“Ga-ha-ha… You got them, didn’t you? Don’t forget to collect the magic cores, too,” Thor exclaimed when he saw that the two kids had finished defeating the cottonlings.
“Hah… I’m surprised we were able to bring them down without any issues,” Kanata mused. “Well, they are F-Rank…”
“Hm~… I think this was the first time I killed an animal other than insects and mice…”
“Still, if we don’t kill them, we won’t get stronger, so there’s no other way, Sakura.”

After that, the three of them used Detection to locate a group of slimes, and this time Thor didn’t do anything, entrusting everything to the two kids, which resulted in them defeating all 12 slimes that had gathered there without any issues.

Thor glared at one of the goblins, and, out of nowhere, lightning struck said foe. When it skillfully hit only that one goblin, it caused the monster to disappear without a trace within an instant. The other goblins were unable to understand what had happened and lost consciousness due to the shock.
“Ga-ha-ha, ga-ha-ha-ha-ha! Did you see that? Oh, right, the little miss can’t see. What do you think about my thunder magic, Nakata? Well, this was only about 1% of my full strength!”
It became clear from the current magic power overflowing from Thor, that his statement about 1% of his power hadn’t been a lie.
“In… incredible, so this was a magic attack…?” Kanata exclaimed, while smiling joyfully.
“I-It made a terrific boom, just like real lightning… uh…”
“Come to think of it, you’re not good with lightning, aren’t you, Sakura?”
Merely from her tone of voice, Sakura seemed to be calm, but she gripped Kanata’s arm more strongly than she ever had since coming to this world.
“Ga-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! Did you already learn magic, Nakata, Sakura?”
“No, none so far. For the time being, we decided to save up our SKP.”
“Well, that’s probably a good idea. Right, the both of you should try to defeat those stunned goblins. They give ten times as much exp as a cottonling, you know!”
The two kids did as they had been told, went towards the goblins and readied their weapons.
Kanata stabbed his spear at the throat of one goblin without any hesitation, killing it. Sakura hesitated for a bit, but then shook her head two times, apparently breaking through her doubts, and managed to stab her sword through the cranium1 of the other goblin.
“Very good! Let’s search for more goblins. Once you level up, you’ll be able to defeat even stronger magic beasts. Repeat that often enough, and you’ll get as powerful as Grandpa Heimdall and me! Ga-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!”
Afterwards, the three of them hunted down every last goblin, slime, and cottonling they found. All for the sake of having the two kids level up. Kanata was in an especially good mood, swinging his spear joyfully, continuously bringing down magic beasts. As he did that, the time for the practical training came to an end.
“That’s it for today.”

When she heard that, Sakura swore to herself to remind Kanata before they went to bed tonight, not to get too caught up in his fantasies.
After a break of several minutes, the two kids, now in different equipment than during weapon training2, went to a rather wide room inside the castle together with the other SSS-Ranker, Heimdall.
“Then, let’s learn some magic. I am Heimdall, an SSS-Ranker of this country. You two were…”
“I’m Kanata.”
“I am Sakura.”
“I see, I see, Kanata and Sakura. Nice to meet you,” Heimdall said while holding out his hand to the two kids. They both shook it, Sakura with assistance from Kanata. “Hrm~, well, your magic power is still at a low level.”
“Yes, that’s because during the practical training with Mr. Thor earlier, we leveled up for the first time.”
“I see, I see, it can’t be helped, in that case. Then I shall teach you about magic and magic power. Is that fine with you?”
“”Yes, Sir!””

Same as Kruzel and Kyrian during weapon training, Thor seems to be a good guy. Sure, it’s a job he was hired for, but he appears to take it seriously and offers his wisdom (even though Kanata already has a mindset typical for SSS-Rankers, so he would be fine without it).
