“Hey, was that the activation just now?!”
“Is it already done, is it?!”

As the spherical Blood Grail slowly descended into the center of the mold, Isaac and Romeo came rushing over to me.

“Incredible… I thought I had a sense of the size from the blueprints, but seeing a Blood Grail this large up close is something else.”
“Lady Leafa, you completed that massive Blood Grail in such a short time, you did?!”

I had gotten carried away in the excitement and lost myself in the process. But maybe I had finished it a little too quickly. Seeing Isaac and Romeo stare in astonishment, I feigned a modest expression.

“…Well, I’ve made one before.”

It had been in my previous life, but that wasn’t technically a lie.

“More importantly, looks like you two are done as well. I appreciate the quick work.”

It seemed Isaac and Romeo had finished producing the Mecha Soldier’s staff using the mold they designed.

“No, no, no! That’s our line!”
“Exactly, forsooth!”

The two shook their heads vigorously, giving wry smiles. But with this, we now had all the materials needed to complete the magic staff.

“Let’s go ahead and fit it in with the crane.”
“I’ll do it!”

Romeo eagerly raised his hand and rushed to the crane. With his precise control, he carefully lowered the Blood Grail into place between the conical base and the crown-like frame. As intended, the Blood Grail settled snugly into the center under its own weight.

“…That’s it. It’s complete. Let’s test it by channeling aether through it.”
“My heart won’t stop pounding, forsooth!”
“Calm down, Isaac.”

Even as Romeo chided him, his own eagerness was obvious—he had rushed over the moment he climbed down from the crane.

“Since it’s an aether amplifier, we should hook it up to a measuring device to properly verify its output.”
“As expected of you, Romeo.”

Prioritizing precision, Romeo took the initiative to connect it to a measuring instrument. I was also eager to see just how much output this would generate. This was going to be interesting.

“All set! Ready when you are.”
“Alright, here goes.”

The moment I placed my hand on the magic staff’s grip and channeled aether—

“Uwaaaah!?”
“Too bright, it is!”

Aether burst forth from the magic staff, transforming into a dazzling flash of light that illuminated the entire workshop.

“What in the world is going on?!”

The Professor, who had been working at a distance, came rushing over in alarm.

“Apologies… We just finished the magic staff and were conducting an activation test.”

Seriously. I hadn’t expected my lack of foresight to be exposed like this.

The sudden flash had occurred because I poured aether into the magic staff without giving it any magical direction, its intended use. On top of that, I had supplied too much aether, causing the excess to be expelled as blinding light.

“T-The output… What does the reading say?”
“…O-One hundred and fifty Magia… No way…”

Romeo’s voice trembled as he read the output displayed on the measuring device—150 Magia.

“A standard Mecha Soldier’s output is between 50 and 80 Magia—That is double—no, triple, forsooth!”
“Leafa, this output is insane!”
“…Yeah, looks like it…”

It seemed the fact that my blood contained Aurora’s light aether had played a significant role after all. Even I was astonished by the results—it had exceeded all expectations.

And this was just from lightly channeling aether for an activation test. If Alfe’s aether output were to be amplified through this… things could get really crazy.

“…Leafa, would you be able to compile a report on the process of refining this Blood Grail? Of course, I promise you’ll receive plenty of extra credit.”

The Professor covered his mouth, barely able to suppress his excitement as he made the request. Well, since I had secured time for this under the engineering department’s open-ended assignment, I had no reason to refuse.

That said, there was no way I could openly admit I drew the transmutation circle using blood infused with Aurora’s aether, and that’s how it turned out. I’d have to tweak the formula later and come up with an alternative transmutation method that could plausibly yield a similar effect.

“…Um, I think it might be due to randomly rearranging the transmutation circle’s structure, but honestly, it was just an idea I tried on the spot, so I doubt it’s reproducible1…”
“That’s perfectly fine! Just record everything you remember—please, I need that report!!”

Good grief. Writing a fake report didn’t sit well with me, and I could already tell the Professor would become obsessed with replicating the results. I’d need to prepare something convincing for a follow-up experiment. Fortunately, while sketching out the transmutation circle, I had come up with a few promising ideas.

Might as well work on it—it’d be useful for the future, too.
