Princess Eleora, clad in the armor and cloak of the Royal House of Rolmund, had established her stronghold on high ground alongside her subordinates.
Below them, thousands of Miraldia Liberation Army soldiers were arrayed in formation.
They were surrounding the fortress city of Worngang.

“A passable army, I must say.”
“Well, all they do is stand while holding a spear.”

Eleora couldn’t help but laugh at the wry smile of her middle-aged adjutant standing by her side.
After all, the Liberation Army was a group of laymen who had undergone only a few days of Rolmund-style military training.

“You look dissatisfied, Borsche.”
“Sending them to battle with such inadequate training is nothing short of tragedy.”
“You’re too kind.”

Eleora said this as she gazed at the walls of the fortress city of Worngang.

“It’s quite a fine castle.”

Adjutant Borsche nodded.

“Aye. I believe this would be a worthy hunt for you, Your Majesty.”
“I prefer the real Ioro Lange, but I suppose that’s not possible.”

Borsche gave a wry smile.

“Your Highness, if word of what you just said gets back to the homeland, you’ll undoubtedly face a court-martial.”

The “real” Ioro Lange in the Rolmund Empire is located in the Emperor’s direct domain, the Imperial Lands.

It was a dangerous remark, but Eleora wore a sarcastic expression. As if testing the weight of the Magiarms Book in her hand, she smiled at her aide-de-camp.

“But just imagine the sight of our battalion flag flying over that damnable, gaudy golden palace.”
“It makes my heart race.”
“I thought so.”

Just then, a knight who appeared to be from Miraldia galloped in.

“Lady Eleora, I have news! The Senate has offered a truce!”

Eleora replied in a cold tone.

“Tell them we will accept nothing but surrender. From now on, turn away anyone who isn’t a messenger of surrender.”
“A-as you command!”

The messenger, clad in cavalry armor, bowed quickly and departed.

Eleora sighed.

“Do they really think there’s any point in us accepting a truce at this late stage?”

Another officer laughed. It was a young woman.

“It’s precisely that kind of foolishness that has led to this situation, Your Highness.”
“Exactly.”

Eleora turned around and faced the assembled officers.
At that moment, they all straightened their backs and stood at attention, saluting.

Eleora addressed them.

“In this battle, the soldiers of the Liberation Army are both combatants and spectators. We, the Magiarms Battalion, are the actors. Do you understand?”
“Yes, ma’am!”

Their voices rang out in perfect unison.
Since they had come under the banner of being Rolmund’s elite, they could not afford to put on a disgraceful show. They needed to demonstrate the bravery of fighting for foreigners on foreign soil, as well as their overwhelming strength.

“Our Battalion may have a grand name, but we number only 112. And vacancies will never be filled.”

Casualties here are inevitable, but her Rolmundian subordinates are precious. They are bound to Eleora for life; they would never betray her. They are highly capable, and she’d prefer to preserve them if possible.
But it would also be problematic if Eleora was under the impression of sending only Miraldians to battle. It’s a difficult situation.

“As I’ve told you before, effective today, I’m lifting the Top Secret classification on the Magiarms Staff. Use it to your heart’s content—just the way you like it.”
“Yes, ma’am!”

As everyone saluted, she grinned.
She looked like a child plotting a mischievous prank.

Eleora continued, praying for their safety.

“We need to demonstrate the strength of the Rolmund Army. Fret not, just doing what you always do will be enough. In fact, don’t get so carried away that you die. Unless, of course, you want me to have to apologize to your families, saying, ‘Lieutenant Natalia died in battle because she took unnecessary risks trying to impress me. I’m truly sorry.’”

The woman from earlier turned bright red.

“W-why am I the one you’re talking about!?”
“Because you’re the most reckless of the lot, Fourth Lieutenant Natalia.”

The officers burst into laughter.

“Nice smiles, everyone. I’m counting on you.”

No matter the battlefield, they had never failed to live up to Eleora’s expectations.
They would surely live up to her expectations this time as well.
So Eleora gave the order.

“209th Imperial Guard Magiarms Battalion, all hands, sortie!”
“Yes, ma’am!”

Their boots stamped the ground in unison, and Eleora met the powerful gazes of her subordinates head-on.
