“…Rir, could you hear that just now?”
“Indeed, we’re supposed to hit that orb with an attack with high power, right?”
“Yup, that’s what it said.”
“In that case, it’s your turn to shine Master. Please strike it with your best shot,” she told me, while already taking some distance.

But even with that, it’s still too dangerous.

“Could you go a bit further away? Yep, up till your back is against the wall.”
“I’ll be fine, you see, please don’t worry about me and launch your magic, Master. With how powerful you are, we might even get a legend grade item…”

I’m still a bit worried.
But… you know what? All I need to do is hit it with an attack at full power, don’t I? As long as I make sure to properly control the power and size of a Matchless spell, it probably won’t affect her… Time’s a wastin’.

I closed in on the large, orange orb to put some more distance between Rir and me. Then, I cast a spellpower buff on myself with the Enhancement Magic I had just learned.
It’s possible that this room won’t reset, even if we leave and reenter the dungeon, so… gotta bring out my full power.

I shot off a Matchless Fire. I had cast it at full power while keeping its size low. The red blaze quickly flew towards the orb and struck it. It resulted in my target being utterly destroyed.

Strong wind pressure rushed through my surroundings.
Come to think of it, that’s the first time I’ve ever launched a Matchless spell, ain’t it? To think it’d be this powerful.

Flung away by the wind pressure, I flew towards the wall where Rir was waiting.

“Ow!”
“A-Are you alright, Master? What incredible power… so this is your full strength…”

While I luckily didn’t hit her, I smashed into the wall.
That hurts, y’know.

I immediately cast the recently acquired Restoration Magic on me and picked myself up. By the time the aftershocks had subsided, another message appeared in our minds.

[Mission cleared. A treasure chest of «achievement level – legendary» will appear.]

“Woof~!? It said ‘legendary’, Master! I knew you could do it!” Rir exclaimed excitedly, her hair still tousled from the shockwave.

Ever since entering the dungeon, she’s constantly shocked by one thing or another, ain’t she? Though she’s always been so composed before. Though I guess this was pretty amazin’, just now.

An awfully extravagant treasure dropped to the floor, directly below where the orb had been floating.

“Rir, you wanna open that thing together?”
“Huh!? But this was your achievement, Master, so…”
“It’s all good, let’s go open it.”
“Uhm… a-alright!”

Rir and I walked over to the treasure chest and lifted its lid together.

Inside was a box. A box within a box. It was as big as the palm of my hand, and there were what looked like small pictures of a falcon and an explosion effect drawn onto it.

“Woof? What is this?”
“No clue… I’ll try appraisin’ it.”

I used my newly acquired Appraisal Master on it.

“Key box of Ýdalir Valley’s dungeon [Grief]”
-Status → Normal
-Quality → ???
-Value → ???
-Materials: ???
-Type → Key

Description:
By holding up this key in front of the gate of the lord’s room in Ýdalir Valley’s dungeon [Grief], you become able to fight the true lord. This box contains items, but it cannot be opened inside the dungeon. If taken outside the dungeon, this key loses the privilege to let you fight the true lord, but you are able to obtain its contents. In that case, the key can be reacquired to enable the fight.

The hell…? We got our hands on something insane, here… Are the ??? parts because my appraisal skill isn’t strong enough?
This thing… in short… it’s an item from a hidden room that let’s us access some hidden route… that about it?

I relayed the results of my appraisal to Rir.

“The… t-t-true lord?”
“Yep, looks like it.”
“You plan to fight something like that, Master!?”

I see… she got a point.
The dungeon boss should be pretty strong, y’know. And that’ll be a monster that’s on an even higher level… ain’t it?

“Nah… I won’t fight it yet. Let’s go through the dungeon a few more times.”
“Eh? But this might be your only chance…?”
“It says that you can obtain it again, so this room should also reset. In other words, we can do this challenge as often as we want.”
“Woof!? Y-You’re right! Then let’s quickly leave the dungeon. I’ll take care of our luggage.”
“Gotcha, let’s get outta here.”

Rir and I exited the dungeon, where the rain had since stopped. By reentering, we would be able to get more exp, magic cores, and key boxes.

“Master, could you try opening the box?”
“Sure thing.”

In accordance with Rir’s request, I immediately opened the key box. Inside was a single magic core.
This is all we get from somethin’ that said “legend grade”…? Wait, this might be some high rank magic core.

With these thoughts, I used appraisal and…

“Rir… this thing… it’s an SS-Rank magic core…”
“Wha-?”

An SS-Rank magic core. Equal to 10 S-Rank, 100 A-Rank, or 1000 B-Rank magic cores. That “legend grade” label wasn’t just for show.

TL notes:
That challenge mission went about as expected, though it’s nice to see that for once Shuu’s excessive caution was warranted. Also, most of the messages/descriptions are pretty much copy-pasted from chapter 102 and 103 with just the dungeon name and mission objective changed (plus an added line clarifying that you can open the box outside the dungeon).

I guess this removes the last bottleneck on their road to ultimate power with a (likely) endless supply of SS-Rank magic cores.
