“Master, Master, Master! That’s enough, please stop!”
“Huh? You stay out of this. This isn’t someone worth showing mercy to.”
“No, I will! Besides, there are still things we need to ask her!”
“…Tsk.”

Master finally backed off after I got between them and pleaded desperately.

The assassin’s face had turned pale, her spirit completely broken. She had already released her hold on Stell, who now lay peacefully in my arms, sound asleep.

“Momo, how’s Stell?”
“She’s okay, just sleeping. I’m glad she didn’t have to experience anything worse.”
“Good. If there had been even a single scratch on her, I would’ve torn this assassin apart.”
“Eek! I-I haven’t done anything yet! I swear, I didn’t think this job was serious, so I didn’t even bring proper gear!”
“Oh? Not yet, you say. Perhaps I should just rip out that insolent tongue of yours.”
“Master!!”

Something was different about Master’s anger today. Of course, it made sense that she was furious—Stell had been attacked, and I was just as upset. But today, her anger felt deeper, more intense than usual, like when I was attacked by that ghost, only stronger…

“…That kind of makes me jealous!”
“What are you on about now? Keep it down.”
“I’m sorry! But, Master, you really need to get your arm treated or you’ll seriously hurt yourself. And you did cough up blood earlier.”

“It’s nothing. Not something you need to worry about. Once I’ve dealt with this, I’ll sear the wound shut if I have to,” Master replied, brushing off my concern.
“Oh dear, that’s far too rough for proper treatment,” a gentle voice chimed in, instantly lightening the tense atmosphere.

Suddenly, my breathing eased, and the assassin’s arm wounds began to close as if they’d never existed. There was only one person I knew who could do something like this. Master’s expression twisted as she glared toward the direction of the voice.

“……You always show up at the perfect time, like some kind of mastermind, don’t you?”
“I apologize. I came as quickly as I could,” the voice replied with genuine concern.

“Nggh! We have arrived just in time—or at least this one hopes so. Ready to assist!”

Mr. Koutei declared as he landed behind Master with a jet-assisted landing, with Ms. Roche perched on his shoulder.

“What are you here for? You are not needed here.”
“I thought you might need some help, and I couldn’t just stand by and let more people get hurt.”
“I don’t need your help. You’re in the way. Just go home already.”
“I’m not leaving. I’ll treat you, even if I have to force you to let me.”
“Oh…?”
“Uh, um… uh…”

I was happy that Ms. Roche and Mr. Koutei came to help, but the atmosphere had somehow grown even more intense. As I glanced at the assassin, silently pleading for help, she shook her head furiously.

And Mr. Koutei? He had completely turned away, hiding his face inside his armor. Great, just great. Everyone was avoiding this brewing storm.

“St-stop! Hold it, hold it! This isn’t the time for fighting—Stell comes first! Master, sit! sit!”
“Do I look like a dog to you? …Tsk, fine. Saint, you’ll help with the transport.”
“No.”
“Oh? Are you asking for a fight?”
“Maaasteeer!”
“But she—!”

“Hold on, hold on!” Mr. Koutei cut in, sensing the rising tension. “Lady Roche misspoke. There’s something more urgent to convey. Syntu and Cozmiki have already fled.”

“What? How is that possible? They moved too quickly,” Master snapped, immediately turning serious.

Master had a point. We had just repelled the assassins, and yet it seemed like their employers had already fled. For them to know what was happening and escape so quickly, they would have needed to be prepared long before we initiated our trap. Could they have anticipated Master’s strategy?

“Calm down,” Mr. Koutei urged. “While we do not know the reason, they’ve already made their move. Do you have any idea why?”

“Two we captured at the inn… no, those two didn’t know anything critical… Did something go wrong…? And where did those foolish parents flee to?”

“They’re heading toward the sea. It’s an emergency,” Ms. Roche informed us.

“The sea? Are they planning to use a ship? That would explain the rush, but still…”
“It might be easier to show you than explain. Though it’d be better if we didn’t run into them at all… Either way, I ask that you accompany us. And please bring the assassin along as well.”
“Y-You’ve got to be kidding me… Of all places, why the sea? Is my employer an absolute idiot!”

Mr. Koutei was carrying the assassin, who looked even paler than when Master had intimidated her. If they managed to escape by boat, chasing them down would be difficult, but what was making everyone so urgent about getting to the sea?

Master, just as confused as I was, clearly had a question mark floating over her head. However, she understood from Ms. Roche’s serious demeanor that this was no ordinary situation, and she began to act.

“Momo, it’s going to get a bit rough, but I’ll take you with me. Make sure you hold Stell tightly.”
“Got it! But what could be at the sea…?”
“We won’t know until we get there. We don’t have time to ask questions, but I’ve got a bad feeling about this. Don’t leave my side, no matter what.”
“R-right, understood!”

Master then muttered a short incantation under her breath, and suddenly, my body felt as light as a feather. Wow, it felt like I could jump and soar through the sky forever. So, this was how Master always flew with her magecraft.

“Alright, you’re floating just fine. Now, I’m going to launch us, so keep your mouth shut.”
“Huh? What do you mean by launch—whoa, whoaaaaaaa!!!”

It felt like being strapped into a roller coaster with no safety harness. The wind roared from all directions, tossing my lightened body back and forth. If I hadn’t had this strengthened body since coming to this world, I would’ve passed out ages ago.

Actually, passing out might have been the easier option.

“If you talk, you’ll bite your tongue. And if you feel like puking, warn me first. I don’t want to get splattered.”
“Waaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! Please be gentleeeeeeeer!!!”
“This is what flying with wind magecraft feels like. Get used to it.”

So, this was how Master always flew with her magecraft….
