“What made you so flustered?” Yae-hime rose to her feet and asked. Her voice had already changed, sounding somewhat strange to the ear.
“Lord Angel… so many clerics… Priest Micha…” The young cleric came to a halt, speaking in a jumble of incoherent words.
It was obvious that he was extremely nervous. After all, standing before him was an angel, the envoy of the gods, a being who seemed to radiate holy brilliance from head to toe!
Of course, Yae-hime wasn’t actually glowing with any divine radiance. The young man had simply applied an extremely thick filter when looking at her.
“Lord Angel, here’s what happened. Not long ago, several dozen foreign clerics blocked the entrance to the village and demanded that we hand over Lord Angel. Priest Micha and the villagers are confronting them right now. There’s a very real chance a fight could break out.”
Angelica explained calmly and methodically. She also viewed Yae-hime through a filter, though it was clearly a different model from the one used by the cleric beside her.
“Does that bishop have nothing better to do with his life?” Yae-hime said irritably.
A major battle was approaching, yet the man still dared to stir up trouble. Either his confidence had completely gone through the roof… Or perhaps he simply looked down on her from the very beginning.
Whatever the case, since these people had come here, they could forget about leaving in one piece.
“You all stay here. I’ll be back in a moment.” Before she had even finished speaking, Yae-hime vanished in a flash, disappearing from the house in an instant.
Zerene wanted to follow after her, but Lili grabbed hold of her. “Stop messing around. Hime is going to handle something important.” she said.
“I just wanted to watch! I’m not going to cause trouble!” Zerene protested unhappily.
“No.” Lili didn’t loosen her grip in the slightest.
“Lili is so annoying.”
“As if I care.”
Outside the village entrance. Priest Micha and a group of villagers stood behind the barricades, glaring angrily at the people before them.
About four or five meters away stood thirty clerics dressed in white robes embroidered with golden threads. Among them were priests, Holy Knights, and Templars. No matter how one looked at it, they formed a standard combat squad.
At the front stood a tall, powerfully built man with blond hair and blue eyes. His nearly square-shaped face gave off a stern and imposing impression. His name was Tongulas, male, thirty-three years old, and the leader of this group.
“I’ll say it one more time. Hand over that despicable fake envoy.” Pointing the greatsword in his hand forward, Tongulas spoke coldly. In truth, just like the clerics who had arrived the previous day, he had absolutely no desire to enter the village, much less come into contact with these villagers who had once been infected by disease.
At this moment, he was merely relying on overwhelming force and intimidation.
“I’ll say it one more time as well. There is no fake envoy here!” Priest Micha replied forcefully. Just from their auras alone, he could tell these people were incredibly powerful, far stronger than he was. But so what? Standing behind him was a genuine angel without the slightest trace of falsehood!
(May Her Holiness watch over me!)
“So, you’re not afraid of dying.” Tongulas’ eyes widened sharply. Particles of holy light surged around him as a powerful aura erupted outward.
Faced with such overwhelming pressure, Priest Micha barely managed to hold his ground, yet there was still not a hint of fear on his face. This was what a true believer looked like. A person who carried a god within their heart.
“We have only the true Lord Angel here!” He stared directly at Tongulas and declared firmly.
“Stubborn fool. Very well. Let me properly cleanse our ranks today!” The moment Tongulas finished speaking, every cleric behind him drew their weapons. In an instant, the area seemed bathed in holy radiance, dazzling golden light shining everywhere.
On the other side, Micha and several clerics also drew their weapons, looking fully prepared to fight to the death. The atmosphere instantly filled with murderous tension, making every villager feel as though needles were pricking their backs.
Just then, right between the two opposing groups, a black-robed figure suddenly appeared.
“All of you, stop.” A somewhat strange voice spread outward from beneath a white mask.
The next moment, Micha and the others became visibly excited. If this wasn’t their Lord Angel, then who else could it possibly be!?
Seeing this, Tongulas said coldly, “So you’re the fake envoy?”
“A fake? I think you’re the impostors here.” Yae-hime replied calmly. Compared to these clerics who had long since lost their faith, she truly did seem more like the genuine article. After all, the Goddess of Light herself was connected to her in more ways than one.
“What nonsense! Since you’ve shown yourself, then obediently come back with us to the Church for judgment. Otherwise, the consequences will be severe.” Tongulas said expressionlessly.
His mission was to bring back the fake envoy. As long as the target still had a breath left, the mission would be considered complete.
“Just the likes of you?” A cold smile appeared beneath Yae-hime’s mask.
Looking at her figure standing before them, seemingly wrapped in sacred radiance, Micha and the others immediately felt their anxiety melt away. Then, upon hearing such confident words, their morale soared to unprecedented heights.
They were only one step away from shouting, “Lord Angel is invincible!”
“Have a taste of my sword!” Tongulas had no intention of wasting words with Yae-hime. The moment he moved, sword qi exploded forth in all directions. The fierce downward slash unleashed countless streaks of golden sword qi that shot forward like a barrage of golden bullets.
“Hmph. Such a petty trick, yet you dare show it off before a master.” Yae-hime let out a disdainful snort. Her slender hand stretched forward, and the aura radiating from her body instantly transformed into a giant net, sweeping up every incoming strand of golden sword qi in one motion.
With a casual flick of her hand, all of the captured sword qi shattered apart, dissolving into golden particles that scattered into the air.
Seeing this scene, Tongulas’ expression immediately turned grave. Then he raised his hand and shouted, “Launch a full assault!”
When facing weaker opponents, he didn’t mind fighting alone. When facing stronger opponents, he didn’t mind overwhelming them with numbers. That was the mark of a qualified leader.
The clerics had already been prepared for battle. The instant the order was given, an overwhelming torrent of Holy Light attacks surged forward like a flood.
“Lord—” Micha was just about to warn Yae-hime to be careful when a strangely familiar scene flashed through his mind.
In the blink of an eye, the terrifying barrage of Holy Light attacks crashed into Yae-hime. However— something miraculous happened. Not only did the attacks fail to harm her, they were completely absorbed by her body!
At the sight of this, Tongulas and all of his subordinates stood frozen in disbelief, their jaws nearly hitting the ground. Meanwhile, Micha and the others were ecstatic. They knew very well that Lord Angel could never be harmed by the Holy Light. Because she was the very representative of the Goddess of Light herself! Just like that night before, Holy Light attacks would only make her stronger.
This… This was a divine envoy!
“Repent for your insolence.” At that moment, Yae-hime, whose power had increased dramatically, slowly raised her right hand and spoke. Immediately afterward, an immeasurable amount of sacred power surged from her body.
Golden light erupted across the battlefield!
“T-This is…!?” Tongulas finally snapped out of his stupor. Yet when he saw the sacred power gathering and taking shape in the sky, his heart nearly leaped out of his chest. It was a golden divine image. Peerlessly beautiful. And possessed with countless arms.
“Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara.” As the golden image fully materialized, Yae-hime gently pushed her raised right hand forward. “Amen.”
The instant her voice rang out, every arm of the golden image struck forward simultaneously!
“No!” Witnessing those enormous golden palms, each larger than a person, descending at terrifying speed, Tongulas couldn’t help but cry out in despair.
At this point, how could he possibly fail to understand? This envoy was not merely genuine. She was more authentic than the finest pearl in existence! Unfortunately, whether it was surrender or regret, it was already far too late.
**BOOM!**
A thousand hands descended like a torrential storm, crashing mercilessly upon these ignorant fools who knew neither the vastness of heaven nor the depth of earth!
