The four of us and all members of the judo club had gathered at the same venue as yesterday.

“Today is the individual competition.”

We had come once more to cheer Shuu on. As was mentioned just now, it was the individual fights, so we’d get to finally see Shuu in action!

“Sorry for draggin’ you here two days in a row.”
“It’s fine, we’re friends, aren’t we?”
“Right.”
“Heh-heh-heh.”

For some reason, he laughed, looking extremely happy. On that note, we did prepare a surprise for today.

“That reminds me, did you bring lunch boxes today, everyone?”
“Rir made mine… but since it’s from her, it’s all deep-friend stuff…”
“I think mine is onigiri,” a club member replied.
“Same for me,” another added.

I see, it’s just as Mika predicted. Rir making fried food for Shuu was also within expectations. That means we can treat everyone.

After making eye contact with Mika, I brought out a big food-box from a nearby bag.

“Say, why don’t we all eat together at noon?”
“””Huh…!?”””
“We prepared it, you see. Since Rir only makes friend food.”
“Mika and I made something different. And we’ve got lots of it!”

The club members blinked in surprise.

“Of course, it’s all Mika’s, Sakura’s, Rir’s, and my home cooking!” I continued. “We planned for it and got up early in the morning to make it!”
“Come to think of it, Rir did seem busy in the morning…” Shuu mused, “so that was why.”

The club members gulped.

“U-Uhm, can we really eat the food you got in that box at noon?”
“Of course! You can eat the onigiri you brought as the main dish with side dishes from this! That offer obviously includes Gorilla Sensei.”
“Are you sure? That’s awesome!”

For some reason, a fire seemed to burn deep in the eyes of the club members. This had been another tactic to get their motivation up.
Heh-heh-heh.

“I… I’m so glad I practice judo.”
“Yes, who’d have thought we’d get to eat home cooked food from three world-class beauties and a younger sister… is this a dream? This must be a dream.”

Hm? Why did they mention Sakura separately after “three world-class beauties”? Mika, Rir, and Sakura should be those three, no?

“Kanata didn’t cook anythin’?” Shuu asked as I was pondering. “Normally, he’d be all fired up to do somethin’ like this.”
“He said, ‘food you offer to others should be made by girls, so I won’t be so tactless to join you’ and refrained from cooking anything.”
“But you did join the cookin’, didn’t you?”
“Yes, I’m confident in my skills! Ever since I went to Anazumu.”
“…Are you really fine with that?”
“Huh?”
“…Oh, whatever. Guess you are an idol.”

I didn’t really get what he meant. What exactly was the issue? Was it a mistake to make it since I wasn’t a girl and didn’t fulfill Kanata’s conditions? But Shuu usually ate whatever I made with a huge smile on his face. Hm~?

“Yes, rousing the spirits with lunch boxes is all well and good, but it’s almost time,” Gorilla Sensei interjected.
“Oh, completely forgot,” Shuu replied. “I’ll get ready, then.”
“”Right! Do your best!”” Mika and I told him.
“”You can do it, Shuu,”” Kanata and Sakura agreed.
“Please do your best, Shuu!” Rir exclaimed.
“I will.”

Seeing they were in front of others, Rir exercised some self-restraint as she hugged him. After separating immediately, Shuu showed a smile as he disappeared behind the stage. Rir also showed a small smile as she sat down next to Mika.

“Woof, we’ll be able to see Shuu at his best. This is what we came for.”
“You’re not wrong. But we should also cheer the other team members on, right?”
“Obviously! But I’ll still cheer for him with all my heart.”

Shuu really was loved… That was why he and Rir always got glares when they hugged at school. People were obviously jealous.

“In any case, it feels a bit sudden that Shuu is in the very first fight.”
“Right, there’s a reason for that.”

Gorilla Sensei had joined our conversation.

“What do you mean?”
“It’s because he was unmatched at the regional competition. If this tournament had them, he’d undoubtedly been seeded. Well, it’s a remnant of that. They’re trying to shame him.”
“I-I see.”

That meant he really showed a peerless performance. He was someone who could wipe out a dangerous gang by himself, so if he went all out, he could probably dominate the whole tournament by himself.

“There he is. Eh-heh-heh, he looks so cool.”

As his name, high school, and academic year was announced, Shuu entered the ring. Followed by his opponent.
Well, in the end, Shuu was quite handsome. Looking at him here, he seemed very different.

“…It’s starting.”

The referee arrived at their side. The competitors clasped their hands close to their obis and bowed.

“Begin!”

Author’s note:
I made another research related mistake: The individual competition in intra scholastic judo tournaments does not consist of a knockout tournament but uses a point system (likely related to the number of wins). To my chagrin, I ended up carried away with the competitive aspect of the story.

As for past examples like glasses which allow blind people to see well enough for their daily lives, those are far removed from reality. You might consider Earth in my setting an alternate reality, even before the first reincarnation in another world happens (though it might be our Earth’s future).

My deepest apologies. From now on, I shall disregard such things rooted in reality.
