“Mitsuki, Furuya, Gotou, your shift is over.”

An older shrine maiden spoke to her from behind, surprising Kou who raised her head in shock.
The seemingly endless line of visitors had kept her so busy that she completely forgot about the passage of time, and when she checked she realized it was already 1pm, time for her to take a break.

“Okay…I’ll let you handle the rest.”

Kou thanked her, bowed to the visitors, and left the Amulet Office.

“Heheh, you two were just as popular as I expected.”

Kasumi chuckled a bit while talking to Kou and Hijiri, obviously referring to all the visitors they had spoken to.

“Ahahah…but Kou could take care of them way faster, I can’t even compare.”
“Oh come on, I wasn’t…ahem.”

Kou reactively raised her voice, trying to protest, only to remember there were still a lot of visitors present, so she stopped herself and laughed nervously, trying to play it off. Even if she was only doing it momentarily, she was still a shrine maiden, she could not go around causing an uproar.

…But it was true. The lines of visitors in Hijiri and Kou’s spots were the longest.
Part of that was obviously their uncommon beautiful looks, especially Kou’s features that always stood out, causing many swooning visitors to automatically line up there.
And the other reason…languages.
Kou and Hijiri, as well as Subaru who was not present, had parents with very high positions in prominent tech companies worldwide, so they had all learned English from a young age, an indispensable language in that line of work, while also coming into contact with a variety of other languages like Chinese and German.
And while they all often forgot it, they were also students at Morinomiya High, a private school known throughout the prefecture, or even the entire country as one of the most demanding schools, so their education level was set to a very high bar.
Kasumi often felt negatively about herself when compared to Kou or Subaru, but to the average person, even she was an excellent student.
So it often happened that all three girls were seen as highly achieving model students from Morinomiya High, and only they themselves remained oblivious to it.

But that also meant that whenever a visitor seemed to be a foreign tourist, they would immediately be sent over to the girls’ lines, adding to their workload.

“Nicely done, everyone.”
“Huh, Kikyo?”

Since she was married, Kikyo could no longer work as a shrine maiden, but as the wife of the priest, she still had an authoritative position and was just as busy as Kou and the rest…so Kou found it strange to see her there.

“I’m sorry to cut your lunch break short, but could you all come with me to the lodgings?”

Everyone followed her, slightly alarmed…only to find, after being apart for a few days…Kou and Hijiri’s parents.

“…Mom!”
“Hello, we’ve all come to do our own shrine visit. I was also impressed by how hard you were working, we all watched from a distance.”

Saying that, Amari began patting Kou’s head, who went red in the face and protested “Stop that!” even though she did not seem to actually hate it, as she did not swat her mother’s hand away.
And there was another mother there.

“President Amari is always spoiling her daughter… We also ran into Subaru down in the parking lot, and he was working just as hard as you, Hijiri.”
“Mhm, it’s a lot to do, but I’m having fun too.”

Hijiri also giggled happily, hearing her mother Akane praise them.
Meanwhile, a distance away, were the two fathers Sora and Kaname.

“…Seeing one’s beloved daughter in pure shrine maiden robes is something else.”
“Hahah… Yes, we must be the happiest parents alive to witness this.”

They were moved to tears seeing their daughters perform their holy duties, nodding at each other as they shared that sentiment.

“Ah, mom, you also came.”

Kasumi blurted, seeing a familiar face in the group.
It was her mother, who the rest had already seen before during the fireworks festival.

“Yes, nothing in the world would ever make me miss the opportunity to see my daughter in such splendid clothes. But…”

Saying that, she quickly glanced to her side, to a woman who clearly stood out from the group, with features far distinct from those of a Japanese person…to Iris.

“I never expected I would see you again here of all places, Lady Uber. And I’m even more surprised that you’ve barely changed since I last saw you.”
“Heheh… I’m also glad to see you again, prez. For a while I thought we’d never see each other again after we lost contact.”

They smiled happily at each other as they spoke. Just watching them was enough to realize that they were old friends.

“Mom, you also know Iris?”
“Yes, I do. She’s one of my dearest friends.”
“It was only for three months, but we were classmates. And I ended up relying on her a lot.”
“Mhm mhm, I still remember those times… And time went by so fast, I can’t believe that the princess from back then will soon be the mother of two.”

Soon the two women were deeply engaged in their own conversation, reminiscing about the past, and their husbands, Reiji and Kasumi’s father, just had a stifled smile watching their wives.
Meanwhile Julia began looking around desolate, realizing that her mom would be busy for a while, so Kasumi called to her to keep her company.
Either way, everyone seemed to be getting along, even better than one would have thought.

“You girls still have two hours free for lunch break, right? Why don’t you go change real quick to eat with your parents? You can also go look around the different stalls.”

Kikyo suggested that, and everyone agreed, so Kou and the others went with their families to check out all the stalls built up along the parking lot.
