A short while earlier. Inside an underground basement somewhere in Roc City.

“Sss… ssssss!” The ant-man Moyra suddenly let out a series of strange cries.

Hearing the commotion, Red, who had remained behind to await news, arched a brow and hurriedly asked, “What happened?!”

“Sss… ssssss!” Moyra replied through gritted teeth, its face twisted into a remarkably human-like expression of fury.

“What? Almost all of your subordinates were killed at the same time?!” Red cried out in shock. She knew that Moyra shared a mysterious connection with its subordinates. For so many of them to lose contact all at once was no small matter.

“Sss… ssssss!” Moyra waved both arms violently, its eyes filled with unwavering resolve. It wanted to personally lead the ant army into battle.

“No. If the enemy was capable of wiping out so many of your subordinates in one go, then that means their strength is at least at the Grandmaster level. Things are already too sensitive right now. We can’t expose ourselves recklessly.” Red shook her head and rejected Moyra’s proposal.

When it came to intelligence, she far surpassed the ant-man before her and naturally had a much clearer understanding of the current situation.

The world had now entered a new era. It resembled the surface of a tranquil lake, yet powerful undercurrents surged beneath. Anyone foolish enough to become the first to stand out would likely die without ever knowing what had happened.

Their own deaths meant little, but if they implicated the Matriarch on Doom Island, the consequences would be disastrous.

“Sss… ssssss!” Moyra protested angrily. Those giant ants were not only its subordinates, but also its kin. They had all originated from the same Broodmother. No matter what, Moyra was determined to avenge them.

As soon as it finished speaking, the giant ants throughout the basement began stirring restlessly.

“Calm down!” Seeing this, Red’s eyes widened as crimson aura erupted from her body, raging through the basement like a violent storm. An overwhelming pressure immediately descended from above, forcing Moyra and the giant ants to creak under its immense weight.

Only then did Moyra recall just how terrifying Red truly was. Fear exploded within its heart like a runaway beast.

“Did you forget what I told you before we left the island?” Red said coldly.

At that moment, crimson dust filled the air. After inhaling the dust, every giant ant became sluggish and drowsy, completely drained of energy.

Moyra nodded and dared not utter another word. It knew full well that if it said even one word too many, Red might kill it on the spot. After all, those had been the terms agreed upon from the very beginning.

“Good.” Seeing that it had calmed down, Red withdrew her aura, and the crimson dust gradually dispersed. “Send a few of your subordinates to monitor that place and bring back more detailed intelligence. Remember, whatever happens, do not expose yourselves.”

With those words, Red turned and left the basement. Moyra remained where it stood, its body trembling as a human-like expression of rage spread across its pitch-black face.

After a while, it finally regained its composure. It then dispatched more than a dozen of the stronger giant ants to follow the scent trail left behind by the previous group and head over to conduct surveillance.

At the Rosen Hotel. After receiving a call from her younger sister, Mylene, Yae-hime arrived at the hotel in just three minutes. That was almost the fastest speed she could currently achieve.

The reason she had rushed over so urgently was because the giant bugs were a matter that could not be taken lightly. This time, they had actually appeared inside the Rosen Hotel!

Had Mylene and Pixie not both been here, the consequences would have been unimaginable!

“Sis!” The moment she saw Yae-hime arrive in her simple white pajamas, looking as beautiful as ever, Mylene immediately ran over and greeted her happily.

“You’ve worked hard.” Yae-hime reached out and gently patted her on the head, her eyes overflowing with tenderness. She only had one younger sister in this world, and no amount of love or doting toward her could ever be considered excessive.

“Hehe!” The little girl happily narrowed her eyes and giggled with delight. It was obvious just how overjoyed she was. Even Pixie found herself feeling a little envious.

Of course, she was older than Yae-hime and belonged to the older-sister generation herself, so naturally she couldn’t expect to receive that kind of pampering.

“Where are those giant ants?” Yae-hime asked as she withdrew her hand.

“They’re inside the lobby!” Mylene stepped aside and pointed toward the interior.

“Let’s head inside and take a look first.”

At that moment, the hotel lobby was eerily quiet. All of the security guards and bodyguards had already been dismissed by Pixie.

The moment Yae-hime stepped inside, she saw a mound of giant ants piled up like a small hill.

“They’re indeed much larger than ordinary ants, and there are traces of a rather unusual power lingering inside their bodies.” Walking over to the pile of ant corpses, Yae-hime’s pupils instantly turned emerald green as she began examining them with her penetrating gaze.

“Their internal structure is quite different from that of normal ants. Unfortunately, without a living specimen for comparison, I can’t perform a proper analysis.”

Hearing that, Pixie turned to look at Mylene. The latter looked around innocently, pretending she hadn’t heard a thing.

‘This little rascal…’ The corners of Pixie’s lips curled upward ever so slightly, forming a captivating smile. In her eyes, Mylene truly was an adorable little sister.

“Do you know why they entered the hotel?” Yae-hime asked as she turned back to face the two of them.

Pixie shook her head. “By the time I sensed their presence, they had already gotten inside.”

“That’s right. When we came downstairs, those giant ants were surrounding two security guards. I have no idea what they were trying to do,” Mylene added.

“The two security guards are still alive?” Yae-hime asked in surprise.

“Yes, both of them are alive,” Pixie nodded.

“That’s strange.” Yae-hime lightly pursed her rosy lips.

Logically speaking, these ants possessed considerable strength. If they had swarmed together, let alone two ordinary security guards, even a martial artist would likely have been killed.

If the ant colony had truly intended to kill them, it would have been effortless. The strange part was that before Pixie and Mylene came downstairs, the ants had made no move against the guards. That was extremely unusual.

‘The giant mantises from last time lunged at me the instant they saw me. They were exceptionally vicious. But these giant ants seemed to be different.’ With that thought in mind, Yae-hime looked at Mylene. “Were these ants the ones who attacked you first?”

“Yes,” Mylene replied.

“Could it be… they only attack people who pose a threat to them?” Yae-hime said uncertainly.

The moment those words left her mouth, a flash of realization crossed Pixie’s mind. “That has to be it! Every one of those giant ants possessed impressive strength. They wouldn’t have needed many of them to kill two security guards!”

“Now that you mention it, that is rather strange.” Mylene lightly tapped her rosy lips with a finger. “The moment Pixie and I entered the lobby, they immediately gathered together and launched an attack on me.”

“I see. It looks like ordinary people aren’t their targets,” Yae-hime said. Even now, she still hadn’t figured out the true purpose behind either the giant ants or the giant mantises.

If her guess was correct, these giant ants, like the giant mantises, should also have an insectoid leader. “I wonder if that thing will come here personally.”

Looking at the ant corpses scattered across the floor, Yae-hime murmured to herself. Suddenly, her gaze landed on a slightly larger ant whose head had a faint green tint. “This is…?!”
