“Great, we’ve arrived.”

Kanata and Sakura alighted from the ground. They then let go of each other’s arms.

“This is the mountain where we’ll train today. Make sure not to stray from me, alright?”
“I won’t, you’re the one who looks after me when we’re walking, anyway,” she said, as she hugged his arm.

Kanata’s face flushed for an instant, though he immediately regained his calm.

“Then, let’s use Detection.”

The kids both activated their skills. As a result, they found that swarms of C- and B-Rank magic beasts were living in their surroundings.

“Wow…”
“There’s so many… Please stay vigilant while I’m throwing my spear, Sakura.”
“Yeah… What support magic should I use?”
“For now, can you just use defense on yourself, and as many layers as possible of dexterity, attack, and quickness on me?”
“Understood. It looks like the doable number of casts has gone up quite a bit, probably since I maxed out the skill, so give me a moment,” Sakura told him, and then cast the support magic he had requested.

He felt like, compared to yesterday, the number of buffs she could layer onto him was on a completely different level.

“Hah, this is incredible…”
“Heh-heh-heh-heh!”
“Then, I’ll quickly… Soi~!”

After putting on his eyepatch, Kanata threw the spear at the closest magic beast. The unfortunate target lost its life in an instant, and he then used teleportation to move it next to him.

“Alright, one down!”
“From how it feels, even B-Rank monsters might die in a single attack.”
“I’ll give it a try.”

This time, he threw his spear at a B-Rank magic beast. The foe instantly expired, and Kanata recalled the corpse plus his spear.

“Muah-ha-ha-ha! With these hands of mine, this shall be child’s play!”
“Just don’t go overboard, will you? You’ll end up getting injured.”
“I’m sure it’ll be fine… Even supposing we’ll find ourselves in some dangerous situation, we can always escape,” Kanata stated offhandedly.

He acted just as he always did, which concerned Sakura. However, there was no need for her to worry. Though Kanata spouted these lines, he was inwardly very calm and paid close attention, so he could escape with Sakura at any time, should the worst-case scenario occur.

Before they knew it, all the magic beasts visible within the range of Great Detection had been exterminated.

“Oh, we’re done.”
“Then let’s quickly move to the next spot.
“Alright.”

Kanata teleported them to the other side of the mountain. Here, there were also droves of magic beasts inhabiting the area, but Kanata ended up rooting them out in the span of a dozen or so minutes.

“There were more B-Rank magic beasts in the current spot than the one we were at earlier, weren’t there? Perhaps well even find an A-Rank monster?”
“We shouldn’t rush this. Let’s go with ‘safety first’. In case you get injured, I can heal you.”
“If that happens, I’ll rely on you.”

This time, the two kids teleported to the vicinity of the mountain’s summit. In the place they arrived, they were immediately attacked by two magic beasts, but Katana easily defeated them by making full use of his spear skills.

“Then, let’s use Detection and…”
“Wha-!? K-Kanata, t-they’re here!” Sakura, who’d been the first to activate Detection, told Kanata in surprise, while trying to keep her voice down.
“What’s here?”
“A-Rank magic beasts… three of them…”
“Are you serious?”

Kanata also started using Detection. And for sure, it picked up three A-Rank foes. Moreover, one of them seemed to be right next to them, just a few trees away.

“What the… I though A-Rank magic beasts were supposed to be fairly rare?”
“Well… it doesn’t change the fact that they are here… W-What should we do, Kanata?”
“Either way, no choice but to fight them. Sakura, please stand over there and watch our surroundings. I’ll go and try to fight that thing,” Kanata told her and then closed in on the A-Rank magic beast.

Sakura decided to wait while keeping an eye on him with Detection, but he immediately returned, making a face as if he’d just experienced the biggest disappointment of his life.

“…I’m back.”
“Did you kill it? You’re not hurt, are you? Should I heal you?”
“No, I’m fine. I took it down without taking any damage myself.”
“Right… looks like you did. Oh… then, will you also go and kill the other two?”
“Yep, just wait for a moment.”

Kanata teleported to where the other A-Rank monsters were. Not even a minute later, he returned to Sakura’s side.

“I’m done! Let’s kill all the other magic beasts around here that Detection picks up, and then go home.”
“R-Right, let’s go home.”

Currently, Sakura was in the apartment by herself. Kanata had gone to dismantle the corpses of the 25 C-Rank, 20 B-Rank, and three A-Rank magic beasts they had obtained this time, and then sell their materials.

She was lying face-down on the bed.

“(Hah… Kanata… he’s strong and cool and gentle… and he’s also clever… Come to think of it, what in the world is this ‘Gift of Charm’ title I got…? I’m not a charming person, am I? Suddenly, Kanata returned to the room in high spirits. His voice sounded the happiest it had ever been since coming to this world. While pulling her face from the pillow, Sakura turned to where the voice had come from.

“Huh, Sakura, your face is all red…”
“Ah… right. I took a short nap… and I got all hot… that’s why. So, what made you so happy?”
“Ah, yes! Listen to this, I managed to save up 1.2 million bells!”

TL notes:
Another round of farming monsters in easy mode with Kanata and Sakura. Honestly, their titles and bonus skills give them way too much of an advantage so nothing barring the sudden appearance of a random SS-Rank monster without a way to escape (as it happened to Shuu) seems to pose any threat to them.

Also, the author commented, that a fourteen-year-old kid who goes and earns 12 million yen (around 85’000 dollars) on his own for his blind friend, while also taking care of her, would likely become instantly famous in the modern world. Looking at it this way, Kanata does display remarkable maturity and planning ability for his age.
