  • School Courtyard – 12:25 PM

“I wanna see Susie’s panties!”
“Bleh!”

At the sound of Alan Edgar’s muttered words, Lombard Brook spat out the turkey sandwich he had been chewing.

“You don’t seem to learn, do you? In a way, I respect that.”

Carl Giacobini shot Alan a surprised look.

“Nothing less from our Alan.” Belknap Long added.
“Thank you for the heartless compliment!”

Alan huffed as he responded, blowing his black bangs—identical to his sister’s—out of his eyes.

“You know that there are some things you shouldn’t say even if you think about them.”
“I see. So should I assume you always want to see them, Irvine? That’s good to know!”
“N-No! You idiot! That’s not what I said!!!”

Irving blushed, his breath becoming rough.

“So you don’t want to see them?”
“……”
“Is this the kind of conversation you should be having during lunchtime?” Willie Hodgson looked at Alan in disgust as he said that.
“Don’t go acting like an adult just because you’re the most senior, Willie. You’re with us on this one, aren’t you?”

“ “…..” ”

“You want to see them, don’t you?”
“ “……” ”

“Susie’s a̲s̲s̲ was quite cute… don’t you think?”
“ “ “……” ” ”

“God… I’m surrounded by a group of criminals.”
“No! Carl, wait! Don’t say things that can be misinterpreted!”

Willie, panicking, slid off his glasses and urged Carl to take back his words.

“There’s nothing to be misinterpreted here. What do you think you’re talking about during lunch? If you’re not criminals, then you’re just a bunch of perverts. That’s the same, no?”

“And who do you think you are, sitting there alone with your moral opinions, pretending to be all holy? Carl! You’re a man, aren’t you?! Aren’t you interested in Susie’s panties?!”

“As I said! This is not the kind of topic you bring up over lunch. It goes against social standards! Don’t you have any common sense, Alan?! Are you no different from an animal?!”

“But! Even if Stephan didn’t try to flip her skirt before summer break—her panties were totally unprotected! Even a gust of wind could’ve revealed them. But now, after summer break, they’re completely ironclad! What’s the deal with that?! What happened?!!!”

“I got to see them four to five times a day!!” Alan yelled.
“Wow, a true stalker,” Carl muttered.
“I guess it just means she learned to carry herself more like a lady during summer vacation. Isn’t that a good thing?”
“I-It was my only salvation! I want the old Susie back!!!”

“I knew it. You’re all just a bunch of perverts.”
“Carl, wait! I know Alan’s a pervert, but don’t lump all of us in with him!”

“Give me back my Susie!!!”
“She isn’t yours!!!”
“That’s right. She’s not yours.”
“They’re right. She’s not yours, Alan.”
“D-Don’t all gang up on me all of a sudden!”

“Besides! Alan, weren’t you saying you wanted to drown yourself in Mia’s breasts just the other day?!”
“Those b̲o̲o̲b̲s̲ are still mine!”
“No, they’re not! Mia doesn’t belong to you either!” Willie snapped, pushing up his small glasses.
“Isn’t he losing it now that his older sister’s gone?” Irvine muttered dismissively.

“I just! I just want to jump into Mia’s b̲o̲o̲b̲s̲ and stick my nose in Susie’s panties!!!”
“Whoa… He’s no good! He’s gone full pervert!”
“We should really do something about him.”
“What I desire is completely normal!” Alan exclaimed dramatically, while Carl declared him a lost cause and Lombard slowly stood up.

The boys’ lunch break dragged on in an awkward, painfully quiet manner.

  • In Front of the School – 1:00 PM

“Please take care of the rest, Will.” Daisy Jameson spoke briefly to William from the carriage.

“Leave it to me. Still, there’s only so much I can do…”
“Hehe, it’s fine. The children will feel reassured just having you here.”
“If that’s the case, then okay. Please be careful, Miss Daisy.”
“Thanks, Will. Well then, I’m off.”

William watched Daisy until her carriage disappeared beyond the school grounds before turning around and heading into the school building.

At the entrance, Corin stood waiting to greet him.

“Did Miss Daisy go to the temple?”
“Yes, she just left.”
“What? What happened to Miss Daisy?”

From behind Corin, Dana chimed in with an easygoing tone.

“Didn’t you hear, Dana? Temple Chief Henry is going out with Su this afternoon, so Miss Daisy will be taking care of the temple in his absence.” Corin adjusted her glasses, her expression filled with mild wonder as she explained things to Dana.

“Really? But why would Miss Daisy look after the temple? What are the priests doing?”
“I was told that some of them are sick, while the others are out helping in nearby villages, and they just ended up short-handed.”
“Hmph. So even the staff can be short-handed.”

“I believe it’s just a case of things piling up. And since I happened to be around, they decided to leave the school in my care.”
“I see. Well, do your best then, Will! Our knight-candidate substitute teacher!” Dana grinned and playfully smacked William on the back.
“Sure thing. Leave it to me, Dana! Now then—let’s go to the training area and have ourselves a nice, long training session!”

“Huh? What? Huh?” Dana yelped in confusion as William grabbed her by the collar.
“Hehe. Do your best, Dana! And make sure to listen to Teacher William!”
“Huh? What’s going on? Huh?”

Corin cheerfully waved them off as Dana, her mind full of question marks, was dragged into the training area by William.

  • Inside the First Station Warehouse – 1:15 PM

“David! Where is the arrow supply? What’s going on?!”
“Y-Yes! They’re supposed to be delivered this afternoon, and I thought they’d already be here, but…”
“It’s already past lunch! Is Gary in charge this month?! I’ll need to have a word with him!”

Howard furrowed his brow as he scanned the inventory sheets in the warehouse.

Several stations had been established at regular intervals around the Amukham Forest. These small forts, equipped with watchtowers and warehouses, served as supply stations for weapons and other necessities used to monitor the interior of the forest.

In Amukham Village, a regular meeting was held four times a year, once every three months, to report on forest conditions, as well as weapon and tool maintenance. The team leader for that quarter and a representative from the village were responsible for overseeing the proceedings.

However, while the meetings started out formally, they would inevitably give way to a banquet meant as a form of consolation. As a result, many people with no real reason to attend still gathered at the first station that day.

An unspoken rule for joining the banquet was to help clean and tidy up the station—both inside and out—before and during the meeting.
