This side story is completely unrelated to the main story.

It was midnight on December 25th. Christmas Eve. A figure with red hair, wearing red clothes and a red hat, was sitting in a sled.

“Come on, let’s do our best today too, Start Quest, Dragonar Story!”

That was how the boy called-

“I’m a girl!”

That was how the girl called the two reindeer she kept. They had been named after her favorite video games.

“Hrm… everything is ready! Then, let’s be off!”

The sled drawn by the special reindeer raced up into the snowy night sky. The world illuminated below made the eyes of the girl, who was wearing attire resembling Christmas cosplay, shine.

“Oh, we’re here!”

The girl jumped down onto a family’s house while holding a white bag, making her look like a burglar¹. She produced an item from her pocket.

“Ta-ta-ta-ta-tah~! The device that knows whether children are good or bad~! An excellent helper, letting Santa know the names, ages, criminal record, record of good deeds, and desired gifts of the children living in this house!”

It was unclear to whom she was talking, but she gave that explanation as she held the device aloft.

“Let’s see… The kid in this house is called Shuu. What’s that? His criminal record… is blank. As for his age… hrm… wha-!? He did all this at his age!? Wow, this guy is amazing!? He’s a hero! Just who is he? Such a good child deserves the best present.”

The girl who confidently called herself Santa… never touched her white bag, instead she created a black shape in mid-air and transformed it into something. She then tossed her creation into the chimney of Shuu’s house.

“Alright, onwards to the next!”

The self-proclaimed Santa girl boarded her sled, which had stopped in mid-air, and raced off again. The next place she visited was a large castle.

“This place… let’s see… there are five children. Three are female and two are male… They’re all either children of royalty or nobles. Alright, it looks like all are good children! So, Santa shall give you presents!”

She created five presents, using the same method as earlier. The castle had no suitable chimney, so she tossed them through a window.

“On to the next~!”

The sled sped off once more. The next place she reached consisted of two neighboring houses.

“The children here… are a pair of beautiful sisters and two brothers… huh? Are those boys? Seriously? Is this thing malfunctioning?”

The girl seemed perplexed. But she quickly made up her mind.

“Oh, well. Let’s see. For the sisters… The younger sister is a quiet girl, that’s normal enough. Hrm, but it looks like she acts like a tsundere in front of the younger brother from the neighboring house. I see, she’s a good child. As for what she wants… a ton of sweets… huh. Won’t she put on weight if she eats that much? Huh, looks like she won’t.”

The Santa girl tossed an assortment of sweets through an opening in the roof.

“Alright. Then, for the older sister… Oh, she’s all lovey-dovey with the older brother (?) of the neighboring house. Looks like she’s also a bit of a yandere. Hm~… so she’s super pretty, but she sometimes causes trouble for others… Well, whatever. Let’s give her a normal present.”

Same as before, she tossed a present.

“Onwards.”

The Santa girl jumped over to the neighboring house and started investigating the brothers.

“As for this boy… he’s amazingly smart. But he’s way overprotective. Also, he hates it when people say that he looks like a girl. Wouldn’t it be more fun for him to dress up like a girl? Let’s see… as for what he wants… a “Black Magic Research Set”…? Huh, so he’s a chuunibyou…”

She tossed another present.

“Then, the older brother. He looks like a girl. Like me. But I can freely change between being a boy or a girl. Let’s see, this boy… he likes to cross-dress and gets way too absorbed in video games. Just like me. He even likes the same games I do! …Well, it is me, isn’t it?”

The Santa girl, whose true nature had been on display for a moment, inclined her head as she threw a copy of “Dragonar Story 4”.

“Well, that should do it. Do I really have to check them one by one? Let’s make this quick!”

In mid-air, Santa created lots of presents and threw them at each house in a continuous stream at considerable speed.

“Now, my work here is done! I should go home. You look tired, Start Quest, Dragonar Story!”

The Santa girl patted her reindeer’s heads. Then, she boarded the sled and sped off at high speeds towards the house where her beloved wife was waiting.

1. The original is 忍者 (Ninja). The description of someone on the roof with a big sack made it sound more like a burglar, so I used that instead.
