“The second performance will now start~!” the voice of an older girl resounded.

We could enter the tent at last.

“Finally.”
“I was more shocked about this circus’ leader being connected to Anazumu than the long wait time. Waiting in line didn’t bother me that much.”
“That’s true.”

In any case, while the five of them did have their complaints, we entered the tent for now and looked for the best unreserved seats.

“Here looks good.”
“Those seem to be the best. I had no idea there were such great seats in the unreserved section.”

We quickly sat down so others wouldn’t snatch them up. There was a division between the unreserved and reserved section and the former seats were generally further behind, but the ones we found were almost right in front of the stage.

It was getting close to winter and cold outside, but the tent was warm thanks to an elaborate air conditioning system. Exactly the right temperature to spend two hours here. We took off our jackets and such and placed them in baskets that were installed under the seats.

“…I guess I’ll buy some ice cream later.”
“Sakura, didn’t you eat candy bars earlier? And now you want ice cream? Besides, isn’t it a bit too cold for that?” Mika chided her.
“Grr, it’ll be fine. I want to eat some!”

On the way, we had passed salespeople who’d apparently walk around and sell stuff like ice cream. That was part of the service.

“Huh? Is that guy comin’ our way?”
“Eh?”

As Shuu had said, it seemed like a troupe member was rushing towards us from the stage. Or rather, he was looking at me, doing his utmost to smile. It was him… the foreigner who’d showed me to Mr. Mitsuo’s office.

Shortly later, he came to a stop in the corridor between seats right next to ours. My friends were a given, but even other people around us stared at him, wondering what was going on. I was the only one who knew the reason.

“Uhm… is there an issue?”
“The six of you are here as a group?”
“Y-Yes, we are, but…”

As usual, it was Kanata, the most mature among us, who replied. After looking at me, the man’s smile widened even further.

“The boss told me about it. Could you show me the card?”
“Huh, the card…? Who are you…” Kanata stammered.
“Ah, yes… Here you go,” I interrupted my brother and held out one of the cards I’d been given.

The man looked at it and nodded. The other five seemed even more confused. I wanted to surprise them, so I had kept mum about the VIP seats. Heh-heh-heh.

“Right, that’s genuine! In that case, I shall show the six of you to your seats.”
“Y-You’ll show us to our seats?”
“Yep, he means he’ll guide us to the VIP seats. This card I got earlier as thanks has all kind of perks.”
“The hell? Why not tell us earlier!?”
“Ah-ha-ha, I wanted to surprise you.”

It wasn’t every day you got the chance to nab the best unreserved seats, so the others… well, mostly Kanata, were reluctant to get up and part with them. There were some complaints, too. Sorry~.

The troupe member entered the section for reserved seats. We obviously followed him and when he came to a stop, we did the same.

“It’s here.”
“Woof! What great seats!”

They were probably the best ones in the whole reserved section. I had no idea how they were available, but it was patent how good they were. To begin with, they had a different color from the other seats.

“These are the VIP seats. The boss told me that you saved his life yesterday! That’s awesome, thank you so much! Ever since the circus was established, these seats were meant for people offering substantial loans… or so I heard!”
“Seats meant for people who loaned the circus a ton of money… that should be fine, no?”

Urged on by the troupe member, we sat down. I didn’t know if Kanata was completely happy with it, but his mood seemed to have improved. These chairs appeared to be the only cushioned ones, which made the difference even more obvious.

“A troupe member will bring you refreshments, do you have any wishes? You may choose anything from the menu. Ever so often, someone will come here in case there is anything you need. At those times, please order anything you want from the menu, like popcorn or ice cream. That’s the service we offer.”
“Wow, really!?”

Sakura, with her sweet tooth, beamed after being given the menu and hearing what the man just said. She was probably planning to order the popcorn with caramel filling.

In any case, the story was apparently that I saved Mr. Mitsuo’s life. On Earth, that is. Well, it wasn’t that far off the truth, so I didn’t mind.

“I never thought this could happen.”
“Ah-ha-ha, but isn’t this great?”
“Well, I guess.”

It looked like there were some things Mika wanted to say, but for now she seemed to agree.

In any case, Sakura immediately ordered an extra-large melon soda and a large serving of caramel popcorn. Mika hurriedly turned her way when she noticed and forced her to reduce both orders by one size. Kanata watched the scene with a grin.

It looked like Shuu and Rir chose something with beef jerky.
