“Mr. Kruzel!” Kanata yelled and turned to the knight, who had been blown away.
I wasn’t sure if Sakura was trying to cast healing magic when she saw that, but her face immediately changed to regret.
Right, sages can’t use magic. In that case…
[Rir, please cast healing magic on that guy.][Understood.]
Rir was able to use magic.
It sure is a good thing I had her learn it when we had the option.
Moreover, even though her stats paled compared to ours, her spellpower was higher than it would be for someone at level 255 who never used Reincarnation and invested all his STP into that stat.
“Well, I expected you to heal him.” The Black God crossed his arms, as if to merely say “I knew it”, and looked down on us.
Meanwhile, Sakura pulled her sword.
Don’t tell me she’s the next to charge the Black God?
If she did, I expected Kanata to stop her… but he didn’t look like he would.
“Oh, will you come at me now, Sage Sakura? Even though you can’t use magic? How admirable… gah!!”
The Black God screamed, as his… or rather, the king’s arm was lopped off without any resistance. Sakura’s sword had moved on its own.
Or rather, the thing’s flyin’ around by itself…! What the hell is this? Is it also a legend grade magic sword? Right, guess they found it in their dungeon.
“I’m sorry, Miss Kyrian! We’ll stick Mr. Loukis’ arm back on later!”
“Huh…? Ah, right!?”
Sakura had cut it off1. The girl who wouldn’t even kill a fly before coming here, was now able to slash at a human, if the situation required it.
Environment changes people, don’t it…?
Taking her actions as his signal, Kanata started to move, too. Holding a black spear with a green sheen, he rushed forward like a gale and, even though he shouldn’t be able to use teleportation, was behind the evil god in an instant.
“Wha-?”
“…Surtr, you might want to take a look at your legs.”
Just as Kanata had told him, Surtr looked down. The was a hole going through both his legs. From what I could see, it looked quite painful.
“When did you… you shouldn’t be able to use magic…”
With his legs damaged, the Black God collapsed. It looked like he could no longer stand. Though in his place, I wouldn’t have been able to keep upright either, obviously.
Still, he didn’t seem to be in any pain. Or maybe it was better to assume that he didn’t share his body’s sense of pain.
“…Shall we end this, Black God?”
Saying this show-off-line, Kanata brough out something. I couldn’t see what it was.
“Kah-!! Come here… we’ll fight to the-…!
Before he knew it, the king’s body, possessed by the evil god, had been pierced by a mithril spear and stuck to the throne behind him.
“Rir! Ice Magic!”
“Woof! Now!”
Likely since she had discussed it with Kanata in advance, Rir shot off Ice Magic right after he yelled that.
“Gah-ha-ha… I see… not bad, Gah-ha… ha… ha…”
Surtr, who had previously looked calm, was frozen completely together with the king’s body. After a while, he turned into what looked like a lump of ice, making any movement impossible.
“…For now, this should be enough to make him powerless… I guess?” Kanata mused.
This was less shocking than I thought it would be. Well, it probably ain’t the end of the Black God, but I guess it’s a good thing we managed to disable him, ain’t it? Though in the end, neither Kyrian nor I did anythin’…
“Kanata, what do we do now? Without the spear, there’s no sealin’ this guy, right?” I asked him.
“Indeed. The spear has been destroyed, so…”
Kanata held up the broken Gungnir, which he’d likely retrieved at some point. The sword was also back at Sakura’s side.
“Miss Kyrian,” Kanata called out to the knight.
“K-Kanata, it’s just as Sage Shuu said,” she replied. “What are we going to do now?”
“For the time being, we’ll need to seal the Black God to separate him from Mr. Loukis. We have our work cut out for us, so first please inform the people working in the castle about what happened.”
Oh, I already asked those officials from earlier to inform them, so no need to tell them now.
“We’re fine on that. I asked those people who escaped to tell everyone the Black God has shown up.”
“Oh, my mistake…. In that case, Miss Kyrian… could you bring Kruzel to the med bay?”
“U-Understood!”
Kyrian grabbed Kruzel with one hand, hoisted him on her back, and took him out of the throne room.
I closed in on Rir.
“Rir, you did well,” I told her while patting her head.
“Awoo, woof, woof.”
She narrowed her eyes in joy.
TL notes:
Wait, it’s already over? I mean, I wrote so myself at the end of the last chapter, but that still seemed a bit too easy. What happened to all that regicide and fighting the Black God in another place business that was supposed to happen?
