If you don’t want to call out to me directly, then just drop the chapter in the group and say my name.

What’s the difference between a genius and a crazy person?

Back then, Momokawa Wakana might have said some nonsense like, “To be one step ahead is to be a genius, to be two steps ahead is to be mentally deranged.” But now, she could only answer this: there’s not a damn difference!

Kana fell sick again, although being frail is her trope at this point, but this time, her sickness was so serious that it alarmed everyone in the most urgent manner possible. She has been on IV drip for two days straight, yet her fever hasn’t subsided even a little bit. She is using a quilt blanket in the hottest period of summer, yet she kept shivering. She remained in a dazed and muddled state, murmuring incoherently from time to time. The most puzzling of all was that, even though it seemed that she’s on the verge of death, the frail girl’s mind was extremely clear. If asked a question, she only need to be willing, then she can answer fluently like usual. Yet, the doctors were stumped, unable to do anything other than administering more fever-reducing medicine.

Momokawa believed that Kana’s sudden illness was her fault. She blamed herself very much. She has requested leave of absence for two days straight, taking great care of Kana.

Yet, just yesterday, Kana suddenly asked a profound question, “Drug trafficking, arms dealing, bank robbery, which would bring money the fastest?1

Momokawa wasn’t intimate with any of these methods, as they say, “Different industries are like different mountains”2, they are way outside of her specialty. She doesn’t understand the income situation of the people delved in any of these businesses.3 However, since Kana asked, she can only use her impression from movies and TV shows, and she cast her precious vote to drug trafficking.

Yet, Kana expressed refusal, because she herself was in team “bank robbery”.

Political disputes are quite troublesome. Without accurate data, no one can convince the others. So, Kana decided to rob a bank to prove it to Momokawa4.

Kana ordered online an AK and a Glock—the former is a water gun, and the latter is a starting pistol—she also bought a sweat towel, a pair of novelty handcuffs, and then she enthusiastically set off to rob a bank. The target was a Chiba Bank branch located in the central district (Chuuouku) of Tokyo.

Wakana thought that she herself was also going mad. Had the difficulty of robbing a bank dropped this low without her knowing?

Kana also didn’t ask her to accompany her to rob the bank, only asked her to support her from the outside, but Wakana didn’t even know what she should support, maybe the best option right then was to call the police.

“The bank president you mentioned is now in the parking lot…” Momokawa was sitting in a cafe across the road from the bank, feeding her information, and then she felt that she has to dissuade her, “Kana, let’s give up? You aren’t healthy, and you can get imprisoned for robbing a bank…” You can hear that she almost start sobbing.

“Heh, I can’t be imprisoned,” Kana spoke through her Bluetooth headphone, “I don’t have the skill, how could I rob a bank? You think I’m mentally ill?”

‘Aren’t you mentally ill though?’ she internally cursed. She was about to convince her a bit more, before Kana cut her off, “I’m hanging up, I’m moving in.”

Morikawa Kazuo was standing in front of the office. He sighed with a worried frown, when a hard object was pushed into his waist.

“Surprise, Morikawa-sensei,” a sharp and clear voice resounded.

Kazuo saw from the corner of his eyes that it was an AK. He immediately tensed up, “This, this ojou-chan…”

“Morikawa-sensei, I don’t intend to harm anyone, so please follow my instructions. Can you?”

“Of course, of course…”

“First step, please walk through the door.”

Kazuo hesitated a little, the door into the office is locked with a combination lock, and only he knew the combination.

“President Mori…kawa…” his female secretary called out from the corridor, suddenly pop out of nowhere, she’s holding a document folder, as if was about to brief him on a situation, but she instead saw the president being held at gunpoint by someone.

Bang bang, two gunshot sounded.

“A…” she shrieked while crouching where she was, holding her own body in fear.

“Open the door,” Kana repeated.

Kazuo had had a little doubt that this was all an elaborate prank, however, the two gun fire have shattered his fantasy, he can only follow her instruction and open the door.

Kana then poked his waist, “Walk in.”

He raised his hands, and then walked into the room until he reached the desk. Kana point to the computer resting on it, “Open that.”

He turned it on, and then pulled out a magnetic card, he swiped it, and the computer entered Chiba Bank’s internal network. As instructed, he entered his own account password.

Kana pulled out a handcuffs and throw it to him, ordering him to lock himself to the file cabinet.

Kazuo watched Kana skillfully using the system to search for something. In two minutes, she locked in into a certain thing—an account numbered “88888”.

“If I’m not mistaken, what would this account’s password be?” Kana inputted six “4”s, and she successfully entered the account. She chuckled, “Inside 8 is 4, how ironic.5

Kazuo’s eyes shot out. “Who are you? How do you know that account!” He looked more terrified compared to when he was held at a gunpoint.

The bank’s alarm finally sounded, the door to the office was audibly locked automatically. Kana didn’t seem flustered in the slightest, she thoroughly documented the transaction record of the account on her phone, and then sent it. The file was a little big, the network speed is also not fast, so it took a little while.

Police siren can be heard a little. The police arrived very quickly. After all, this is the central district of Tokyo.

Kana let out a breath and dialed Eru’s number.

“Hey, Sis, what’s wrong?”

“Eru, I missed you.”

“Then, when will you be coming home? How is your illness?”

“It’s not a problem, I want to play around in Tokyo for a few more days.”

“Then don’t forget to eat properly.”

“I know~~~ Eru, you are so nagging.”

“If you have listened before, I also wouldn’t need to repeat this.”

“I know, in short, I want to stay for a few days before going. Bye bye, I’m hanging up.”

“Eh?”

Kana then hung up.

Deliberate quiet steps can be heard from outside the door, and then a group of armed, vested black police broke down the door, “Don’t move! Drop your weapon!”

“I surrender,” Kana immediately held up her hands, and then she quickly winked at Kazuo, “How about 5 billion yen?”

Kazuo can only gape, he was drenched in sweat, as if he had been fished out of water.

The one arrested was grinning from ear to ear, while the one rescued was as pale as death itself. The police that were witnessing this were also confused.

Footnotes:

  1. Richie: I feel like all three of these are as slow as the speed of your money laundering capacity.
  2. Richie: In case you are curious, the original proverb is 所谓隔行如隔山. It translates to that.
  3. Richie: Really, there should be a more legal way to get money fast. How about loan shark, or credit card? Oh wait, that is just taking money from the future.
  4. Richie: I really don’t know how this connects to other paragraphs, this is how the original read.
  5. Richie: 8 bā is a homonyms with 发 fà (发财) which means getting rich, and so 8 is associated with wealth. 4 sì is associated with 死 which means death. The irony is that inside the wealth is death.
