After the aerial acrobatics came three people who looked like gymnasts and performed chair-climbing tricks. They piled the chairs up higher and higher, always keeping their balance.

Once that was over, Long-Heart made another appearance. He’d apparently show up every two acts to entertain the audience. In the end, he was the poster clown of the circus.

«Next, guiding the elephants will be-»

It sounded like the next part would involve elephants. When it came to circuses, it was all about the animals. Rare animals like white tigers would apparently also make their appearance. Would we get to see them jump through rings of fire?

Putting that aside, it was now the turn of the elephants. There were three of them led by their trainer.

“Woah… Elephants! It’s real elephants!”
“Oh, right. This is the first time you see those in person, right, Sakura? Should we go to the zoo on our next date?”
“Yeah, let’s do that.”

Sakura was happily leaning against Kanata’s shoulder. You didn’t see her do that often. Well, they probably acted intimately when there were no others around.
Are they happy together? Alright, I should bring it up, too.

“Mika, should we also go to the zoo on our next date? On a day when we won’t run into Kanata and Sakura.”
“Alright, let’s do that!”

Great, I managed to settle that while we’re here.

In any case, the elephant show was also incredible.

I mean, if it’s normal stuff… what ordinary people can do, then I can pull that off in Anazumu any time, but animal handling is outside of my expertise. I can’t help being genuinely impressed.

One of the elephants painted a simple picture on a canvas, another climbed onto a box that looked physically too small to do that, and the last used his own trunk like a hula hoop. Then, they suddenly combined their powers and formed a pyramid (one made so it wouldn’t put needless strain on their bodies) and caught balls. Hopefully, all that wasn’t too hard on their trunks.

On that note, there was apparently a corner where you could meet the animals after the circus performances were over. Still, one of Rir’s wolflike traits – her keen sense of smell – was present even on Earth, and while it wasn’t as bad as with dogs who could no longer control themselves, it seemed to be hard on her. As a consequence, she and Shuu would wait outside. It was a pity.

«Those were the elephants Flower, Blossom, and Yoshio!»

The elephant show was over. The names Flower and Blossom were obvious, but I had no idea where Yoshio was from.

The next part would apparently consist of motorcycles driving around inside an iron sphere.

“Woof, next will be the highlight! Trapeze swinging in mid-air!”

After the motorcycles came juggling (with throwing knives), followed by magic tricks, and finally, as Rir had said, trapeze swinging, the highlight of the show. There were three things you thought of when it came to circuses: Animals, clowns, and flying trapeze.

“That somethin’ you could do, Rir?”
“Woof, you keep asking me this question today, Shuu… Since back then, I’m a bit afraid of heights, so no, I couldn’t.”
“Makes sense.”

He patted her head with a somewhat satisfied look. He acted awfully cheerful today. Maybe he simply enjoyed his time here.

«On the trapeze are —, —, and —! Oh dear, what is Long-Heart doing up there?»

Mr. Mitsuo was among the troupe members who’d perform the trapeze trick. Was that alright, could he do that? The woman’s question made it sound like the whole thing was intentional. Or rather, that it was one of his appearances.

Can Mr. Mitsuo do anything related to the circus? Though that’s probably why he acts both as troupe leader and clown.
Hm~, in Anazumu it seemed like his movements weren’t that sharp. I wonder if that was since he’d been there for hundreds of years.

The trapeze performance started. Two men with muscular arms and a graceful woman flew up and down through the air. They were clearly skilled.
There was something like a trampoline underneath, so it wasn’t that nerve-wracking, but it was fun in a lively way.

«Oh, is Long-Heart giving it a try!?»

It looked like Mr. Mitsuo was finally taking on the challenge. He dangled in the air, holding on to the hand of a man who was hanging from the trapeze with his feet, then he moved to the feet of another person. He did well for some time, but then…

«Oh no~~, he fell!»

When he was at the point where he had to switch to the woman, the third member of the trapeze team, his hand slipped (likely on purpose) and fell towards the floor.

I could hear shouts of dismay and shock from the audience, but… he acrobatically turned his body in mid-air and landed on the trampoline. If you asked me, it was quite captivating.

“W-Woof, how scary! I got chills all over!”
“Still, that was all planned, y’know?”
“Woof~! That’s incredible.”

It looked like it was the right choice to go to the Love Long Circus for our triple date.
