Natalia flapped her black wings to dodge the attacks, accelerating as her opponent matched her speed.
“I’m actually impressed you managed to implement flight to this level. Good job,” the voice taunted, its tone condescending, like speaking to a child.
The patronizing words only fueled Natalia’s irritation.
“Shut up!”
Celaeno’s wings flapped even faster as Natalia pulled the triggers again. But the result was the same—every shot was deflected by the barrier.
If she could either tear the barrier or overwhelm its deflection rate, she might deal some damage. That was Natalia’s plan as she continued shooting while flying in a wide arc.
She timed her shots from both guns during the openings between the lightning strikes and projectiles, but the barrier remained unbroken. Her flying speed wasn’t enough to react to the attacks effectively.
“Your flight, reaction time, and maneuverability are impressive,” the voice observed. “But all you’re doing is flying in predictable circles. There.”
An explosion suddenly erupted in front of Natalia, created by a mid-level fire spell, Air Buster, cast without chanting.
Natalia pushed Celaeno’s mana output to its limit, braking sharply to evade the blast. But reversing direction had been predictable. A second explosion erupted behind her, and the shockwave and heat threw her off balance entirely.
“Your wind barrier is focused too much on the front, leaving you vulnerable from all other directions.”
Then, multiple flashes lit up around her.
“Damn it—”
She had no way to escape. Her entire body was engulfed by a series of explosions, each overlapping the last with deafening roars. But as the smoke and flames surrounded her, they were suddenly ripped apart by a blue light.
“I’m not done yet!!”
Natalia burst free, using Black Hawk’s incendiary rounds to counter the explosions. Her clothes were scorched and tattered, but she had sustained no significant injuries.
Raising her right hand, she fired a barrage of bullets from White Viper. Simultaneously, her left arm detached, allowing her to fire Black Hawk from a separate angle.
“Your limb separation isn’t wide enough to make a difference in the air,” her opponent remarked. “You really need to understand that aerial combat isn’t the same as fighting on the ground.”
They were right. At this altitude, even with her limbs extended to their limits, the angles weren’t enough to create a meaningful crossfire against a fast, flying opponent.
Instead, Natalia adjusted her strategy. She moved her detached left arm in an erratic pattern while continuing to fire.
This tactic still didn’t break the barrier, but now she was using Black Hawk’s incendiary rounds—bullets imbued with far more mana than standard ones, exploding on contact.
The repeated explosions eventually obscured her opponent in smoke, halting their attacks. However, the dense smoke made it difficult to gauge the damage she had dealt.
At this altitude, there was plenty of wind to disperse the smoke. Once it cleared, it became evident that her opponent stood unscathed within the intact barrier.
But that smoke screen had served its purpose. While her opponent had been occupied, Natalia had flown higher, reeling back her left arm and changing her weapon loadout.
Her right hand now gripped Blue Hound, her left held White Viper, and her waist-mounted sub-arm carried Black Hawk. She pulled all three triggers simultaneously.
Multiple bullets converged, striking the same point on the barrier.
“Using three magic guns at once now, I see,” the voice remarked.
Her opponent resumed their attack, launching a barrage of magic projectiles, Thunderstorm, and Air Buster.
Natalia deftly navigated through the gaps between the attacks, her wings shifting unpredictably. Her flight path became erratic and less predictable, a deliberate improvement.
The only constant was the relentless fire from her three guns.
“I commend their power, but my barrier is still—”
Before the sentence could finish, the barrier began to crack.
“So you focused all your attacks on a single point to create stress, just like you did with Aria,” the voice continued. “Back then, you only used Black Hawk. Now you’re using three guns, including one fired from a nimble sub-arm. Impressive.”
As her opponent spoke in a calm tone, the barrier shattered like glass. Natalia saw her opportunity and prepared to strike. But—
“Sadly for you, you’ve taken too long.”
Before Natalia could attack, four magic circles materialized around her, glowing ominously.
“Hell’s Eruption, Lightning of Wrath, Titano Quake, Ares Typhoon.”
The opponent conjured four high-level spells simultaneously with minimal chanting. There was no escape.
Hellfire erupted from below, endless bolts of lightning rained down from above, the ground shook violently, and powerful gales tore through the air, threatening to rip everything apart.
As the spells raged, they began to merge, forming a glowing orb of intense light high in the sky. Eventually, the congealed mana burst, unleashing unparalleled destruction.
For a brief moment, there was silence. Then came the deafening roar of the explosion, spreading outward with a massive shockwave. If such power had been unleashed on the ground, it would have permanently scarred the landscape.
At the same time, the opponent fortified their barrier, making it even more impenetrable to withstand the force of the destruction.
From within the black smoke, a figure shot downward—Natalia.
Her body was riddled with cracks from the immense pressure of the four merged spells, glowing blue mana leaking from the fractures and leaving a radiant trail as she plummeted toward the ground.
