Without hesitation or concern, Mira revealed the secret.

“Wha..?! Gran- Mira?!”

Kagura became even more desperate, as Alma and Esmeralda also glared at her reproachfully.
They had just spoken about keeping such things secret from Iris, and here was Mira, proudly announcing them.

“Our only concern is being able to keep tabs on August, is it not? So we just have to go nab him before he can find out. Iris won’t have to use her power again after that.”

August had established many prominent black market trading routes, used for merchandise just as much as for human trafficking, making him and his knowledge an important target.

There was a high likelihood that he had managed to keep plenty of those secret, which would become all the more important now that Garroba had been caught.
If they also found out about Kagura, there would be no better time to use them to make a hasty retreat.
So Mira had a suggestion. She would head out that very night, and capture him by the next day.

“If anything, capturing him would be ideal, as Kagura can make him reveal everything. So you don’t need to keep pushing yourself.”

Mira was not done, even revealing Kagura’s secret interrogation spell, comforting Iris with a smile.
When August realized he was being watched, he came up with various countermeasures, including some that made an innocent girl terrified of men.

Despite that, Iris kept going, driven by her own sense of justice.
Now Mira was telling her that she had done enough, she could rest. Her power was not needed anymore and her hardships were over.

“Really?! Am I…?”

Iris was completely taken aback by all that, struggling to comprehend what she heard.
That much was to be expected. She had been kept in the dark about anything important ever since she started using her powers, and she herself had made an effort not to get curious or ask about such things.
Now she was still fighting the feeling that she had heard too much, that she should not know any of that.

“…Yes, it’s all true. We actually captured one of Ira Muerte’s top guys earlier today, some man called Garroba. And Kagura got a buuunchhh of information out of him, like the location of all the other leaders!”

Alma finally chimed in, continuing where Mira left off. She was also of the mind that Iris had done enough, and that it was time for her to rest easy.
So she held nothing back, for the first time letting Iris know about their plans to deal with Ira Muerte.

“…And there you have it. Thank you for everything so far, we’ll take care of the rest now. And we’ll crush them to pieces.”

Then came Esmeralda, also sharing the same feeling, speaking confidently with the warm gaze of a caring mother.
And so, the three decided that there was no issue whatsoever in Iris knowing about Kagura.
Seeing them all agree, Iris finally understood that everything was alright.

“Okay then!”

Thanks to everyone’s efforts, they had come up with a good plan to take down Ira Muerte, with Iris having played no small role in reaching that point too.
And as Mira made her intentions to punish August clear, Iris asked for no leniency.

After that whole discussion about Iris’ duty being over, it was time to focus on dinner.
The table was soon covered in various homely dishes prepared by Alma, a menu that at first sight looked like the meals from an average household.
But they were all fit for an Empress, with the ingredients being far from something most people could afford. Even the meat and potato stew was made with beef that cost ten thousand Rils for just a hundred grams.
That alone made it a luxurious dinner, with every dish being delectable.

So once again, Mira was able to stuff her cheeks to her heart’s content.
All of that was not too out of the ordinary for a dinner in the oracle’s room, except for one small detail.
They were also sharing a table with Kagura, one of the Nine Wisemen.

“This is so amazing!”

Iris could not be in a better mood. She was beyond herself with excitement ever since she heard about Kagura’s identity, and her mood had not mellowed out at all since then.
One of her favorite pastimes was reading, so she had obviously read through the entire Nine Wisemen Tales series.

They were all seen as heroes of Arkite, as well as the protagonists of those books, making them popular amongst children too.

Iris was no exception, having read through them many times growing up. Now she could not stop asking about the stories told in the books, asking if all of it was true, what parts had been embellished, how one or another dungeon looked, what happened with the treasure found there, and so on.
She was same parts feverish fan and relentless journalist.

“…And we ended up spending it right away, so it didn’t last even a month.”

Finding gems worth more than a hundred million Rils was not out of the ordinary for the Nine Wisemen, but they were also the type of persons to spend it all right away, which Kagura related with a distant and blank stare.
She kept thinking back to those times, spending so much on things that advanced their skills…or ended up being fruitless, which happened the most.

“I can hardly believe it! But that’s also how you advanced your research so much, right?!”

After many failures eventually there was a success. The Nine Wisemen were well aware of that, and always continued their research, for the betterment of their own skills and their country. That determination had also left a strong impression on Iris.
But she was nowhere near running out of questions yet, so their conversation that night went on for much longer than usual.
