“Revenge? But other than killing people, what could you possibly accomplish?” Lilith tilted her head, genuinely puzzled.
The Moon Demon’s aura was strange. It didn’t feel like that of a living being. Yet Lilith was certain he had not crossed the threshold into the Saint Realm. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have spent five whole years scheming for whatever he was planning.
But someone this weak actually dared to declare revenge against the entirety of humanity? Wasn’t he afraid his boast was far bigger than he could swallow?
“Heh… of course I couldn’t possibly take revenge with my own strength alone.” The Moon Demon laughed, his voice brimming with delight. “Especially with an Exalted Immortal of the Immortal Cloud Pavilion like you here. I wouldn’t stand the slightest chance against you.”
Lilith: ???
Say nyat? An Immortal of the Immortal Cloud Pavilion? Who exactly was this guy talking about?
“So, why do you think I’ve been chatting with you for so long? Or why do you think I went out of my way to set this fire? Fresh blood is what I enjoy. I have no interest in eating anything that’s been roasted.”
The Moon Demon slowly raised a hand, his voice turning colder by the second. “I deliberately lured you onto the highest tower… simply to buy time.”
“Hm?” A faint sense of foreboding suddenly washed over Lilith. Before she could react, however, a dim spectral light flashed before her eyes.
At some unknown moment, the bluestone beneath her feet had transformed into a bottomless abyss. The ground vanished beneath her in an instant, and gravity dragged her downward. Her vision was swallowed entirely by darkness.
The circular patch of light above her resembled the mouth of a well, shrinking smaller and smaller until it disappeared altogether. It was as though she had fallen into a completely sealed world of absolute darkness.
“I see… a trap. So they had anticipated that I’d come to the City Lord’s Manor all along?” Lilith raised an eyebrow, showing little sign of panic. Instead, a mocking smile curved across her lips. “But this is supposed to hold me?”
Her falling body abruptly came to a stop, suspended motionless within the void. Black flames flickered at her fingertips. All it would take was a casual wave of her hand to shatter this sealed space, no matter what kind of bizarre place it was.
Just imagining the look of shock on the Moon Demon’s face made a faint smile appear on Lilith’s lips. Showing off? Everyone likes that. In the end, however, she did not use the black flames to break the space apart. Because she heard an unfamiliar voice.
“A thousand years… Has someone finally entered?” The voice echoed like the tolling of an ancient temple bell, majestic beyond measure, yet carrying an unmistakable air of profound exhaustion.
Lilith turned toward the source of the voice.
**Fwoosh.**
Flames surged upward. The enormous candle stands suspended around the chamber ignited one after another. Each candle stand was colossal, and every candle atop it stood nearly ten Liliths tall.
There were thousands upon thousands of such candle stands. As every candle blazed to life, the once pitch-black space became brilliantly illuminated. The gigantic figure cast an even vaster shadow beneath the candlelight, engulfing Lilith like storm clouds that blotted out the heavens.
She slowly opened her eyes. They carried the weight of countless ages, and her weathered gaze settled upon Lilith, whose tiny figure was no more than a speck in comparison.
“Mortal… state your name.”
Lilith did not answer. Instead, she tilted her head and looked past the enormous figure at whatever lay behind her. Her eyes sparkled with unmistakable curiosity.

“Just as I thought. Even sacrificing the entire City Lord’s Manor in a blood ritual was only enough to tear open the seal for a brief instant. As expected of the seal personally placed by the ancestor of the Immortal Cloud Pavilion. Without blood of extreme yin, it was impossible to truly shake it.”
Standing atop the tower, the Moon Demon remained with one hand raised. He1 looked at the condensed blood in his palm as it gradually lost its vitality and dissipated, a trace of reluctance in his voice.
That blood had been equivalent to an entire year’s worth of his blood meals, yet all it had accomplished was opening a tiny crack. Fortunately, it was still more than worth the cost.
Now that the Immortal from the Immortal Cloud Pavilion was out of the way, wouldn’t the blood meals throughout the city be his for the taking? He lowered his gaze beneath his feet and let out a cold sneer.
“You can enjoy the unrivaled majesty of our Demon Emperor within this Nether Heaven Prison. I only hope that by the time I completely break the seal, there will still be a few fragments of your corpse left. Still, you should be proud. Becoming the very first blood meal to welcome His Majesty’s rebirth is an honor few could ever claim.”

* **The Wang family.**
At that moment, the Wang residence was likewise being consumed by blood and fire. Landon stood in the empty street, watching the ancient clan that had once stood shoulder to shoulder with the Ye family gradually crumble into ashes.
A trace of melancholy flickered across his eyes, but it was soon replaced by cold indifference. Behind him, the blood-soaked Wang family head was still struggling.
“Landon… You actually… actually colluded with the Demon Race! If the Immortal of the Immortal Cloud Pavilion finds out about this, you’ll die a miserable death! A miserable death! And your Ye family will be doomed to eternal damnation!!”
With a wet stab, a longsword pierced the Wang family head’s chest. Even so, he continued laughing hideously, his aged face twisted with hatred. “Hahaha… I’ll be waiting for you in hell, Landon… Believe me, that day won’t be… too far away…”
The head of the Wang family gradually fell silent, dying with his eyes still wide open. Only then did Landon turn around. Walking over to the old man, he gently closed his eyes.
Looking at the aged face that had once driven him around like a dog, Landon let out a wistful sigh. “What a pity. You won’t be waiting for me. Because even the Immortal of the Immortal Cloud Pavilion can no longer protect herself.”
He rose once more, his demeanor remaining as refined as ever. Not a single drop of blood had stained his azure robe. “Is the blood ritual ready?”
“Reporting to Lord Ye, all preparations have been completed.” The figure cloaked in black bowed respectfully.
“Good.” Landon nodded. “Then let the second batch of human-demon transformations begin.”
“Yes.”
“Oh, right. Start with the members of the Ye family who refuse to become demons. Their endless crying is getting on my nerves.” Landon casually shifted his gaze to one side. Many members of the Ye family were huddled together in the corner, muffled sobs rising from among them. Most of them were women and children. Bianca was among them.
“I don’t want to become a demon! I don’t want to!” Suddenly, Bianca sprang to her feet and ran toward the distance. “I want to see Big Brother! Landon, you heartless b̲a̲s̲t̲a̲r̲d̲! Let me see Big Brother!”
“Start with her.” Landon expressionlessly tilted his chin.
“Understood.” Several black-cloaked figures swiftly caught up to Bianca, who had no hope of outrunning them. Amid her heart-rending screams, they dragged her into the Wang family’s mansion, which was still engulfed in flames.
The stench of blood inside was overwhelming. After everything was finished, Landon returned to the lavish carriage. Looking at the slender figure wrapped in a black robe inside the carriage, he revealed an incomparably warm smile.
“Don’t worry, Liana. Once all of this is over, our Ye family will cast off every shackle and become a truly everlasting great clan. The price may be becoming demons, but demons and humans aren’t really that different, are they? Besides, as the greatest contributors to the Demon Emperor’s release, I’m certain our Ye family will enjoy a status among the Demon Race far beyond what we have now.
“With sufficient resources devoted to us, mere First Heavenly Strata of the Saint Realm is nothing! Given the talent of the Ye family’s descendants, producing true supreme powerhouses won’t be impossible.”
