Grana then explained that with a few exceptions aside, monsters were animals and plants that had been taken over by Dark Cores.

“If that’s true then, reptoids might turn into lizards, minotaurs into cows, and cockatrice into chickens.”

Schenna began associating the appearance of monsters to animals she knew, though she still felt hesitant to use them as meat.
They might be able to be turned into good tasting meat, but no one knew if it might have any adverse effects when eaten.
The food they made was going to be served to customers, so they had to make sure it was completely suitable for human consumption.

“Then why don’t you try cooking something with that pig or whatever you call it and see what happens?”
“…Are you serious?”
“If you get poisoned or affected in any way, I can use my healing magic to deal with it instantly. And if it can be eaten, then next time we go gather Dark Cores, we could bring back some monsters that look good to be eaten.”

Grana was suggesting they try eating the pig that used to be an orc.
Schenna thought of how her ancestors had figured out different ways to eat unknown stuff and how she had to respect their efforts.
Especially things like Fugu that were highly poisonous, but after many efforts studying it, it had become a delicacy and even a staple of Japanese food in her past life.

“Kishana, what do you think? You’re the one doing most of the cooking, so I want to know your opinion.”
“I think it’d be a fun experiment. And even if it has poison, it might still have some kind of medical uses. I’ll try to make something with that pork.”
“…Alright. I’ll take responsibility for anything that might happen as a result of the test though.”

It was decided then, so Kishana took the pig that used to be an orc and butchered it so that it was fit to be cooked.
The pig was soon separated into pork ribs, legs, fillet, and loin.

She first sprinkled salt and pepper on both sides of the loin before covering it with flour, then bathed it in mixed eggs. After that, she put oil on a pan and fried the loin on it until it took a slight brown color, and with that, she finished a pork loin piccata.
All she had to do was to serve it on a plate and sprinkle it with a sauce, then she brought the plates to the table Schenna was sitting at.

“I’ve tried making something easy for now. So far it looks like a regular piccata…”
“And it smells really good too, there don’t seem to be any problems at first sight.”

Schenna made eye contact with Grana to ask for his help in the extreme case something were to happen, then she took a bite from the food.
She closed her eyes as she carefully tasted it before thoroughly chewing it and swallowing it.
Watching her, Kishana got a bucket ready and Grana prepared himself to chant a healing spell.

“…It’s just like regular pork. I can’t believe this used to be an orc.”
“Do you feel any pain? I don’t want to see you suffering because of the meat that came from an orc.”
“I don’t really feel anything, I’m okay. There should be no problem in using this as an ingredient.”

If Sareenea had been there seeing how anxious Kishana was for Schenna’s state, she might have gotten inspiration for another doujinshi story. Grana decided to check her with magic just in case, but he did not find any symptoms of poisoning or otherwise.
Next Schenna tried eating the pork ribs and fillet, but that also caused no problems in her body.
