“Oh, you’re here, Alim, Mika!”

Yes, we had come to him when he called us. And yes, he had, once again, interrupted our intimate time. It was already the fourth occurrence, so we were naturally getting used to it.

“So, what new information did you learn?”
“Hrm, as We mentioned during our message exchange, We learned the name of the last Guide. Before We come to that, We want to speak about the Guide who destroyed the evil god.”
“Hm~.”

I didn’t know whether this was a necessary prerequisite, or if it was a tactic to heighten our expectations by delaying the information, but the conversation clearly wouldn’t proceed without it, so I yielded.

“The one who destroyed the evil god was said to be a young man who’d been found in a forest, suffering from amnesia. Moreover, the clothing he wore was unknown in Anazumu.”
“I… I see.”
“Indeed. And while he was young, he was strangely skilled with the sword. After he was taken in, he was said to have grown stronger at an astounding pace.”

Huh~. From how it sounds, this boy who defeated Bufura’s evil god was from Earth like us.

Being found in the woods was similar to what happened to me. As for his sword skills… maybe he’d been talented from the start, just like Shuu with martial arts. Even assuming his memory loss was genuine, it was possible he kept his sword skills1.

Those who knew the same method I demonstrated during the dungeon training could grow strong extremely fast. And even without dungeons, you could grow strong quickly by hunting magic beasts in the wild at a faster pace than the people of this world.

“Then the king of that time took notice of the young man and made him the Guide. At that point, he was already SS-Rank… on the cusp of SSS-Rank even.”
“Really…?”
“Still, he was no match for you, Alim, who climbed the highest peaks of SSS-Rank as a minor.”

For a moment, I thought that this boy was incredible, but on second thought I realized that my own case was a lot more abnormal. Still, at the time, people likely saw it that way.

“Thus, said Guide and his partner, a sword he’d found in a dungeon, used mainly sword skills and the magic he could command through the vajra to defeat the evil god. He then sealed it in the vajra.”

Well, nothing up to this point was that unusual. I was able to defeat Samaeyl before I maxed out my stats.

“Still, it was only sealed and hardly destroyed at this point, right?” King Rama continued. “So, listen to this: the Guide wasn’t from this world, but from another one!”

Oh, I see. Well, I already assumed that. There’s a surprising number of people from Earth2 who’ve come to Anazumu… come to think of it, Sages are also summoned here.

“You know about the Sages, I assume? They are brought here from another world, but the boy who became a Guide apparently wasn’t one and had strayed into this world instead. And his original world was said to be one without magic. In that case, why not take the evil god with him there? Keeping the vajra with the sealed evil, the Guide succeeded in finding a way to return to his world.”
“D-Don’t tell me that was how he destroyed it?”
“Exactly, there should be no way for an evil god to exist in a world without the concept of magic and concentrations of magic power. Thus, it is assumed to be destroyed.”

So, he’s saying…
…that evil god is currently on Earth? He took it with him to another world, so it’s consider “destroyed” in Anazumu…?

Huh… hang on. Please don’t do that, it’s like dumping your trash in someone else’s home.

“Hrm, is something wrong, Alim, Mika? You do look adorably grumpy right now.”
“No, it’s nothing…”
“Uhm, will this other world be alright?”
“There’s no magic there, right? Why wouldn’t it be fine?”

True, it occasionally felt like this world was missing something, though maybe it was difference in thinking. Still, hearing its real history kept surprising me.

“So, to the main topic. Giving you prior information about the Guide who defeated the evil god was necessary… As for why, the man Our great grandfather designated as the Guide… had also come from another world.”

Honestly… just how many people were sent to Anazumu…? Well, Mika and I came here after we died and our souls were saved, which was a net positive.
Still, what about all the others? Where they brought here as a joke like Mr. Mitsuo…? Not like anything about that was funny.

“As We mentioned before, that Guide was a strange one. He made people laugh by performing various tricks without magic. He likely did it to earn money and it drew the attention of Our great grandfather. By talking to the man, he learned that he was from another world, so he made him the Guide.”
“In that case, is the reason your ancestor made him the Guide that he believed him somehow historically important?”
“Yes, you understand. Indeed, the diary mentions that he had high expectations for him.”

Like he was the progeny of the Guide before him? They probably didn’t expect that another transmigrator would show up.

“So, what happened to this man afterwards?” Mika asked.

I was curious about that, too.

“It says that since he was so driven to return to his home, he left to search for a means to go back. While Our great grandfather had already made him the Guide, he still felt sorry for the man, so he gave him the advice to either ask the king of Yggdrasil, the country of the holy tree, or go to the Mephilad Kingdom where a means to return was said to exist. Due to the poor relationship of Our country with Yggdrasil, he recommended Mehilad.”
“And then…?”
“The Guide apparently went to Mehilad. Afterwards, his trail was lost.”

A man from another world who came to the Mephilad Kingdom in search of a way home… hang on? I’m getting a bad feeling… a really bad feeling. And he was an entertainer, which sounds very much like a certain someone out there…

“U-Uhm, just to make sure, could you tell us this Guide’s name, Your Majesty?”
“Of course, he was apparently called Mitsuo Lovelong3. A rather strange name.”

Mika and I looked at each other.
How should I put it… it’s just as I feared.

Footnotes:

  1. That might be the boy from the story in chapter 261, who was the cause of the Jizou statue being built.
  2. I don’t get why he assumes everyone’s from Earth. There could be countless worlds out there.
  3. The name is written in Katakana here. It is both possible that Mephistophales’ last name, which has the literal meaning of “love long” and which I’ve localized as “Aichou” so far, is meant to be pronounced as the English “Lovelong” or this might just be his performer name. At this point, I won’t change it unless there is a future instance that necessitates it.
