“You go on ahead outside, Rir. Imma go clear the room below.”
“Alright, see you.”

Just as I had asked her to, Rir left the dungeon. I broke the floor and descended into the hidden room. It was the same strange room, unchanged from how it’d been yesterday. It was also the best place to test my strength.

This time… My spellpower has gone up, so I’m thinkin’ of tryin’ one of those S-Rank skills I’ve just got my hands on. I’ll also keep sayin’ “Gimme magic cores” as I use it, y’know! Maybe this’ll raise the chance of gettin’ ’em?

I stood in front of the orange orb and invoked “Magnificent Performance of the Fiery Emperor1“. A rather fancy magic circle appeared, and flames started gathering at its center. Then, that blaze was released all at once.
So, it’s that kinda magic… Well, looks normal enough, but the power seems very high.

My magic hit the measurement device, annihilating the orange orb.

[Mission cleared. A treasure chest of «achievement level – ultra-legendary» will appear.]

…Huh? Did it just say… ultra-legendary?
The hell is this, doesn’t it stop at legendary?

While musing about that conundrum, I checked the treasure chest’s contents. This time, there was no key box inside… Instead, I found five SS-Rank magic cores.

With all these… I can synthesize skills again, and even Rir might manage to create an SS-Rank skill…

Huh, so there’s somethin’ above legendary… Guess this happened ’cause I improved my spellpower and skills. From now on, I gotta always aim for this reward.

I left the dungeon and broke the news to Rir.

“Woof~!? I see… Still, you got lots of SS-Rank magic cores!”
“Yep. With these, we can make tons of skills, right?”

Though even saying that, we put off the skill synthesis for later and resumed going through the dungeon with the current goal of using Reincarnation another two times.

“Alright… Let’s allocate STP and SKP!”
“Woof, woof.”

It was lunchtime.

Just as planned, we had finished another 19 rounds. The rewards from the treasure chest during those 19 rounds were all as splendid as expected. For clarification, I managed to reach ultra-legendary on every single clear.

-8x Set of 5 SS-Rank magic cores
-2x Stack of orichalcum
-3x Set of 3 magic cards with legend grade enchantments
-3x Set of 4 skill cards with either S-Rank or 4-star skills
-3x Parts of SS-Rank magic beasts

That was about it.

It felt like, since I kept thinking that I wanted magic cores, they showed up in the treasure chest more often2.

Also, I obtained another 176’000 STP and SKP, while Rir got 35’380. Moreover, the letters next to the level display and the Apex title changed.

“Woof~… These numbers are incredible… I guess?”

It looked like Rir had already gotten tired from the constant surprises. At least she didn’t seem to be that hyped up… Though it was the same for me.

As for the STP allocation, I put 50’000 each into A, W, and S, then 5000 into D, 6000 into MP, 5000 into HP… and finally 10’000 into C. From now on, I was thinking of putting any STP I got into A, W, S, and occasionally C.

Rir invested 15’000 points each into A and S, 2400 into MP, and 3000 into C.

Also, I prioritized giving the skill cards with S-Rank skills to Rir, while we split up the 4-star skills fifty-fifty, except for the redundant ones3.

The biggest find among them was “Production King”. We had obtained two of these skills, which would make you a prodigy at crafting things. We also got one copy each of “Appraisal King” and “Harvest King”, so I gave those to Rir.

I took the skills “Magic Beast Expert”, which contained convenient knowledge about monsters, and “Ultimate Diving”, a skill that let you breathe underwater, negated water pressure and other factors, and let you swim freely any way you wanted while in water.

One of the S-Rank skills was called “Breath of the Fire Dragon”, so I took that one, too.

The others, which were named “Advance of the Shadow Monarch”, “Dragonrage Slash”, “Nature of the Benevolent Dark Deity”, “Vigor of the Extreme Thunderflame”, and “Heavenly Ice Pterodactyl Summoning Magic”, went to Rir4.

We only allocated one third of their max SKP to those, since we planned to use them as synthesis materials. With her SKP, Rir should be able to create two SS-Rank skills, and I… I wasn’t sure yet how many I’d make5.

And that’s why it’s now time to allocate some SKP for real.

To begin with, Rir and I synthesized all the stat-raising skills (she added Sharper Mind to her roster before doing that), which resulted in a 4-star skill called “Maximum Ability Enhancement”.

Then… I combined the four Secret Sword Technique skills, which got me Secret Sword God Technique.

Furthermore, I synthesized all my S-Rank skills except for the sword summoning one, which created the SS-Rank (sub-rank 19) skill “Infernal Scalpel6 – Ultimate Fire God Magic”.

The Spell contained not only the fire attribute, but darkness and light as well, and it was immensely powerful. Furthermore, you could even adjust its power, and it fundamentally ignored the target’s fire resistance.

On top of that, from the moment I obtained that skill7, I became able to designate people as “friendlies”, so I wouldn’t deal any damage to them (the more people I designated, the harder this became).

At any rate, it looked like a very strong skill.

On the other hand, I also told Rir to allocate SKP into every single skill, except for the S-Rank ones that’d be used for synthesis, and max them out.

Great, now we only have to keep makin’ SS-Rank skills and do as many rounds through the dungeon as possible.

TL notes:
Ironically, the ultra-legendary rewards sound a lot more useful than the divine ones Alim got (while Amritas are complete cheat items, they don’t actually help getting stronger). Makes me wonder if there also was an ultra-legendary level in Alim’s dungeon and he just never hit that window.

Footnotes:

  1. The original is 炎帝の豪快連双 (this one was learned last chapter, but I didn’t explain the name since “disposable synthesis fodder”). The last part 連双 (“lead pair”) doesn’t seem to be a proper word. Going by the pronunciation, this might also be 連想 (“association”), 斂葬 (“burial”), or 連奏 (“performance by two or more musicians playing similar instruments”). The last option seems to be the most probable, but the second might also be possible.
  2. 19 times won’t be nearly enough to make it statistically useable. Try doing 4000 runs like Alim did and then you’ll get some proper data for probabilities.
  3. The original is 被ってるモノを覗いて (“peer at the redundant/covered thing”). 覗いて is likely a typo and supposed to be 除いて (“to exclude”).
  4. More skills with weird names which will never be used.
  5. Yeah, SKP will not be the limiting factor of making SS-Rank skills.
  6. The original is インフェルメス (inferumesu). This might be a combination of インフェルノ (“inferno”) and メス (“scalpel”). It might also be meant as a “cooler” sounding version of inferno, who knows.
  7. The way this is worded makes it sound like this applies to all his skills and not just this S-Rank skill. How it works might be answered in future chapters.
