Well then, what else should I do for today?

Is there still anything I’d like to make? Hmm, what would be good… A map with navigation… illustrations of local monsters… I wonder if I can do all this together.

Let’s go to a bookstore and buy a world map and a monster guide for each region. I’ve been thinking about this for a while.

…The shelves were so tall. While it would be nice to find maps and monster books in the kingdom’s bookstore, the monster dictionary was especially expensive because paper prices were high. I ended up buying six books in total.

All together it cost 325,600 bells—about 3,256,000 yen if converted to Japanese currency.

Although expensive, it was necessary for me, so I bought them.

Now then, the first thing to do is build a certain machine—a device that can take the contents of books and turn them into data. It’ll be fairly large, but I have to start somewhere. Fortunately the books have proper monster illustrations, so I can copy them like a camera and display them later.

All right… I’m also trying to make the device into something smartphone-like. It will display a map, time, and nearby monsters, and it will also show photos of monsters taken in the area.

It became much more elaborate than expected.

I also made the machine load my skills and Item Master. It will record all Item Master creations and their information. Adding this to the smartphone’s functions gave me appraisal, encyclopedic knowledge, calculation abilities, and even pattern building.

Pattern building lets me automatically create recipes by inputting images of items I want to make or am currently making. It also performs accurate calculations based on sight and includes a calendar function.¹　

(By the way, in this world, a year has 16 months, each month has 28 days, and a day has 24 hours with a 7-day week.)

To be honest, just how much is this worth? The appraisal came back as Legend Grade… Earth’s machinery… if I brought it here, would it all be Legend Grade too? Anyway, it exists here now.

Sooner or later, maybe I’ll build something to calculate status and skill combinations.
