelings you’ve put behind them, Sir Howard.”

Susie looked down for a moment but immediately lifted her head and gazed straight up at Howard. Howard nodded repeatedly, his face breaking into a smile.

At the time, Gary Meyers slaughtered the last of the Lesser Vampires, turning them to dust. Seeing that, Rufino dropped to sit on the ground, his strength evidently having run out. Beside him, Randolph leaned against his tower shield, breathing heavily.

“S-Seems like it’s over…”
“Yeah… My legs have given out!”
“Me too! The girl just now… Isn’t that Susie Cloud?”
“That’s right. That’s Susie. Amazing, isn’t she?”
“Amazing. Hey, Kenneth.”
“What is it, Rufino?”
“How do I get a membership card?”
“A-Are you for real?” Randolph asked.
“I am, Randolph. I am.”
“Everyone who’s been awoken to her greatness is welcome to the fan club.”
“Can I join too, then?”
“Of course, Randolph! Just say the word!”

And that’s how two new membership cards came to be.

“Looks like it’s over…” Howard muttered as he watched the last of the vampire dust disappear.
“I’ve taken care of the school.” Susie said as she looked out over the village.
“You went there, Susie?”
“Yes. Everyone is safe. They’re all fine!”

Susie answered with a bright smile. At her words, Marcel Avans sat down with a sigh of relief. Gary Meyers patted Marcel on the shoulder and nodded, sharing in his friend’s joy as he, too, let out a relieved sigh.

“The house is safe, too! Oh, yeah! Mama Sonia is preparing a herb bird! We should hurry back, Sir Howard!”

Susie said, clapping her hands in front of her chest, and immediately began heading back. Then, as if realizing something, Howard stopped her and asked with his eyebrows raised. “Susie, wait a moment.” Susie looked at Howard with concern, wondering what was wrong.

“Susie, did you just call Sonia, Mama?”
“Oh…”

Howard and Susie looked at each other for a while.

“That’s…. Um… How should I say this… What about me?” Howard asked.
“What? Well… Howard… Pa… Um…”

Howard scratched his cheek and looked embarrassed, but his eyes silently urged Susie to speak first, almost pleading with her. Susie’s eyes darted around, and her face turned bright red.

“Sir Howard is still Sir Howard!” She shouted.
“S-Susie?” Howard asked, his expression somewhat sad.

Ryder, watching from the side, couldn’t hold it in any longer and burst out laughing.

“B-Boss, that’s… Fufufu!”
“Ryder?! You!!!”

Howard turned to look at Ryder with an embarrassed expression. He had forgotten he was even there. Seeing Howard like this allowed Ryder to fully relax.

It was hard to believe that the Howard before him was the same man who had just put his life on the line to fight. The Iron Demon from moments earlier had now become just an old man, radiating a warm, fatherly affection. Ryder laughed heartily. Howard scratched his cheek even more awkwardly. Susie, watching the scene unfold, scolded Ryder, saying, “Why are you laughing at Sir Howard?”

With tears in his eyes, Ryder bowed his head and apologized to Susie.

“Sir Howard. I’ll check on the school first and then go home.”
“You still have some things to clean up, don’t you?” After Howard asked this, Susie turned to him and straightened herself.

“Thank you for your service.”

She bowed her head in a deep, graceful motion, as if offering a formal salute to Howard. Ryder was momentarily stunned by Susie’s actions.

“You did well, too, Susie.”
“I haven’t! It’s thanks to everyone!”

Susie said with a bright smile. Then she immediately turned to Ryder, tilted her head, and said with a cheerful voice.

“You too, Sir Ryder! Thank you for your efforts!”

(Great job, Ryder!)

“L-La…”

Ryder’s wide-open eyes, fixed on Susie, reflected the nostalgic image of Lavinia’s smile—the expression he had long searched for. She tilted her head and smiled just like Lavi used to do, always looking at him with gentle, kind eyes.

A warm, overwhelming feeling surged in Ryder’s chest. Susie turned to Howard and said, “Please come home soon,” before running off toward the school.

“I will, Lavi… I will.”

Ryder looked away from Susie, murmuring softly again and again. When one looked at his back, all they could see was sadness.

Howard stood beside Ryder, embraced him, and gently tapped his shoulder.

“Let’s go bring flowers tomorrow. We have to tell Lavi everything that happened.”
“We do!”

Ryder replied, heavy tears falling endlessly from his eyes.
