The repercussions of stuffing oneself became evident, highlighting the limitations of humans. Regardless of how impressive a human’s stomach might be, it paled in comparison to the bottomless pit that is a dragon’s stomach. Observing Mo Li’s performance, Estarossa, feeling a sense of crisis, began stuffing himself with reckless abandon. His pride and reluctance to accept defeat brought dire consequences for himself.
“Argh!” Following the numbing sensation in his stomach, Estarossa found himself in a momentary daze before vomiting all the food he had previously consumed. Undigested fragments mingled with yellow and green bile, spurting out in green and white projectiles due to his rapid consumption. This triggered panic and disgust among the audience, but the other contestants on stage were the ones most affected.
“Ew!”
“Agh!”
The contestants, initially intrigued by the commotion unfolding around them, quickly turned pale-faced upon witnessing the disturbance. Their feelings of disgust gradually escalated until they became irrepressible. Even if they promptly averted their gaze, the repulsive scene lingered in their minds. Observing Estarossa vomit the same food that sat before them left them with an uncomfortable sensation akin to consuming his vomit.
“Argh!” As if a chain reaction had been triggered, the feeling of disgust began to spread, and the number of people vomiting expanded from just Estarossa to an entire group. The sudden change in the situation caused the audience’s reactions to turn sour as they hurriedly backed away from the stage.
“Young master, there seems to be an issue with the competition. Should I arrange for someone to calm the situation?”
“No need, I feel it’s progressing quite well.” The young master was very pleased with the current situation. Following his line of sight to the stage, one could discern the petite shadow of the only person who was not bothered by all the vomiting.
“Buns, Purple Sweet Potatoes, Sago Soup…” She was completely immersed in her world of eating as if there was a dimension between her and the people around her. Not at all noticing the individuals vomiting nearby.
“Well done!”
This was precisely the scene the young master had wanted to see. After all, he was the sole individual who had placed bets on Mo Li. If she took the lead and won, he would make a fortune! He was so ecstatic that he almost forgot about his image and jumped for joy in his excitement.
An unknown poet from ancient times once described a dragon’s stomach like this: It’s just a large pit of fire, and anything thrown in is burned into ash. As the competition neared its conclusion, the winner was clear. The audience, too, was astounded by the uninterrupted eating of the cloaked girl. It was as if, whenever they witnessed her eating, their own taste buds came alive.
After the competition.
A particular dragon girl sat on the vacant table, rubbing her stomach and licking the corners of her mouth. Beneath her, ‘blood’ flowed like a river, accompanied by a floor littered with ‘corpses,’ and a noxious odor permeated the air. Though she appeared completely unfazed by it. The colorful scene was rather astonishing.
“Kiddo, oh no, miss congratulations on your victory, any remarks you’d like to make concerning your victory?” After a while, a servant finally walked onto the stage, pinching their nose and holding a magic mic to her mouth.
“Remarks, on my victory?” The girl tilted her head and looked around as if she didn’t realize that she had won. “Eh, what’s wrong with them?… Forget it, remarks or whatever don’t matter, I’m, um, only half full, and still want some desserts.”
“Huh??” The servant was left speechless and didn’t know how to respond. This little girl single-handedly devoured the equivalent of 50 people’s worth of food, and she’s only half full? Even the young master below the stage began to look at the girl strangely, wondering if she was actually human. However, he quickly dismissed his suspicions. ‘Maybe it’s her specialty, yes, that has to be it. What else could it be? She couldn’t possibly not be human, right? No, no. If she’s not human, then what would she be? It’s not like she can be a dragon, right? Impossible. Sure, dragons are said to exist, but in reality, no one has ever seen one. For a creature whose existence isn’t even confirmed to appear in the human federation, it’s just a joke.’
Thinking this, the young master was almost taken aback by his own imagination and theorizing ability. He couldn’t be blamed, though. Put plainly, Fran City is just a small, inconspicuous city in the Papal States. Things like dragons, vampires, and other mythical creatures are simply way out of the realm of the people here, having nothing to do with their daily lives. Over time, the people have begun to doubt and even forget about the existence of mythical races. Limited by such thinking, the idea of a dragon being right next to them wasn’t even entertained.
“Well done little girl. As promised, here’s your reward.” After Mo Li stepped off the stage, the young master honored his agreement and generously handed her three bags of silver coins. Being willing to bleed such a sum indicates that the young master has made far more than what he gave Mo Li; after all, he’s still a businessman and would never shortchange himself. Having barely filled her belly while earning money, Mo Li’s face was filled with bliss.
Seeing this, the young master’s eyes spun as he contemplated another business idea. If he could get this little girl to follow him, he could organize competitions everywhere and make a fortune. However, upon careful consideration, he abandoned the idea as the girl’s appetite was truly too large, even he was alarmed by the amount she ate. In the short term, it might be manageable, but in the long run, she might eat him out of house and home. Fortunately, this young master could be considered as having a conscience; the few bags of silver coins he gave to Mo Li were all genuine and not diluted with any copper.
Having filled her belly, Mo Li left the crowd and reverted back to her human form. It was only then that he thought about checking whether the silver had been diluted or not. After hurriedly inspecting it, Mo Li let out a breath of relief upon grabbing a handful of silver. This should be enough for tuition; Fran Academy’s yearly tuition is only 20 silver coins. Combined with the previous earnings, it’s plenty enough to cover the tuition. Although 20 silver coins might seem like a small amount, in Fran City’s economy, it is already an extremely substantial sum of money.
Three silver coins are sufficient for a family of three to sustain themselves for many months, so 20 silver coins to the commoners of Fran City would be akin to sucking them dry. But this time, Mo Li could finally experience what it’s like to be rich. Upon returning to school in the afternoon, Mo Li casually tossed a prepared bag containing twenty silver coins onto the instructor’s desk. Under the blank stares of his classmates, he swaggered back to his seat, laid his head face down on the table, and promptly fell asleep. After all, he hadn’t slept well the previous night.
Seeing this, the instructor was so angry that his mustache began pointing upwards. Observing the bag full of silver coins, the instructor realized that Mo Li probably couldn’t be expelled. ‘But, not expelling is not expelling. You think I can’t handle you, huh?’
“Mo Li, you!…” The instructor, who was meticulously counting the coins, suddenly paused. The reason being, he noticed that the number of coins in the bag wasn’t 20 but 21. In other words…
“Is something the matter, instructor?” Mo Li lifted his head and looked at the old man, confusion on his face.
“Oh, it’s nothing, teacher can see that you’re a bit tired. You must have been up all night last night studying and didn’t get a good sleep, right, combining rest and hard work is the correct way to learn. May Sera bless you, studious child.”
“Then I’ll have to thank you for your understanding, instructor.” Seeing this easily bribed old man, Mo Li silently sneered.
