“There’s a strange presence… and there are a lot of them.” As she climbed out of bed, Mylene spread out her senses to scan the hotel, her expression turning unusually serious.
She was certain that the creatures carrying those auras did not belong inside the hotel. This was an external invasion!
“How did they even get inside?” Mylene narrowed her eyes slightly, her face growing grave. Without another moment’s hesitation, she strode out of her room.
At almost the same time, Pixie also stepped out of hers. The two exchanged a glance. Without wasting a single word, they shot toward the exit like bolts of lightning. Mylene reached the door first and pulled it open, while Pixie followed behind and quietly closed it.
Although they moved at incredible speed, they made almost no noise. Rather than taking the elevator, the two darted down the hotel’s emergency staircase.
Watching the crackling arcs of lightning dancing across Mylene’s body, Pixie’s expression became rather complicated. ‘Sigh… the younger generation really does surpass the older one!’
The thought that she was older, yet had been completely left behind in terms of strength, filled her with a wave of sorrow. However, when her eyes drifted to Mylene’s delicate, youthful figure, she inexplicably found herself in a much better mood.
Ahead of her, the young miss of the Tian family suddenly shuddered, a chill running down her spine.
“Is it really this cold today?” she murmured softly to herself. She paid it no further mind and accelerated toward the first floor.
The farther down they went, the clearer her senses became.
“These are… ants!?”
“I think so.” Hearing the surprise in Mylene’s voice, Pixie immediately moved closer as she replied.
“Do we even have ants this big in our country?” Mylene asked without slowing down in the slightest.
“I don’t think so. They feel more like those giant ants from Africa,” Pixie answered uncertainly.
The two of them could only vaguely sense the creatures’ appearances. Unlike Yae-hime, they couldn’t effortlessly perceive every detail.
“Giant ants from Africa are big, but they shouldn’t have such powerful auras… Could these be the giant bugs Sis told me about?” Mylene suddenly remembered what Yae-hime had warned her to watch out for.
“What giant bugs?” Pixie asked.
“The ones involved in that incident last time.” Mylene gave her a brief explanation.
While they spoke, the two had already reached the first floor at astonishing speed. Just then, a terrified scream rang out from the hotel lobby.
“Help!”
Mylene pushed open the emergency exit, her petite body transforming into a streak of lightning as she shot toward the hotel lobby. Pixie followed close behind. Very soon, they saw the lobby floor and walls crawling with countless ants.
They were no ordinary ants. Each one was roughly half a finger in length, their glossy black bodies radiating a terrifying aura.
Not far away, two hotel security guards clung to each other, trembling violently. Their faces were as pale as paper, while cold sweat poured from their foreheads. At that moment, they were surrounded by an immeasurable swarm of ants that could attack at any second.
“So many giant ants!” Looking at the sea of densely packed black dots, Pixie felt her scalp go numb as horror gripped her heart.
“……” Mylene remained silent, her lovely little face twisting into an expression of utter disgust.
The moment the ants noticed Mylene and Pixie’s arrival, the aura surrounding every single one of them erupted almost simultaneously. Individually, none of them were particularly strong, yet when all their auras merged together, they rivaled that of a peak Master!
“That’s so disgusting! Mylene, hurry up and fry them with lightning!” Pixie said with visible revulsion.
“I was planning to.” Mylene nodded. Whether these giant ants were the giant bugs her sister had mentioned or not, killing them first was definitely the right decision.
With a single thought, the white lightning enveloping her body exploded outward in an instant. Ever since Yae-hime had tampered with her body, Mylene had gained complete control over her lightning ability, able to wield it with perfect precision.
Against these ants, even ten percent of her power was more than enough. Even so, that mere fraction of her output was a terrifying sight in the eyes of ordinary people.
The two hotel security guards stared blankly at Mylene, whose entire body crackled with dazzling lightning, feeling as though they had fallen into a dream. If this wasn’t a dream, then how could a human possibly be covered in flashing bolts of lightning?
Whether it was an illusion or a dream didn’t matter. As long as it could get them out of danger, that was enough!
Watching the pitch-black giant ants rapidly close in on the lightning-cloaked girl with the indistinct features, the two security guards could not help but let out long sighs of relief. The overwhelming joy of surviving a disaster welled up within them.
The next instant, they unleashed the kind of speed people displayed at the scene of a fire and fled the area with everything they had.
Seeing this, Pixie remained completely indifferent. She saw nothing wrong with them running away. The weak should act like the weak. Without bystanders getting in the way, powerful fighters like them could fight without restraint.
Mylene stood where she was without rushing to attack. She was waiting for the giant ants to gather together.
**Rustle… Rustle…**
**Rustle… Rustle…**
In the blink of an eye, the densely packed giant ants converged into a single mass, forming a small black mound.
Suddenly, the largest and most intelligent ant at the front let out a strange cry. The next moment, the black mound abruptly changed shape. It rapidly stretched upward, gradually taking on the form of a black humanoid. To be more precise, it was half-human, half-ant.
Seeing all those giant ants fuse into a single body, Pixie couldn’t help feeling nauseated. Even someone without trypophobia would feel their heart seize and their skin crawl the instant they laid eyes on this ant-man.
The two-meter-tall ant-man had barely finished forming before it charged forward at full speed, reaching out with a massive hand to seize Mylene.
Instinctively, it sensed just how terrifying the young girl before it was. She had to be eliminated immediately. Yes, instead of fleeing, it chose to confront her head-on. That was the instinctive response of the mutated ants!
“You really don’t know your place.” Unfortunately, they had no understanding of what it meant to overestimate themselves. The moment she spoke, a whip of crackling lightning instantly condensed in Mylene’s hand and lashed viciously across the ant-man’s body.
The entire lobby erupted with dazzling lightning, as bright as broad daylight. The ant-man spun wildly like a top after taking the hit, while countless giant ants were flung from its body. Every single one of them had completely lost its aura. They were obviously dead.
As if they had finally realized the overwhelming gap in strength between them, the ant-man spun a few more times before instantly splitting apart into countless giant ants that scattered in every direction.
To ants, which possessed no sense of pride, there was nothing shameful about running away after realizing they couldn’t win. No, they didn’t even possess the concept of shame. What filled them now was only fear. An overwhelming fear of Mylene!
“Trying to run? Not happening.” Mylene sneered coldly as lightning spread from her body, instantly transforming into an airtight electric net that swept up every single giant ant.
The lobby immediately filled with a rapid series of crackling pops, like beans exploding in a hot pan. A few seconds later, Mylene dispersed the electric net, and the giant ants rained down in a black shower, pattering noisily onto the floor.
Seeing how exquisitely Mylene controlled her lightning ability, Pixie’s admiration for Yae-hime surged like an endless river, impossible to contain.
On the ground, every giant ant lay motionless. Not a single one had survived.
“What a pity. My ability isn’t suited for capturing things alive. Otherwise, I could’ve left a few specimens for Sis to study.” Mylene said regretfully.
Hearing that, the corners of Pixie’s eyes twitched several times. ‘If you wanted live specimens, you should’ve said so earlier! I could’ve caught a few!’
For some reason, she felt that Mylene was becoming more and more like that omnipotent Princess. Then again… perhaps that was only natural for sisters.
