As the classes ended, I immediately left the classroom alone.
I’m heading straight home. This was the first time I’ve commuted home alone for two days straight.

Misaki is apparently dropping by somewhere for a small detour with that Ruka girl.
I don’t really intend to get in their way; she can do whatever she wants. That’s why, before things get complicated, I quickly pull back.

My intuition was right.
Or rather, my premonition.

There’s a sudden surge of people making approaches to Misaki.
Just what is going on? Is this a result of Misaki just doing whatever yesterday while I took my eyes off of her?
With all the things happening in just one day, what would happen if I just left her on her own devices?

Misaki doesn’t draw clear boundaries either.
She’s easily swayed by other people. She’s firm when dealing with boys but soft on girls.
Her being indecisive is nothing new. I really wish she’d fix that part of her.

At this point, I have no idea what’s inside Misaki’s head.
… No, I know what she’s probably thinking about, like it’s the back of my hand.

Misaki wants to flaunt her closeness with someone else, seemingly to make me jealous.
It’s so obvious; I’m flabbergasted. It’s almost cute of her.

But it’s been slowly making my blood boil.
I’m mad that she thinks that I’d get jealous with something like that. And I’m also mad that it actually made me feel irritated.
I even got bothered by her banter with Rion; something’s wrong with me.

From Misaki’s point of view, she might just want payback, but I’m sure she didn’t expect the people around her to be so assertive that she couldn’t refuse them. She won’t be able to pull away.
Acting on a whim without properly thinking about the consequences, stuーpid.

… *Haah*.
I really am an unpleasant woman.
I understand this much, yet I acted mad… No, I was actually mad and pushed Misaki away.

Still, this is my fault in the first place, isn’t it?
Yesterday, Misaki confessed that she loves me, yet I was being contrarian for no good reason and gave a weird response.

Misaki doing all these weird things was all because I didn’t respond honestly.
Wanting for someone while stubbornly hiding my own feelings, isn’t it just unfair?

Let’s just stop this. Stop being so mean-spirited.
I need to properly answer Misaki’s feelings.

I love Misaki, too. That’s why I don’t want Misaki to get close to other people. I want Misaki to look only at me.
I need to say it properly, like that.
I should’ve just said this from the start.

Reaching my train stop, I took a short detour to the supermarket.
For tonight’s dinner, I decided to make her favorite hamburg steak.

I need ground meat and onions. There should still be eggs and bread flour left.
And to garnish, broccoli and carrots… are what Misaki doesn’t eat, so potato and corn instead. I probably won’t have enough prep time, so I’ll just go with the frozen ones.
I also bought some fruit jelly for a little desert.

With that over, I headed straight to Misaki’s apartment.
It’s a bit weird but I did this yesterday, too. But today, there’s no need for me to hide.
I sent a Line message to my family, but since I wanted to surprise Misaki, I didn’t send her anything.

In the kitchen, I prepare the ingredients.
Mince the onions and saute. I knead the meat and slam it onto the chopping board. For stress reduction.

With that finished, I put them inside the refrigerator.
I’m pretty used to this, so I was all done before 6 pm.

Having no idea when Misaki will get home, I wait in the living room.
If it’s just a short detour, then it shouldn’t take her that long. Actually, isn’t she pretty late?

Should I call her one time?
But calling her would be weird. I don’t know what to tell her, either.
I can send her a Line, but what do I write? Besides, I really want to surprise her.

Reclining on the sofa, I turn on the TV. But I turned it off shortly after.
I was getting a bit uneasy for some reason, so I started walking around the room aimlessly.

I head to the bathroom for a moment, fixing my hair in front of the mirror.
I smile at my reflection in the mirror. Smiling practice.

Misaki said that I looked cute with the apron over my uniform, so I didn’t change.
I kept the apron on.
Isn’t this kinda like some erotic play?

I close my eyes and imagine myself greeting Misaki.
Misaki has a surprised expression, and I’d smile at her.

Suddenly, I feel my heart racing. What should I say?
I’m sorry for being mean-spirited. I’m not really angry at you.
I… also have something I want to tell you, Misaki.

Will that be fine?
But the important part is what comes next….

I love you; please go out with me….? That’s kinda weird.
Not ‘go out’… ‘I want to be by your side’? ‘Stay by my side’? ‘Don’t get close with people other than me’?
No, it’s becoming less of a confession and more of an order.
Why do I keep being authoritative? C’mon.

As I was lost in my mind, it became 7:30 PM.
With the TV and everything else still off, I lie down on the living room sofa.

At this point, I’m frankly hungry.
I make enough dinner for both of us, so it’s not really an issue if I eat ahead. But that would spoil the mood, so I endured.

Still, Misaki’s really late.
Did something happen on her way home?
Growing worried, I checked my smartphone once again. She hasn’t contacted me either.

Then suddenly, I hear noise from the front.
It’s the sound of the door opening. I swiftly sat up like a startled cat, and shortly after, I hear footsteps closing in.

「Miyu? Are you there?」

I hear Misaki’s voice from the entranceway, causing my heart to beat fast.
With my hands before my chest, I took a deep breath and stood up.

Translator's Note

And so our chapter ends with Miyu being a housewife waiting for her late spouse? Also, why are you late, Misaki?

I really like how Miyu was being introspective this time. Her frustration is very clear to see, but it’s great that she understands how she contributed to the complication of their relationship, lol. She’s really trying her best to be better, making a surprise dinner of Misaki’s favorite dish. Now let’s see how things will go. Side note: It’s funny how Miyu practically has no references in contrast to Misaki, lol.

Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Actually, do comment. Reading comments rejuvenate my youth and nourishes my garden. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice week~!
