I made copies of the completed blueprint using the school’s magic-powered printing device and shared one each with Isaac and Romeo during lunch break.

“You—y-you made this in just one night, you did!?”
“We don’t have much time, and it’s just the magic staff for now. There’s still a ton left to do.”

I responded with a wry smile to Isaac and Romeo, who were wide-eyed with astonishment. Honestly, I wanted to move at an even faster pace, but if I pushed too hard from the start, my true abilities might seem suspicious. Something like this wouldn’t exactly violate the goddess’ taboos, but considering Melua, I needed to be careful not to stand out too much.

“Well, there might be some oversights, so let me know if you notice anything.”
“Yeah. I think this is more than enough, but if anything comes up during the process, I’ll check in with you.”

Romeo nodded confidently in response to my request. His eyes had completely taken on the look of a craftsman. It wasn’t just because his family ran a magic device manufacturing company—he genuinely loved designing and building things like this.

“We’ve got elective classes in the afternoon, so let’s get to work in the workshop right away.”
“For the aetherite synthesis, we can use the automatic alchemy device, forsooth.”

Isaac and Romeo, making sure to grasp the role distribution laid out in the blueprint, left the classroom while eagerly studying the design I had drawn. From the way they looked, they’d likely have a firm grasp of the procedure and workflow before afternoon classes started.

Now then, I needed to find Melua to secure the crucial magic stones.

“Leafa. Would it be okay if I went off on my own for a bit today?”

Just as I was about to ask Alfe about Melua’s whereabouts, she softly spoke up.

“Oh, sure. Do you have something to do?”

Hom had already left the classroom, saying she was going to stock up on food at the cafeteria with Farah, Vannabelle, and Numelin before their afternoon military studies class. That left just the two of us in the room.

“I was thinking of visiting Melua at her atelier.”

Ah, right—Melua was exempt from magic studies classes.

“In that case, I’ll come too. I have a request for her.”
“Yeah, let’s go together!”

Alfe hadn’t expected me to join her, and her face lit up with a beaming smile as she took my hand.

“That makes me really happy.”
“That much?”

Alfe peered up at me while squeezing my hand tightly.

“Yeah. When you’re with me, I don’t feel as nervous.”
“I guess that’s because I ended up being Melua’s mentor.”

I never imagined I’d take on a disciple in this life, but with someone as talented as Melua, teaching her was bound to be rewarding.

For now, I was just providing her with the magic tools she requested and offering small bits of advice. But since I had accepted the title of “mentor,” at some point, I’d have to start acting the part.

I wondered what Melua would seek from me when that time came. The fact that she had taken an interest in the magic tools I had created in my previous life was a bit concerning.

That said, both the Ring of the Shimmering Starry Sky and The Bracelet of the Gentle Unicorn were mass-produced items. And considering their original owner, Ms. Matilda, was the Witch of the Everdark Forest, it wouldn’t be surprising for her to possess all sorts of magic tools.

Seeing how delighted Melua had been with my craftsmanship, maybe she simply had a fondness for ornate designs.
