“…so, apparently, we have to get this box-like thing into the goal over there,” Kanata mused while looking at a strangely glowing spot at the end of what should rather be called a corridor than a room.
“Looks like it… But we need to be quick! Time is running out!”
“I guess that’s true.”

Since the start of the mission, around 20 seconds had passed. Kanata then used teleportation to move the object in front of them directly into the goal.

Together with that message, the object, which had been moved to the goal, vanished into beads of light and from within it, a treasure chest emerged.

“…I should’ve known that would happen.”
“Muah-ha-ha!”

Kanata teleported to the treasure chest and opened it. Inside, he found a box.

“What’s this…?”
“Hm~, no idea… Looks like you can’t open it.”
“Then why not later ask someone who has probably cleared a dungeon before… like Mr. Thor?”
“You’re right…”

Kanata stored away the treasure chest’s contents and then grabbed Sakura’s shoulder.

“Then for now, let’s go outside.”
“Alright!”

Thanks to teleportation, the kids were able to leave the dungeon instantaneously.

“There we go.”
“Hah… That skill of yours is amazing, Kanata… Though it’s also incredible that you can use it so well.”
“Heh-heh… Thank you.”

Kanata took out the box they had just obtained. When he tried his luck again, it opened without any resistance.

“So that’s how it is… It’s the type of box you can only open outside.”
“What’s in it?”
“Let me see…”

The box contained 10 S-Rank magic cores.

“S-Rank magic cores. Quite the treasure.”
“Wow! But why go through all the trouble to put them in this small box?”
“If I had to guess… maybe this box itself can be used for something in the dungeon… Considering you cannot open it inside… it likely loses that function once you take it outside¹.”

Kanata stored away the magic cores and the mysterious box in his magic bag.

Sakura brought out a clock to check how long Kanata’s dungeon clear would take. Once he saw that she was ready, Kanata dove into the dungeon via teleportation.

“Good grief… he’s such a game junky…” Sakura muttered, while taking out a mat from her magic bag and spreading it out on the ground.

Then she opened a book, though she didn’t read it.

“(Kanata… oh… he’s so handsome! I-I’m not sure? Are my… charm attacks working on him? He did say that I seemed different than usual, but… it’s so embarrassing~! S-Still, Miss Kyrian told me that just by pressing against his body and acting in an alluring way, I should be able to make him happy, so…! I wonder, is this enough? Will it be fine? Isn’t that my reward? Is this a proper reward for Kanata, too? I’m… I’m worried! I’d like to ask him directly, but I can’t do that…! To begin with…)”

Kanata had returned. He had teleported right next to Sakura, who’d still believed him to be inside the dungeon. In his hands, he held another box and a piece of paper.

“Y-Yeah. Oh, the time… You took exactly two and a half minutes²,” Sakura changed the topic, in order to avoid further inquiry.
“Gotcha… It felt like only a minute to me…”

“Isn’t two and a half minutes way too fast already?”
“Well… I guess. Oh, that’s right, this is the treasure I got this time. It’s a skill card.”
“Uhm… Skill cards were these things that let you learn skills, right? What does it teach you?”
“I haven’t checked yet. I’ll give it a look.”

Kanata pressed the card to his forehead to get information about the contained skill.

“What does it say?”
“It’s a 4-star skill called Great Clairvoyance… It lets you see through things.”
“See… see through things!? A-Absolutely not, Kanata, you mustn’t learn that skill…”
“Huh… Why not?”
“I’m sure you’ll use it to peep on me… while I’m in the bath. In the first place, it probably let’s you see through clothes…”

The possibility of him peeping on her… was only part of her reasoning. Her main drive for preventing Kanata from acquiring the skill, was to stop him from being captivated by other girls. Though she herself didn’t realize that.

“I wouldn’t do something like that…”
“I know. I get that, even though you’re a chuunibyou, you would do that… But it still makes me a bit uncomfortable…”
“Hm~… understood. Will you learn it, then³?”
“I would appreciate it.”

Sakura took the card from him and held it against her forehead. When she received a mental question, whether she wished to learn the skill, she replied in the affirmative. Thus, Sakura obtained the Great Clairvoyance skill without incident.

“Good… Then let’s return to the inn for now and take care of our stat screens! Since we haven’t done that in a while.”
“Mh, let’s.”

Sakura stood up, tidied up her surroundings, and then firmly clung to Kanata. While he was concerned by that, he didn’t delve into the matter and instead teleported them home.

TL notes:
Unlike Shuu and Rir who were surprisingly frank in chapter 287, these two aren’t this open with each other yet. Though it’s mainly Kanata who is visibly uncomfortable with Sakura being so physical, it doesn’t seem to be that much fun for her either. It remains to be seen whether this helps or harms their relationship in the long run.

1. I wonder if I’d make the same deduction with the information he has. It could be time based, or finding the condition to open the box might be part of the challenge.
2. After her being in shock for an indetermined amount of time, this sure is to be an accurate measurement.
3. I’m sure she won’t do exactly the things she just accused him of.
