As the path forward became blocked by a wall of raging flames, Crim spat out in frustration. Frey reprimanded her for that, even as he had his hands full trying to keep her safe.

Then again, Crim’s species was extremely weak to fire.
Not to mention that her whole build was to be a glass cannon, relying on the old adage of damage only being bad if she got hit.

As a result…if the flames from the orbs flying around Aery merely grazed her, most of her HP would be gone in an instant.

Even with Freya and Shao constantly trying to heal her, it was not enough, so Frey had to join the healing efforts as well, so it came as no surprise that Crim wanted to complain. The whole situation was so ridiculous it was bordering on comical.

…But it was also starting to feel desperate.

*”We can’t possibly just sit back and watch while all of you put your lives on the line for our sake.”*

That was the voice of Queen Florite, who was supposed to be resting after having used her Farsight ability for too long. Even in this situation, her voice sounded cheerful and nonchalant as usual, audible through the whole battlefield.

Starting with Crim, all of the players there began to wonder why she showed up like that.

*”Sven, is everything ready?”*
“Yes, we’re ready. Should we do it, sister?”
*”Yes please.”*

After the queen gave them permission, the elven archers with Sven at their lead began to chant something.
At the same time, they brought out a special arrow from their quivers, raising them in prayer before nocking them.

“…Small playful spirit of the wind Sylph, make my aim true… Shoot Arrow!”

Then…when Sven was done chanting, eight arrows were shot at the same time.
As they flew, they were enveloped in a green glowing wind, which took hold of them…and then propelled them like missiles, making them stick into the ground around the battleground.

Right after… a soft greenish blue light emerged from the ground, completely surrounding the battleground and stretching far up into the sky.
It looked very similar to the barrier protecting the Flowery City Floria.

*”Hm…”*

And Aery let out a grumbling sound.
Her lips puckered up into a pout, in a very childish “I’m mad” way. She would have looked cute, if only she was not in the middle of a burning inferno.
Either way, it was obvious that she was not happy about what was happening.

*”Hello everyone, I’m the alchemist Selena. I’m glad to hear that the secret weapon was deployed successfully.”*
“Hm, Selena? Was this thine doing?!”

Hearing that unexpected voice, Crim asked back while continuously evading the fire from the orbs.

*”Yes, those arrows earlier were made with cuttings from Harunia trees, they’re holy arrows!”*
“And we set them up as anchor points to deploy a barrier here!”

Selena’s voice seemed really excited as she explained what had happened, and then Sven chimed in.
The arrows the elven archers had shot, acted in a similar way to the old Harunia Trees around the city, creating a large barrier.

That made Crim concerned. There had to be someone keeping up the barrier spell, and the queen was already at her limit, and Crim did not want her to shoulder even more…

*”…This is a pretty small barrier compared to the city’s, but it should be more effective at restraining and weakening enemies within it.”*
“Lawran, was this spell thy doing as well?!”

The burden of keeping up the barrier was quite high, as he frowned and had a sour look on his face.
That much made sense, since it was a spell that was exhausting even for the queen, a high elf, so it had to be even worse for him.

Still, Crim had not been expecting him to aid them like that, so she spoke to him in shock.

*”Heh…I may have my thoughts about leaving my land in the hands of others, but all I can really do is keep this barrier up, so I’ll leave everything else up to you..!”*
“We won’t…disappoint!”

As they spoke, Crim had finally managed to find an opening through the raging flames and her black greatsword reached Aery.
But its edge was repelled as Aery’s Absolute Defense had regenerated.

The resistance number was less than a third than before, and the timeframe to pry it open was twice as long, showing just how much the barrier was weakening Aery’s Absolute Defense, and Crim let out a delighted cheer.
