Finally, they reached an inn.
“Phew…” Lily sat down with an uneasy sigh. “Where exactly have we ended up?”
She thought about asking Rinne, but when she entered the Mirror Dimension, Rinne’s room was tightly shut. Perhaps her condition wasn’t good, and she was resting? Lily didn’t dare disturb her. After all, although they were trapped here, they had yet to encounter any real danger.
The world inside the Sakura Parasol did not necessarily seem hostile toward them. The real question was, how were they supposed to leave?
So far, she had seen no obvious threats, but neither had she discovered any benefits. They couldn’t remain trapped in this bewildering place forever.
Judging from the bizarre laws governing this world, it was clearly a self-contained pocket world. Simply walking outward would never lead them out. Like the Hekiraku Realm, they would have to uncover the secret or locate the true exit.
“Sister Lily, just look at yourself. You’ve deliberately left your collar open again. Weren’t you concerned about your appearance while walking through the streets? As a noble lady, how could you have so little sense of propriety?” Nanako suddenly scolded sternly.
“Huh?” Lily froze. Why was Nanako suddenly reprimanding her? Had she also been influenced by this world’s twisted nature?
“Ah, don’t misunderstand, Sister.” Nanako hurriedly explained. “I was practicing how I should behave toward you in public so the people here won’t grow suspicious of us. If they accept us, it’ll be much easier to gather information about this place and figure out a way to escape.”
Lily let out a sigh of relief. “I see.” For a moment, she had thought Nanako had been affected by this world’s upside-down order and had genuinely intended to discipline her…
“Go take a bath, Sister.”
“Mm.” Lily nodded.
Just then, a noisy commotion echoed up the stairs.
“Hm? There are people outside?” Lily immediately became alert. She extended her Divine Probe and found several burly men approaching. Under normal circumstances, she would have suspected them of harboring ill intentions. Yet in this strange world, she actually felt reassured.
As for their strength, they were merely at the Permanence Stage and the Awakened Stage. They were hardly worth mentioning. If she slaughtered people of such insignificant strength without reason, there would be no satisfaction in it.
**Creak!**
The door swung open. Three burly men stood in the doorway, all dressed in identical hunting robes.
“Who are you people? Why are you barging into a lady’s room?” Nanako demanded.
“Huh?” The three men blinked in confusion.
“That’s right. What do you want?” Lily rose to her feet, her long hair slightly disheveled.
The men’s eyes immediately fell upon her. Her collar had come slightly undone, and beneath the dim light, the outlines of her full bosom were faintly visible. Her rain-soaked clothing clung tightly to her body, revealing the graceful curves hidden beneath the fabric with striking clarity.
The color instantly drained from their faces. They all turned away at once. “So the report was true. Someone reported that a noble lady here was dressed in an indecent manner. Hurry up and fasten your clothes.”
“This is unbearable to look at,” one of the hairy men muttered as he covered his eyes with his large hand.
Lily’s chest rose and fell as she turned halfway around and hurriedly closed her collar. A sense of dejection welled up inside her. Although she never wanted strange men staring at her in the first place, she wanted even less to be looked down upon because of it.
Nanako stepped forward. “Watch your words! I’m her maid, and I’m responsible for her conduct. If you have something to say, say it to me!”
“Hm. At least you’re a sensible girl who understands proper manners,” the leader replied. “It’s not a serious matter. She was simply dressed inappropriately in public and offended public decency.”
“We received a report and came to investigate. Since it’s only at this level, we won’t be taking her to the magistrate for punishment. Instead, we’ll hold you responsible. Make sure you properly discipline your young mistress so she behaves more appropriately in the future. Understood?”
“Who’s behaving improperly? Explain yourself!” If not for giving the Sakura Parasol a measure of respect, Lily would have cut down these worthless fools with a single slash.
“What did you say?”
“Oh dear, that’s enough. I understand. I’ll make sure to discipline her strictly. Thank you for your hard work. You may go now,” Nanako hurriedly interjected.
“Good. Be certain you discipline her properly!” the three men declared righteously before leaving.
After closing the door, Lily slumped weakly onto the floor once more, leaning against the wall with a completely exhausted expression. “What kind of world is this…?”
“Sister, you’re the one who’s mistaken.” Nanako looked at her earnestly. “The men and even the monsters here are all upright gentlemen with honest hearts who never let their eyes wander. What’s so bad about that? Unlike the Three Realms, where whether they’re hypocrites putting on respectable faces or monsters lurking in the shadows, every last one of them is consumed by lust. Is that really better? Or do you actually enjoy being harassed? Do you enjoy being surrounded and ogled?”
“Of course not!” Lily protested.
“I know. You’re simply not used to it.” Nanako smiled knowingly. “The outside world was dangerous, but you were always adored and admired wherever you went. Who would’ve thought that after coming here… this is probably the first time in your life you’ve ever experienced being disliked.”
“…Maybe.” Lily sighed. “Who knows?”
She rolled onto her back, staring at the ceiling, then turned over again and lay face down on the wooden floor, resting her head on her folded arms with an aggrieved expression.
“Sister, how are we supposed to leave this place?”
“How should I know?”
Nanako silently pondered where the problem truly lay. Her gaze settled upon Lily’s slender waist and shapely hips as she lay face down on the floor. Her heart couldn’t help but flutter.
They were both women, so why was her sister so incredibly feminine while she herself fell so far behind? Of course, Nanako believed she was adorable as well.
Cute. Cute. Cute! That was the only word she could use to describe herself. But for a girl who longed to possess genuine feminine charm, wasn’t being called “cute” little more than pity disguised as comfort?
“Sister, I was thinking…” Nanako looked at Lily from behind, swallowing softly as a thought rose within her. “Perhaps if we want to uncover this world’s secrets, we’ll have to do as the locals do.”
“Do as the locals do?” Lily was far too intelligent not to understand the implication. A faint blush spread across her face, and her eyes became slightly unfocused. Yet she remained lying there, allowing Nanako’s gaze to wander across her back without turning around.
“That’s right. As you’ve seen, everything in this world is reversed. Noble ladies are the ones who must be disciplined by their maids. Of course, I have no intention of listening to what those officers said, but perhaps only by trying to follow this world’s rules can we truly perceive the secret hidden within it.”
“Nanako… what exactly are you trying to say? I… don’t quite understand.” Lily’s cheeks grew redder and redder.
It might not even have been solely for the sake of uncovering this world’s secrets. Ever since long ago, from the very first time Nanako had met Lily, back when they had stood as enemies, she had already harbored such a thought.
That thought had lingered within her ever since, eventually becoming a lingering obsession she had never been able to vent.
“I want to discipline this big-breasted woman!” That had been the very first thought that crossed Nanako’s mind when she laid eyes on Lily. Unfortunately, she had been defeated, and that wish had never come true.
Even after falling wholeheartedly in love with Lily, that desire had never faded. Deep within her heart, it still mattered to her. It still burned just as intensely.
“Sister…” Nanako exhaled a soft white breath, her eyes growing darker with emotion. “Since we’re here, and none of the other sisters can see us… how about I do exactly what those officers suggested and truly discipline you, just this once?”
Lily’s shoulders trembled slightly upon hearing those words. She was not particularly surprised. Her own breathing had also grown deeper, while an indescribable haze clouded her eyes.
“Discipline me?” Lily asked between deep breaths, her cheeks flushed crimson. “And… how did you intend to discipline your sister?”
