Once the awards ceremony stream ended, everyone was free to go home.

“So…could someone explain to me why we’re still here?”
“I don’t know, they told us to stay a bit longer for something special, but what could it be?”
“Well now, isn’t it fun at least? Being called to receive something special from management.”

Crim, Sorleon, and Shao were there. The three had been brought to what looked like an ancient castle, and into a room with a long table in it.

“And Crim, you’re still in that cute body then?”
“Shut up. I’ve yet to find the time to replenish my reserves of blood.”

Sorleon chuckled as he brought that up, which prompted Crim to protest while waving her arms, making the loose sleeves wave in the air.

It looked so comedic that the other two could not help but grin seeing her, which only put Crim in an even worse mood. But then someone new entered the room so they could not continue messing around.

“I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.”

Turning to the side of the voice, they saw two imperial guards from the former empire, covered in plate armor that glinted red and silver, and full face helms with a cross cutout, which resembled the popular [T] emoji.

Behind them was the one who had spoken, a lady wearing the uniform worn by the civil officials of the empire.

That empire had already fallen in Destiny Unchain Online, so the fact that they were related to it meant they were Game Masters, the two guards were regular GMs, while the lady behind them was the organizer of the event.

Crim knew of their existence, but this was her first time being close to one of them.

Usually anyone playing within the rules would never encounter GMs, so the fact they were in the presence of three of them made everyone feel nervous.

“Don’t worry, we’re not here because you’ve broken any rules or anything like that.” The lady told them with a reassuring smile and everyone sighed with relief. “Anyway, this is what we’re here for…”

The three GMs went to the table and placed sealed letters on it.

“What are they?”
“The three of you got the highest positions in the ranked tournament we organized, so we’ve chosen to grant each of you a unique title. That’s why we brought you here, to guide you through the decision.”
“Guide us..?”

Crim felt it strange that they would go through so much trouble. Something like a title could easily be announced through a system notification, like it usually happened.

“This time it’s a bit more special, as each of you must decide whether you want to carry these titles or not.”
“…Hm?”
“These contain the titles selected for each of you, as well as some indications.”

Each of them picked up a letter, which vanished in their hands as a new window opened in their HUD.

“Huh… Scarlet Demon Lord?”
“Mine says Black Demon Lord.”
“And mine Blue Demon Lord…”

Each of them read out loud the titles they were given. The condition to obtain them was to be the Guild Master of a high ranking guild, while also belonging to a demon species.

The letter also mentioned that possessing such a title could greatly boost the viewership of their live streams, or bring more attention to them in events.

“Hmm…wouldn’t this set us slightly apart from regular players though?” Shao was the first one to read through everything, and posed the obvious question.

“Yes…and that’s why we’re giving you the option to take them or leave them.”

“But we’re just common people, we aren’t actors. How can you know that we’ll really act the way you intend?” After Shao, Sorleon was the one asking something, and in response the GM lady nodded in agreement.

“We’re aware of that, and I don’t believe we’re asking you to act in any way that would be too difficult.”
“Meaning..?”
“Well, just think of the three of you in a room having a quirky or strange conversation.”
“Ahh…so we’ll end up looking like the Me and the boys meme…”1

When Crim commented that, the GM lady broke into a chuckle, it seemed like she would be alright with something like that.

“Also…this is just a hypothetical, but would you be interested in an exhibition match with the three of you against a large number of players?”

“Umm…thou must be joking, yes?” Crim grimaced awkwardly and turned around to see what the other two thought.

“…That sounds fun.” Sorleon was obsessed with being the strongest, and his eyes were beaming with excitement at that possibility.

And on the other side…

“Does that mean…we’ll be able to use whatever we want?” Shao also had a mean trickster side to him, so he grinned maliciously as he asked that.

Those reactions made Crim shudder.

Oh no, they’re actually serious about it!!

Both of them had no intention of losing, no matter how numerous their opponents were, and they were willing to do anything for that. On top of that, just those two alone were the perfect pairing of strength and brains, making them a dangerous team.

By now Crim was certain, agreeing to that would inflict a long-lasting trauma on a large number of players.

“Oh no…I’ll have to do something…”

Those two demon lords had lost their brakes, or rather, they were willingly pushing the pedal to the metal. Only Crim had some self-restraint left, and she believed it was her duty to somehow try to control the other two.

“Also… May I ask one more thing?”
“Yes, what is it Crim?”
“Lua Cheia is still a small guild when compared to Nord Glacier or Lan Canglong…we only have a small town and a forest to our name, and a handful of guild members, am I really fit to be here?”

Nord Glacier had claimed a large area that contained a big city. On the other end, Lan Canglong had claimed multiple areas to the east, and they were allied to the Tokai Corporation, giving them a strong economic presence.

Compared to them, Lua Cheia seemed like a really small guild.

But somehow at the start of the tournament when all guilds were being evaluated, Lua Cheia had scored way more Value Points than any other guild, even the top ones.

Those Points were also required to further develop one’s territory, and seeing how many they got left Crim speechless. Lua Cheia was likely the most wealthy guild when it came to that.

“About that…you’re currently in possession of the Foggy Lakeside Town of Nebel region, so I don’t believe you’re any inferior to the other two guilds?”
“…Hm? What…”
“There’s a rather conspicuous building in Nebel, right? Have you thought of maybe making the necessary preparations, gathering plenty of trustworthy friends, and giving it a visit?”

The GM lady spoke with a very conspicuous tone, which made Crim cringe and almost groan in discomfort. But she had said something that should make Crim rejoice. There was something that required a lot of people. And…it was in her own region…

“Wait… wouldn’t that be a raid dungeon…”
“Oh, I wonder about that?”

Crim muttered in surprise, and the GM lady replied with a teasing voice. The GM lady kept glancing from Crim to Sorleon, and then Shao, having a very meaningful smile.

So she’s trying to suggest we form an alliance.

At the same time, that implied that they required their combined strength to get through the dungeon, a realization that made Crim gulp loudly.

“Is it really okay for you to tell us those things though..? It won’t be unfair for other players or something…”
“It’s alright, I’m the Event GM after all.”

Ahh, I guess dropping hints here and there is also part of her job.

This game had an incredibly vast world, so without hints there would likely be a lot of dungeons that would never be discovered.

“Wait, could there be GMs hidden amongst NPCs too then…”
“…Tee hee.”

This time there was no response, just an ambiguous giggle. Crim started to feel some existential dread from that, so she decided it was best to not pursue the matter.

“Well then…does this mean the three of you accept the titles?” The GM lady reminded them of that.

“Yes, I’ll take it.” Sorleon gave a ready nod while smiling.
“Me too, I’ll gladly accept the title. It sounds fun too.” Shao also nodded, a suspicious grin on his face.

If the two of them were left unchecked, they would likely go wild with their titles and cause mayhem, so they needed someone to reign them in…

“Alright, I shall take it as well…” Lastly, Crim gave a dejected nod as she also accepted…

«Player Sorleon has gained the title Black Demon Lord.»
«Player Shao has gained the title Blue Demon Lord.»
«Player Crim has gained the title Scarlet Demon Lord.»
