After discussing matters with Lili, Yae-hime took the opportunity to log off. Alicia and the other elites would not arrive at Aoma Village until the evening. There was little she could accomplish by staying in the game, so she might as well log out and get some rest.
No one could accurately predict how long the war in the wee hours would last. Making some extra preparations was still necessary. Otherwise, getting forcibly logged out right before the battle ended would be a complete tragedy.
The moment Yae-hime got out of bed, she saw Avelora lying on the floor with a look of utter despair plastered across her face. The feeling of hunger was anything but pleasant.
“Surrender to me, Avelora.” Stepping down from the bed, Yae-hime looked down at her from above.
“Mmph! Mmph!” Avelora glared up at her, making incomprehensible sounds through her gag. The expression on her face seemed to say: In your dreams!
“Surrender to me, and you’ll immediately have roast chicken, giant prawns, and more delicious food than you could ever eat.” Yae-hime smiled.
Avelora simply closed her eyes and ignored her. At the moment, she had almost no energy expenditure anyway.
Seeing that reaction, Yae-hime immediately lost interest. Picking up her phone from the bedside table and lighting up the screen, she blinked in surprise. There were fifty unread messages. Every single one had been sent by Rakshasa.
“What happened?” Slowly sitting down on the bed, Yae-hime began reading through them. Under normal circumstances, Rakshasa would never disturb her. Unless something serious had happened.
Then again, if something truly major had occurred, Mylene would probably have informed her before Rakshasa did. After spending several minutes going through the messages, Yae-hime finally finished reading them all.
As it turned out, they were about Rakshasa’s family affairs. Just as Pixie had said, the messages contained various secrets regarding the Li family. However, she genuinely knew nothing about the elder sister who had suddenly appeared uninvited.
“Could this Tiffany be the expert the Li family sent to protect Rakshasa?” With that question in mind, Yae-hime called Pixie in Yanjing. After receiving a definite answer, she found herself somewhat surprised. Tiffany was actually a twenty-year-old Grandmaster. The foundation of the hidden Li Family was indeed far from ordinary.
“As expected of a hidden family that has been passed down since ancient times. Even a declining family like the Li Family can casually send out a young Grandmaster… No, considering the Li Family’s current situation, things probably aren’t going too well for them. Yet they still sent Tiffany here. It’s obvious they care quite a bit about Rakshasa. And Rakshasa’s stepmother doesn’t seem nearly as bad as I imagined.” Yae-hime nodded in satisfaction.
She had originally assumed the Li Family would just make a token gesture. Instead, they had directly sent Rakshasa’s elder sister to her side.
“Now that Tiffany and Rakshasa are living together, there’s really nothing to worry about.” After sending a text message to comfort the bewildered Rakshasa, Yae-hime habitually checked Aqua Blue Star’s recovery data.
Just like usual, nothing had changed. There was still no movement from the insects’ side. The outside world appeared calm and peaceful today. For Yae-hime, that was good news. The last thing she wanted was for some major crisis to suddenly erupt in reality while she was in the middle of a battle in the game.
After observing all potential threats for a while longer, Yae-hime finally felt reassured enough to rest.
At the same time, on the Linhnan Server, Adventurers’ Guild. Taurus lightly tapped his finger against the tabletop, a playful smile appearing on his face.
Seated around the round table used for high-level meetings of the Death of Love Guild were five people, including Taurus himself. Of the five, four were clearly not members of Death of Love’s upper management.
On the left sat the guildmaster of the Helios Guild, a twenty-two-year-old male Warrior and future successor of Harmony Group, Vincent.
Next to him sat the president of the Shining Star Guild, a twenty-year-old female Magician and the second young lady of the Li Family of Huadu, Serena.
On the right sat the vice guildmaster of the Blue Phantom Guild, a thirty-three-year-old male Priest and executive director of Dixin Group, Everett Di.
Beside him sat the guildmaster of the Diamond Stardust Guild, a twenty-year-old male Mage and the second young master of the Lin Family of Roc City, Stanley.
…
In the span of a single day, these four guilds had practically swallowed up every major guild in Linhnan. Their financial power was so overwhelming that it bordered on the unbelievable.
At that moment, the leaders or representatives of the four major guilds had gathered to discuss an alliance with Taurus. The atmosphere in the room was somewhat strange.
Stanley leaned back in his chair, never once directing his gaze toward Taurus. The two had long since fallen out. If his family hadn’t ordered him to attend, he wouldn’t have come in the first place.
‘I was cursing Taurus and his ancestors just a few days ago, and now the family wants me to attend a meeting with him. What the hell is this!?’ In Stanley’s eyes, there was no way these negotiations could succeed.
“Young Master Taurus, I assume you already know that we’re here to discuss forming an alliance.” Seeing that no one else was speaking, the sweet-looking Serena hesitated briefly before taking the initiative.
Once the conversation began, the others gradually joined in.
“This quest is of Legend difficulty. It far exceeds our current level. If we want to secure greater benefits during the upcoming war, we need to stand united.” Everett said calmly, his refined and scholarly appearance matching his composed tone.
“Exactly. Jade City is already operating at full capacity. The room left for players to make an impact is actually quite limited. Rather than acting separately, we’d be better off gathering our strength and pursuing the greatest possible gains together.” Vincent said.
Stanley remained silent throughout, as though his mouth had been zipped shut. Taurus swept his gaze across the room with interest before finally letting it settle on Stanley’s face.
Then he looked away, the corner of his mouth curling into a mocking smile. An alliance? Cooperation? In reality, they were simply after his body! More specifically, they were after the powerful body of the Death of Love Guild!
As the number one guild in Linhnan and a guild ranked among the world’s top ten, who wouldn’t covet its strength?
Just because Yae-hime had beaten the Death of Love Guild black and blue didn’t mean it was weak. To put it bluntly, even if these four guilds combined their strength, they still wouldn’t be a match for Death of Love!
“Trash.” Taurus looked directly at Stanley and spoke with utter disdain.
Stanley’s temper exploded instantly. Slamming his palm onto the table, he shot to his feet and glared at Taurus. “What did you just say!?”
“Oh, sorry. I’m not targeting you specifically. I’m saying everyone here is trash!” Taurus said with a smile. A wildly arrogant smile.
‘Trying to take advantage of me? I can’t do anything to that black-hearted Princess, but do you really think I can’t deal with the lot of you? Have I become too dull to wield my blade, or have you all gotten too full of yourselves!?’
The moment Taurus finished speaking, the Adventurers’ Guild fell into complete silence. The room became so quiet that a pin drop could have been heard.
The four visitors sat frozen in shock. Each of them was a prominent figure in their own right, yet they had just been publicly insulted to their faces. For a moment, none of them could even process what had happened.
“Taurus, say that again if you’ve got the guts!” Stanley roared. He had the distinct feeling that Taurus was deliberately targeting him. After all, in the previous incident, he had been the victim!
Serena’s face darkened so much it seemed ready to drip ink. Everett’s eyes flashed like lightning, though no one could tell what was going through his mind.
“Taurus, you’ve gone too far!” Vincent slammed the table and rose to his feet, pointing angrily at Taurus.
“Oh? You have objections?” With a cold laugh, Taurus snapped his fingers. In an instant, the Death of Love Guild executives seated around the room sprang to their feet and aggressively closed in from all sides.
Faced with such a display, the expressions of the four players, whose highest level was only Level 11, changed dramatically.
In reality, they stood high above the masses and looked down upon people like ants. But inside the game, those very “ants” were exerting tremendous pressure on them. It felt as though any one of them could crush the four of them to death with ease.
