The enjoyable Sunday had passed, and we were back in Anazumu to start our next two weeks there. For now, we had gathered in the usual place to hear the news Shuu had.

“How did it go?” I asked.
“You mean the individual matches?”

As he’d already told me, they had won their group matches with so much leeway that not even their middle ever had to fight, so their participation in the prefectural competition was pretty much guaranteed. It was incredible. What I was asking for were the results of the individual fights that happened on Sunday.

“Well, I easily made it to the prefectural tournament. And the vice-captain, too,” Shuu replied.
“To put it bluntly, all the club members who participated made it to the next stage,” Rir added1.
“I mean, it was kinda obvious…”

Their instructor’s coaching must’ve been intense to get this result. Though it might also be due to each member’s own strength. Although the club didn’t meet that often per week, they churned out many powerful fighters, which indicated how skilled the members were.

On that note, their instructor, Gorilla Sensei, taught pretty much all the judo classes at the high school. The guy was a great PE teacher to begin with, even with that ape-like face of his.

“Woof~, in any case, he did incredibly well! Shuu ended almost all his fights in an instant!”
“I wasn’t that great…”
“Huh, but didn’t Gorilla Sensei say that it ‘felt like every fight ended with a single grab and throw’? You became this strong because you trained a lot!”

Rir’s tail wagged, and her ears stood up in apparent excitement, as she spoke of her boyfriend’s heroics.

“In that case, let’s all eat dragon steak in the dining hall today. I’ll also make a cake,” I proposed.
“Ain’t that too much trouble?”
“Not at all, but you’ll have to do your best at the prefectural tournament, alright? This time, we’ll come to cheer you on.”
“Thanks, man.” Shuu scratched his head with equal parts happiness and embarrassment.

Only, the last time the four of us had come to cheer him on, they’d been treating him as if he’d brought his harem. Not that they were completely off with that.

“Oh, and thanks for the grapes. Goin’ outta your way durin’ the date to get those for us.”
“It’s fine.”

As he smiled, Rir hugged his arm.

“You worked super hard, Shuu.”
“I guess.”
“So, I’ll have something special for you later… Eh-heh-heh.”
“Uh… s-sure?”

They were speaking in small voices, so it was likely meant to be only between the two of them, but I was close enough to overhear it. I could guess that this something special would consist of adult pleasures. Mika and I did the same, yesterday… Heh-heh-heh.

“Oh, before you leave, there’s something I have to tell you all,” Kanata cut in, looking apologetically.

Sakura was holding his arm with an anxious look.

“Did something happen?” I asked him.
“This is something Shuu and Bro already know. Rir, too, I assume. Mika-nee should be the only one who doesn’t… Uhm, it’s about our stalker.”
“A stalker? Someone is stalking you?”
“Well, I’ll come to that during my explanation.”

Kanata’s expression turned serious.
Looks like he has some rather grave news.

“-and that’s what happened yesterday.”

It was shocking. I mean, I wasn’t with them when it happened, but to think that someone else with knowledge about Anazumu had shown up.
What in the world is going on?

“That’s also why I can’t say if he’s friend or foe… For now, we should stay careful. All of us.”
“Agreed. But I didn’t think he’d just make contact with you, Kanata,” Shuu replied.
“Hmph, so I’m the only one who didn’t know about this? You’re all so mean!”
“I-I’m sorry, Mika-nee.”

Nevertheless… the man had known Kanata’s name from the start. This was getting more and more mysterious. That said, I doubted anyone of us wanted to get dragged in such a troublesome matter, so we’d just take a wait-and-see approach.

“Well, as long as this guy doesn’t do anything, we shouldn’t need to worry, right?” I mused.
“True, I’d rather spend my time livin’ normally than getting’ involved in somethin’ weird.”
“…I also think so,” Kanata agreed.

The verdict was unanimous. The most important part was to stay away from trouble.

“Let’s disperse, then! I’ll call you for dinner.”
“Right!”

I brought the conversation to a close when I felt that the atmosphere was right. Everyone made their way back to their respective love nests, while acting all lovey-dovey with their partners.

“Will we go back, too?”
“Yep, let’s.”

Now, time to forget all this negativity and make out with Mika. That’s what’s most important, after all!

“Also, from now on, tell me about it if something happens, will you? I don’t like being left out!”
“Ah, sure. Sorry for that.”
“Well, you apologized, so I’ll forgive you.”
“Thanks.”

This was our back and forth on the way back to our room. I felt bad for not telling her, so next time, I’d make sure to inform her.

  1. Even though her typical verbal tic is missing, I assume that’s her speaking, since she’s the only other person who should have that information.
