Some time passed after Lua Cheia joined Sorleon’s Nord Glacier, and soon the morning sun began to shine in the world of Destiny Unchain Online.

*”And just like I promised, here you are, at the foot of the World Tree!”*

Fia proudly announced that…while Crim and the rest threw disconcerted stares at her.

“How come..? Dost thou realize there isn’t even a single regular tree here?”

No matter where they looked, Fia had brought them to just a regular grassland with no trees in sight.

*”Heh heh heh, just follow me and you’ll see.”*

Saying that, Fia moved forward through the grasslands.
The rest were not fully convinced, but they followed…and in an instant their surroundings transformed from a bright grassland into a thick forest.

“Are we…”
“Huh? No way, I swear this forest wasn’t here when I looked in this direction before!!”

It did not take long before Setsuna, who prided herself in being a scout, felt her skills would be questioned for not spotting the forest before. So she desperately tried to explain herself to Crim, who gently patted her head.

Crim had also thought this had been a mirage of sorts at first, but then understood that it was probably more akin to a parallel dimension, only accessible through a very specific method. It was not Setsuna’s fault that she had missed it.

“Don’t worry, Setsuna. I haven’t lost any faith in thine abilities, so rest easy.”
“Masteerrr..!”

She almost broke into tears as she hugged Crim, who just let it happen before surveying their surroundings, frowning a bit.

“It might look like a beautiful forest…”
“But it also looks like it could get really dangerous.”

Freya ended up completing Crim’s sentence.
At first glance it looked like a lush forest, with green leaves and plenty of fruit…but there were also black vines tangled on some of the trees, and wherever that happened, speckles also appeared on the leaves.
From a healthy green to an ominous red, those vines were slowly changing the appearance of the forest from outside in. That was the visual representation of Seyfert being taken over by Criferd.

“Fia, have any fairies shown any bad symptoms from these changes to the forest?”

Suzaku asked the fairy guiding them about those changes, while he continued holding Da’at Criferd’s hand, as she looked down and remained silent.

*”Mm… I mean, it feels a bit weird sometimes, but that’s just how things are I guess?”*
*”It’s weird, and that’s it!”*
*””Yup!””*

The two fairies present spoke without much care.

“Ahh… Right, fairies are all beings born from nature, and the change between Seyfert and Criferd is a natural change, so they don’t see anything wrong with it.”
“Even if that means they’ll die?”
“Yes, even if they die. They accept things as they are… That’s just their nature as well.”

Sorleon shrugged a bit as he reiterated that.
It was true that fairies would accept their fate without complaining…but…

“And yet they’ve chosen to help us out. Maybe they haven’t fully given up yet.”
“That’s…true.”
“They’ll try to keep things as they are, but won’t mind whichever result…it sounds like.”

After Crim’s comment, Freya and Frey chimed in.
The idea that the fairies were expecting something big from players like them, hence their choice to help…was exhilarating in its own way.
They talked about such things as they continued walking through the green forest dotted with bits of red.

Until eventually…

“Woahh..!”
“There’s a huge clearing..!”

Hinagiku and Lycoris, who had rushed ahead of the group, had found something interesting.

“Ohh..!”
“Wahh..!”
“Now this is something…”

The next ones to reach that place were Crim, Freya, and Frey, who also raised their voices. The same repeated with everyone else who came after them.

Put in a single word…they were seeing paradise.
After the thick forest, they had reached a huge clearing, many kilometers in diameter.
The surface of the clearing looked like a lake of emeralds, boiling and twisting, and nearby they could see many fairies playing around.
At the very center of that clearing, standing imposing, as tall as the eye could see, adorned with luscious green leaves…a huge tree with a trunk that was easily more than a hundred meters wide.
The ground beneath them was also permeated with so much mana they could feel it by touch, going and coming from the huge tree.

Not even the wild animals dared approach that place, with the silence only being broken by the laughter of fairies.

“So this is it…the World Tree Seyfert… I wonder just how many hundreds of meters tall it is.”
“And that’s definitely not a lake around it, is it? It’s the concentrated flow of all ley lines.”

While everyone admired the sight, Cheval and Reinhard were a bit more grounded.

…This was the heart of this world, the place where spent and unclean mana was purified and recirculated back into the world.

And a distance ahead of them, just in front of the World Tree Seyfert was…
