“Crim!”
“…Ah, Frey.”

Frey gasped, noticing that Crim’s eyes seemed vacant and unfocused when she turned around.

“Sorry, I’m going to the third floor now. I need to get to the fourth floor below it. If I don’t hurry—”
“Hey, wait! Something doesn’t feel right with you.”
“Yeah Crim, you should try to rest a bit. You look really tired too.”

Frey and Freya stopped her. Hinagiku and Lycoris were also with Kasumi a distance away, looking at them worried. But it was almost like Crim could not register their presence.

“No, I can’t wait. Rouge is with Belial or whatever her name is, and who knows what—”
“Crim!”

There was a dry clapping noise and Crim felt something on her cheek. It took her a moment to realize that Frey had slapped her face. It had not been strong enough to hurt, but it was enough to knock some sense into her, stopping her from running off on her own.

After a deep breath, Crim finally looked at Frey properly.

“Sorry you had to do that, Frey. But I’m okay, I’m better now.”
“Then that’s good. Now… the Belial you’re talking about said that she’ll be waiting on the fourth floor, right?”
“Yeah… Hmm, I guess we’ll have to find how to get down there in the first place.”

So far, players had only made their way down to the third floor, and had hardly explored half of it. No matter how much of a hurry Crim was in, she still needed to figure out how to reach the fourth floor before she could go.

First of all, they needed to know exactly what was happening, so Crim told everyone the events that had transpired before they arrived, and everyone’s face turned more serious by the end.

“…I’m really sorry I couldn’t get here earlier.”
“That’s alright. We barely got back, so I’m grateful you’re even here right now.”

Frey tried to apologize, but Crim just smiled and thanked him.

“Still, we don’t really have enough people to search. Maybe we should contact the guilds we know…”

The first ones that came to mind were Nord Glacier and Lan Canglong. Crim had talked about Da’at Criferd, or Belial now, with Nord Glacier, so she expected that Sorleon would agree to help almost immediately.

Lan Canglong was a bit harder to trust, as Shao would only act if it benefitted him. But that also meant that if there was a big reward, he would certainly help. That was something she knew for sure.

Either way, it was likely he would flat out refuse, so she needed to be ready for that possibility.

“Umm, Ditzy Lord?”

One of the players who had picked up one of the Doppelganger cores timidly raised his hand. He was the one who had picked up Hinagiku’s Doppelganger.

“I know I’m just making an assumption, but do you need more people?”
“Ah, ye-yes, mhm, I do…”

She had also thought of asking the surviving players around there for help, but it seemed like he had an even better idea.

“Then this is the best time to use the forums. You can get hundreds, even thousands of players to band together and help you with a simple request.”

Hearing that, Crim and Frey looked at each other in silence…

“ “I forgot about that!!” ”

Then they shouted at the same time.

It did not take long to decide their next plan. Some of the players around there had been recording the entire time, so they uploaded what happened to video sites. With Crim’s popularity, the number of views rose in an instant.

The distaste for Belial’s actions quickly became obvious. Others showed their compassion for that girl who stayed brave to the end, even as she was kidnapped. Many were also spurred into action seeing how determined Crim was to rescue her.

Considering the number of views and positive comments, things would likely work out. Only one step remained. After taking a deep breath, Crim pressed the SEND button on the forums.

There was an almost instant wave of responses. Everyone agreed to help Crim, and every time she refreshed the page she saw piles of comments trying to help. More and more players voiced their support, guilds agreed to help, and they all provided all the information they had regarding the way to the next floor.

“Two-thirds of the whole third floor have been explored!”
“Nord Glacier is starting to fight an enemy that might be the main boss!”
“Lan Canglong’s Shao solved one of the puzzles and activated a device!”

Hinagiku and Lycoris quickly read out the updates coming in. They were also holding hands with their Doppelgangers, who had regained enough strength to manifest a younger version of them.

Holding hands that way allowed them to share their mana, which would eventually allow them to recover completely.

Having gained sentience, the two Doppelgangers were determined to rescue the third one. Suzaku was also there to help them, as Da’at Criferd somehow was able to track the position of Belial.

United by that slightly twisted slogan, the players began collaborating to rush through the third floor as fast as possible, opening the way for Crim. Seeing that made Crim’s chest pound with excitement.

“…I’m so happy for you, Crim.”
“Everyone wants to see Rouge safe too.”
“Yeah…you’re right…”

I’ll do it, no matter what. I’ll be right there. So just wait a bit more for me…Rouge.

Crim looked up and whispered to that girl, even if she was not there.

Four hours passed after Crim posted that message in the forums. All of the bosses of the third floor were defeated during that time, and all the switches were pulled, finally opening the way to the fourth floor…
