After waiting for quite some time, the envoy Alicia had dispatched finally arrived at Aoma Village. Only after confirming that everything on Alicia’s side was proceeding smoothly did Yae-hime log out with peace of mind.
In the real world, in the unfinished building.
“Mmph! Mmph!” Something wriggled across the floor, letting out strange muffled noises. A closer look revealed that it was no insect at all. It was clearly a young woman bound so tightly that she resembled a rice dumpling.
A wad of white cloth had been stuffed into her mouth, preventing her from making anything resembling proper speech.
Yae-hime got up from the bed, looked down at the tightly bound Avelora, and smiled. “You’re awake.”
“Mmph! Mmph!” Hearing those words, Avelora struggled to raise her head from the floor, her silver eyes glaring fiercely at Yae-hime.
“It’s good to see you’re in such high spirits.” With that, Yae-hime stepped off the bed and reached down to pull the gag from Avelora’s mouth.
“Hah… What are you planning to do to me!?” Avelora shouted. Her voice carried both anger and a trace of fear that even she herself had yet to realize. Having fallen into the hands of such a terrifying person, there was no telling what dreadful fate awaited her.
“Relax. I’m not going to hurt you.” Yae-hime smiled calmly. Such an excellent research specimen was far too valuable to damage. “As long as you cooperate obediently, you’ll have plenty of good days ahead.”
“Hmph! As if I’d believe you!” Avelora snorted coldly, instantly raising her guard to its highest level.
“Whether you believe me or not doesn’t matter. Like I told you before, Silver Wolf is already dead. From now on, you are my Avelora.” The smile faded from Yae-hime’s face as she spoke indifferently.
A faint chill lingered within her voice. After all, this little wolf had once been an enemy who tried to kill her little sister. There was no way Yae-hime would suddenly start treating her kindly.
“If you refuse to believe me, then you can go hungry for a few days and experience what real hunger feels like.” The moment those words fell, Yae-hime stuffed the cloth back into Avelora’s mouth.
“Mmph! Mmph!” Avelora once again could only make strange muffled noises.
At the same time, a flash of fear appeared in her eyes. She was no stranger to hunger, having grown up in poverty, but she had never gone several days without food. Who knew whether she might actually starve to death…
No, she was an S-rank Transcendent. Starving for a few days wouldn’t kill her so easily. Still… it was bound to be utterly miserable.
Meanwhile, the five Vera sisters trembled all over, their faces pale. To them, this ranked as the greatest of the world’s ten cruelest tortures! Forget several days. They couldn’t even endure a single day without food!
After leaving Avelora in the care of one of Vera’s clones, Yae-hime lay down to rest. She had spent the entire day monitoring the game, and the mental strain had taken its toll. It was time to properly recover her energy.
Meanwhile, at Rosen Hotel. Mylene and the others had already gone to sleep. Out of concern for everyone’s safety, Nangong Lin had also arranged for Rakshasa and Little Fairy to stay the night. She planned to have someone escort them home first thing the following morning.
After all, Yae-hime had countless enemies, and no shortage of people were watching this place. It was better to be cautious in every possible way. At this hour, only a handful of hotel staff remained. Aside from those assigned to the night shift, everyone else on duty consisted of highly skilled bodyguards.
When it came to security, this hotel could undoubtedly rank first in all of Roc City. For an ordinary person, infiltrating this place was practically impossible. Of course, extraordinary individuals still had their own methods.
The question was, even if they managed to sneak inside, what could they actually accomplish? There were grandmaster-level experts stationed upstairs. They would be beaten to death in the blink of an eye.
Logically speaking, nothing should have been able to slip inside without being detected by Mylene and Pixie. Especially Mylene after her transformation. Yet at this very moment, a tiny intruder had quietly made its way inside.
The reason it escaped both of their senses was simple. It was simply too small. It was a black ant. However, it was much larger than an ordinary ant, measuring nearly half the length of a finger.
Clearly, this was no normal ant. It crawled steadily along the wall, eventually slipping unnoticed into the kitchen. Perhaps it was hungry. Or perhaps it had merely caught the scent of something.
It shook its head from side to side before finally fixing its gaze on a large blue barrel filled with kitchen scraps. As though it had caught the scent of something delicious inside, it scurried over at astonishing speed, eagerly climbing up the barrel.
Then, with a single leap, it jumped inside and voraciously devoured the leftovers discarded by the humans. Its body was no bigger than that, yet it seemed to possess an insatiable appetite. After quite some time, the giant ant finally had its fill.
Its body had mysteriously grown much larger, its jet-black exoskeleton resembling a suit of meticulously forged armor.
Suddenly, a green glint flashed across its eyes.
Almost at the same instant, somewhere inside an underground basement, a gigantic black sphere trembled several times before dropping a swarm of giant ants. The sphere then split open, and a pitch-black humanoid creature stepped out.
More accurately, it was merely an ant that vaguely resembled a human. It was none other than the Antman, Moyra.
Strange sounds escaped its mouth while an eerie light flickered repeatedly in its eyes, as though it had become extremely excited. The countless giant ants around it appeared to have been infected by its emotions, displaying nearly identical reactions.
In the blink of an eye, the dim underground basement had become an exceptionally horrifying and bizarre place.
Just then, a series of footsteps echoed from the stairwell. A sharp click followed, and every light in the basement flickered on at once.
“Moyra, you’re this excited. Did you find some kind of lead?” The newcomer possessed exquisite features, flawless fair skin, a tall figure, and wore a knee-length crimson dress. She could easily be described as a breathtaking beauty.
However, her eyes were unlike those of a human, sending chills down anyone’s spine who looked into them. Still, once one grew accustomed to them, they might even find them rather adorable.
After all, the compound eyes of many insects were quite beautiful in their own way. This woman was none other than Red, the one who had driven Yae-hime into a dead end. Among those in the underworld, she was known as Sister Red. In reality, she was a peculiar half-human, half-insect lifeform.
She had long infiltrated human society with the purpose of finding the most suitable human male to mate with the Broodmother. Now, however, she had another objective. She intended to find the special human responsible for mutating the cockroaches and bring that person back to Doom Island.
Moyra nodded, its large glossy black head bobbing up and down in a manner that looked oddly adorable.
“Really?” Red asked, unable to hide her disbelief. Only after Moyra nodded several more times did she finally believe it.
“Good, very good. We’ll immediately…” She stopped halfway through her sentence and hurriedly shook her head. “No. The abnormal events from earlier must have attracted the attention of countless capable individuals. We can’t afford to make ourselves too conspicuous. Otherwise, we may very well lose our lives.”
Moyra pondered for a moment before giving a slight nod.
“How about this? Send more of your subordinates over there first. Once we’ve gathered enough information, we’ll make our plans accordingly.” Red spoke calmly. She wasn’t in a hurry. As someone who favored cautious strategies, impatience was absolutely taboo.
After remaining silent for several seconds, Moyra nodded once more. It immediately dispatched an army of ants toward that location.
Three hours later. The giant ant, which had grown larger, stronger, and had even developed a measure of intelligence, spotted the marching ant army outside the hotel. Under its command, the ant army swiftly split into multiple groups, silently infiltrating the hotel from every direction.
The very instant they successfully entered, Mylene’s eyes snapped open, brilliant white light erupting from her body!
